I’m the same,clearing out my early makes because, like you, I sewed fabric I was given or was cheap. Once you find lovely viscose or cotton lawn there’s no going back 😂. It’s an important part of the journey though x

Well done for saving your favourite dress. I was in Birmingham yesterday, unfortunately there were only two stalls in the outdoor market, there were a couple inside the undercover market and we also went to the silk store, we then went to Barry’s and the ladies, who were really lovely, told us Saturday and Tuesdays were the better day for the rag market. I still managed to buy 28 metres of fabric 🤦♀️😂

The rag market is a must (take a big bag) & then Fancy Silk Store is across the road & Barry’s is a short walk away so it’s all fairly close to each other. All easily walkable from the station too 😀 xx
The pattern you took for your daughter is very similar to a new style they have in Uniclo. Perhaps she may feel differently if she saw a suitable fabric
