Oh Roger don’t mind all those critics that make hateful comments saying the video is too long or you didn’t show something on the machine. I prefer your longer videos, and your personality gives your videos that zest that no one else’s has. This cleaner is a keeper I think, what about you? I hope it wasn’t too expensive, but it performed very well!

It's because they have the attention span of a houseplant and expect everyone to be some Hindu tutorial video that shows everything in 35 seconds. I get comments from morons that are so furious that I did not show them how to fix their vacuum in a cleaning demonstration from 6 years ago.....wtf seriously.

Miele build quality is superlative. I loved my 4000 series cylinder. I wish everything was made with a similar consideration of quality and longevity, the world would be a less wasteful place…

Waste comes from people, not the product. I just got a brand new Kirby Avalir 2 off the curb 4 months ago. A vacuum that costs over $2,000. A dog had chewed up the cord. I got a new cord for $13.85 and had it plugged in within 7 minutes. Everyone is stupid now and has such a low IQ for people that have a phone in their hands connected to the internet 24 hours a day 7 days a week. I don't get it.

@huskyvacs not necessarily. My vacuum has a broken hose in a place that you can't repair. There's no spare parts you can buy to replace. That's why I'm looking for a new one

Hi Roger just bought this vacuum, thanks to your brilliant review. It's the 2nd Miele i've had, and I had my 1st one for years. Didn't realise how knackered it was, until I used this new one. So much lighter in weight, and easy to move around. Keep up the good work Roger, and thanks again.

I have this one in US spec 120V with a power head. It's been excellent since I bought it. Love how the interior is always clean due to the HEPA bags. Complaints are that is heavy and can't just be brought out in a pinch.

Well, I think your review was very thorough and covered everything I needed to know. What an excellent review and presentation for anybody considering purchasing. I couldn't agree more with how filthy bagless are & the constant cleaning of filters etc. I'm done with battery powered vacuums too - they just don't clean as well.

I’m in the USA but you did a great job. I love the way you speak the King’s tongue. I’m looking for a new vacuum and leaning towards Miele after a Dyson a d a Shark - both junk since we have a dog who sheds like crazy. We have mainly all wood and tile floors with some low pile area rugs. I’m thinking the C1 pet version for us may be the ticket. The only thing i don’t like is the shorter cord vs the higher models.

I couldn't get the hose to fit in the machine. I watched this video. The fitting looked a bit different to mine. It was the wrong way round into the handle. Either end will fit into the handle but not the machine. I turned it around bingo! clicked into place. Just in case anyone else is stuck with the same thing. Great vacuum cleaner!

I like the Oreck Venture Pro, which is a USA bagged canister vacuum. The only thing is, that an optional turbo brush attachment* can be purchased separately from Oreck, so that you can clean upholstery and stairs with ease. * Model TURBO1; black color with Oreck logo, made in the exact same form as with the original Shark Navigator Lift-Away vacuum from 2011.

The build quality on these machines is really good, although there are some flaws. Mainly the filter being behind the motor unit. That means, when the bag inevitably fails, the motor gets packed with debris since the motor filter practically is no filter at all. Happened to our unit about 5 years after purchase. Thats why i like my festool vac which has a pre-motor filter. Nowadays, the devices are made with less robust parts (This one like any other modern unit for sale right now) My advice for anyone wanting to buy something for their house is: Either a cheap or miele mains vac but for 90% of the work, get something cordless just not from dyson, check out makita stick vacuums, they are easy to maintain, disassemble and empty.

Most vacuum cleaners have the HEPA filter after the motor, to also filter out carbon dust that the motor creates. Machines having the HEPA filter before the motor usually are shopvacs and not household vacuum cleaners. The bag is also not supposed to fail and it rarely does anymore. Old paper bags usually did fail if you overfilled them, but paper bags are not recommended to use regardless.

I'm not getting what you are saying - just about every Miele vac I've seen has a pre motor filter that does exactly what you want it to do. I mean, it's right here in this video at 6:55. And since this bag is synthetic and a plastic mount vs a paper bag with a cardboard mount, it's not going to break.

Thats because your festool is a commercial/professional vacuum, for carpentry and such... Festool's smallest bagged one is 11kg -7,5L capacity - 1200w - size: 47, 32, 45. As much as i also wish residential vacuum brands would follow the proffesaional design with filter position, im not dragging that kind of mon strosity around my apartment. And unless you're cleaning your workshop with a residential vacuum, a bagless cordless vacuums will have its seals fail long before the bag fails..i mean, there are rules about what not to vacuum. Lets not forget all the filth invisible to the naked eye, (which is the actual elephant in the room)that is released every time you empty a bagless dustbin.

Great review, thank you. Is the C3 that much bigger a footprint? Big bag, less changing out, thus more economical? Hmmm, C3 vs the C2 dog I guess... not sure I'm completely into the foot press down between carpet & tiles situation... no alternative? Looking for excellent ...

Am I correct in saying that post EU wattage restrictions on motor wattage Miele released those new floor nozzles, branding them Airtec, Turbotec and Allertec, apparently with better airflow to improve suction despite a lower powered motor? I think the Allertec head also had an indicator with lights to indicate whether particles were passing through the beam of light, a bit like the new Dyson sensor models? I think a red or green like indicated when the surface was clean.

I never understood why the wattage of a lot of earlier European market vacuum cleaners surpassed that of the North American units (as North American units were typically no higher than 1500 W and most even come below that here in some traditional models like Kirby and some of our canister machines). Heck, even my central vac (or ducted or built-in vacuum) with a 6" three-stage Lamb motor is rated around 1200 W.

The Nozzle on the newer mieles are generally okay but nothing special. Standard overengineering on the german part. The bristles on the outside will be packed with anything you picked up, especially if you caught anything not entirely dry, for example a potato shaving. This makes the nozzle a bit tedious to maintain. An extremely light and simple Makita nozzle will do better on hard floors while being much cheaper and less fatiguos to use.

i’m really not impressed with Miele cleaners. I can’t figure out why they just don’t appeal to me. I would much rather have a Sebo K series over this, much better designed in my opinion.

I'm not at all impressed with any Eurovac. They don't follow the KISS rule (Numatic is probably the only vacuum I like across the Atlantic) and using underperforming non-serviceable motors. Also, the power nozzles from Sebo and even Wessel Werk (and I like Wessel) tend to be lacklustre as well. If you give me a power nozzle from say Aerus, formerly Electrolux or an old Eureka Vibra-Groom as well as the Rainbow R-2800 style and the PN12 I find them to perform better than the EuroVac nozzles. Heck, I still find Kirby to be one of the best performing carpet vacuums out there for the power it only sips. When it comes time to replace the brush strips on Rainbow or Eureka power nozzles, that's all you replace: the brush strips. The others you are throwing away an insane amount of plastic to get fresh brushes again. Kirby does one even better by making the bearing caps somewhat eccentric so as the brushes wear down, you just go to the next setting.
