Everyone was focused on Witt and Thomas, but this dynamo came in and single handedly showed the audience that the judging system at the time was totally fucked up.
I also love how she did that on the double axle put her hands down I mean other side it’s kind of weird, but it was very pretty and double axles huge you can see how she made the triple axle the following year
I’ve never seen a Double loop Triple loop combination and I watched figure skating for 40 years. Why doesn’t the commentator say something I mean the commentators back then just wanted you to just watch the programs and they didn’t tell you what they’re watching but that one fucking what’s the face should’ve said something
Figures was a rigged and useless part of the system to hold skaters like Ito back. Unfortunate but now the skating union is directly responsible for making the sport unpopular.
She's paying attention to all aspects of the moves, jumps, steps, and spins and perfectly keeping time with the music. For example, look at these 0:53, 1:07, and 2:04! Her skating is always sooo delightful and AMAZING! Full marks to her, to Midori Ito!
Thank you for doing some of the heavy lifting for me. I have been trying to convince people that Midori got totally shafted when it came to the "artistic" mark. What about her layback spins. She often hit wonderful positions. And those butter, textbooks landings that looked like they could flow on forever. She has never been equaled to this day. Not even the quads from the Russians have the same affect as Midori's jumps. Valieva's trible axles looks feeble, and Trusova's triple axel, when she can land it, takes off at a snails pace. Midori went into hers at 30 mils per hours, at least. She's a living legend!
