I am from the states and every time I hear this song it brings tears to my eyes you Australians are so cool and when I think what we did to our indigenous people and thought it was just a okay. I feel shame! The song has great music but even more intense meaning. Thanks for giving me a bit of the Australian experience.
HaydoZ I thought the same, hearing that comment of Peter's just now, watching this. I saw them live for the first time earlier this month, in Furuvik (Sweden). They blew me away!!

This has become a classic song. Wish I could have heard it live. Unlike a lot of today's music...the dancing isn't more important than the music...and the band is actually performing. And 'live' singing too. Unbelievable artistry behind this song. Thanks to the members of Midnight Oil for this.
Oh yeah who can't feel that da da da in between riffs? So intense! This music is a work of Genius both instrumental and lyrically! Well done, almost timeless.
@@travisexum3553 ya know I never knew this song. When I were a kid we had this video on a laser disk, I remember as a kid I loved the tune. 33 and love it so much!
Maybe not the best singer in the world, but he really makes the best of his voice. And man, what a performer he is!! On top of that he just seems like such a nice guy. Fantastic song - greetings from Denmark.
Garrett can't sing for shit. If you iisten to their early stuff late 1970s you can hear that he is trying to sing. But later he just yells his social brainwashing crap. We got it the first time mate.
A part of me is totally respecting the profound meaning of this song and the awesome musicianship. Then part of me is totally cracking up laughing at Peter Garrett's dancing.
Bassline super! Band super! Didgeridoo Player super (see him only at the start and end in the video) Fans super! Thank you for this video, greetings from Hamburg Germany Andreas

...SONG OF THE DAY!!!
Not a single camera device in the crowd, folks merely enjoying the music and atmosphere. I lived those times, it was amazing. I’ve now also used my phone to record at concerts. WTF!!!!
one of the many songs during the 80's that would make me dance like crazy...i was telling friends then the story behind the song...got no reactions :(...sad aye?
