This is a great vacuum cleaner. Allow me to share some of my impressions. I had a Dyson before and I can assure you that Miele is much better. Main pros for me: Miele is much less noisy. It just puts much less stress on your ears which is great. I'm not sure if it's a suction problem or anything but Dyson was having problems with picking cat litter box pieces and it's rotating brush was pushing these pieces away which drived me crazy. Miele has a rubber strip underneath the brush which I think prevents this from happening. Not sure if it was mentioned in the video but rotating brush in Miele recongizes when you're doing carpet and it starts to rotate faster which is really cool. Of course it does come without some disatvantages: Dyson vacuum cleaner felt sturdier to be honest and it was much easier to disassemble. When you reassemble Miele it feels like some pieces are jammed together. Miele dust container is suprisingly uncomfortable to clean. At first I even thought that I am doing something wrong. It feels like it's just not enough space inside the container for dust to come out easily.

One trick I've used is if the dirt is stuck in the bin you can twist the top one notch further and the filter assembly will lift out of the bin and scrape the shroud like a dyson. After your done the whole thing sits back in the container and twists back to close.

I got the HX2 version and really like it. The vacuum pulled such an incredible amount of dust out of my carpet that even my corded canister vacuum did not remove. I also like the low center of gravity that you mentioned and that it is very quiet and has a non-irritating pitch to its sound. I noticed the flaws in the cleaner head though, it can really scratch the floor with small stones that get lodged in it. Contrary to your review, I love the emptying mechanism, as the vacuum will stand on its own and you can just take it off with one hand. You dont have to take the cleaning head off or anything like you do with Dysons for example.

Not really a pro. The trigger on the Dyson is designed for stop start vacuuming, and it needs only the weight of your hand. The stop-start method saves a few seconds here and there which add up to minutes extra run-time.

I am waiting for them to add a hair cutter as the electrolux has. I have long hair and the cutter is amazing. I also felt the cleaning of the basket was clunky and messy so hoping they fine tune that. The base model is reduced to $600 at the moment and am tempted to get just cos I am tired of Electrolux only lasting 4 years or so. Plus Electrolux flings bigger bits and pieces around the floor. Its a lot to pay tho - much more and even more than the full vacuum cleaner.

I've owned 5 (technically 6, but my dyson v12 died in 2 days so ypu can count that if you want) in the past 2-3 years. I've used the top of the line vacuums from LG, Samsung, and Dyson, and even tried an Electrolux for a small bit, and all of them had issues, and all of them underperformed. Miele is the only company that has provided me with products (specifically in the vacuum space) that have performed above all else. I originally had the C3 and loved it, but they didn't have stick vacuums at the time. But after trialling top flagship vacuums from the 3 biggest players in the space, I'm by far happier with the purchase of my Miele cleaning products. One thing I will say is that despite their vacuums being incredible, I am still yet to try one of their robot vacuums, ecovacs ozmo 920 still going strong and haven't needed to replace that. However in Australia ecovacs is just so fsr ahead of the rest in marketing and availability it's likely I'll be moving to the X1 Omni, or Roborock s7 due to its hub.

I got this vacuum a month ago and do not regret the purchase. The down for me are only two: - The way it clicks to arrange different modes, it doesn’t feel as clicky as other brands. - I do love how you empty the bin, but the walls are small and hair gets stuck and need your finger or something else to release, also would be better if you could wash the filter and they specifically tell you not to, just give it a shake. Will see if the smells goes bad after some time. Other than that, I love the ergonomic, the feel and it’s noise level it’s very low, my cat is less annoyed compared to my previous vacuum.

I have a Miele canister vacuum and have had it going on 5 years but I hate dragging it around, getting the hose caught, etc. With a new overly furry cat I have been looking for something quick and easy to keep the fur down. I looked at this vacuum and I have to agree that the price is 😳 scary. I wanted the pet version to pick up the fur tumbleweeds. The one thing I've noticed in reviews is that some folks had encountered melting of the plastic bushing(?) the yellow part. For this price that shouldn't be happening. I'm going to keep looking to see what options are out there, though I do like that the motor can be put on the bottom versus by your hand.

I think this is very good, but some improvements needed. Good: You can attach main unit to the lower position what makes it much lighter to use. Power is very good. Low profile cleaning head. Miele quality. Bad: filter needs to be cleaned often. Hair tangle is bad. Not able to pick up large debris. If I would have to choose it would be Lupe. Dyson would be my choice if it hadn't heavy main unit in top of the wand. All these brands are way too expensive.

The Germans aren't on board with tangle-free brushrolls yet. They like making one with the best agitation for the design envelope but still make it easy to get the hair off it. Notice the groove in the brushroll and how easy it was to get out. They know hair wrap is going to happen, but they have other things on their mind. For instance, this and the CX1 Blizzard are the first bagless vacuums they've made ever, so for a first try in both markets, it's a good try.
@sammy7237

Miele is great, i am not saying that because i am german but Miele is just a company which produce no bullshit, same as scandinavian company Electroluxx. In Germany there is one brand that is much more expensive compared to all others on the market and that is "VORWERK", they are famous since decades for their vacuum cleaners in direct marketing, however those are to expensive, wouldnt buy one. However there is another new and interesting cordless vacuum on the market or better said a range of cordless vacuums from Samsung, the Jet series. Would be interesting how those new Jet models compare because they have a premium price, for example the Samsung Jet 70 or Jet 90 with even more power.

Interesting comment. I can show you several BS Miele appliances such as cook tops that require igniter replacements every year, dishwashers with racks that rust in 2 years, coffee machines that are a nightmare to clean, vacuums where the plastic housing nearly disintegrates due to poor plastic quality, etc. No BS? Yeah, sure.
@danbarb9728
@danbarb9728 3 года назад
@@claykin1 i am not familar with Miele Dishwashers or coffee Machines but their vacuum cleaners are excellent and the plastics are of highest quality and they are always keen to design a proper sealing unlike many other vacuums in the past. I saw alot of tests with powder from well known companies that failed in that regard and that was with corded vacuums. Washing machines are also pretty good from Miele but the vacuums are just proper design without fancy bullshit designs like Dyson for example.
@claykin1
@claykin1 3 года назад
@@danbarb9728 my experience with 2 Miele canister Vacs has not proven their plastics are "of the highest quality". Both are over 5 years old but the housings and lids have cracked. Wands have had their lock clips broken off and the handle with the power adjustment controls has shattered like glass. And, it's funny how after several years sometimes the replacement part (expensive like you can't imagine) is suddenly redesigned like it should have been designed in the first place. Don't get me wrong, their corded canister Vacs are very good vacs. I'm simply making a point in response to yours, that they have their flaws and one of them is their lousy customer service. The HX1 bin design is hugely flawed as identified in this review. Trust me it's even worse than Chris lightly describes.

@@claykin1 Horses for courses Scott, I've owned a couple of iterations of a Dyson bagless vacuum, including a DC49 stick, and quite frankly I have had to replace the motorised head twice, the battery twice and endured periodic cleaning of the filters and motorised head, which is annoying. Dyson coined the phrase in 1995 regarding 'no loss of suction', but the reality is very much different, and they don't appear to have rectified the issues I am talking about to date.

Ohh I was so excited about this vacuum but if its not the best for hair.. then it's a no for me. Shame because I love Miele and I have C3 Powerline and wanted bagless, sleek design, with hand held for car vacuuming.. unfortunately this one is not for me.

Thanks for the review! I am wondering if you need to hold the power button down to vacuum. Arthritis in my hands, especially in my thumb can make that action painful.
@boatman222345
@boatman222345 3 года назад
You don't need to hold down the 3 position switch, you just slide it to the power setting you want and leave it there. That said I have badly deformed fingers from arthritis have no trouble depressing most of the buttons you need to press to take the vacuum apart. I do have some trouble pressing both buttons simultaneously to remove the battery but you really don't need to do that as you can charge it in place.

The whole large debris factor always had me curious... who knowingly vacuums up large debris on a normal basis and if you do, who uses a standard floor head to do it? Second, the filtration bin looked a lot easier than Dyson's flimsy bin that's nearly impossible to get entirely clean again for a good seal. Being able to take apart the bin individually for easier cleaning is possibly their direction?

I owned the cat and dog version of this and it was by far the most frustrating vacuum I’ve ever owned. The issue is with the dirt compartment which is way too small and extremely awkward/difficult to remove and empty. Also the battery takes about 8 hours to charge. I’ve also owned the Dyson animal and liked the a lot better.

Since it has a harder brush that is not interchangeable for a softer one, wouldn’t it be bad for your hardwood floors? Maybe even scratching it? Thanks

There is a brand of vacuum that is a little odd. Called Soniclean vacuum. They make a upright, canister, and stick cordless. The upright is made for soft carpet jut works on any type of carpet

Miele reputation and warranty make it worth price of Dyson IMO. I have an 18yo Miele vacuum and my mom's is 23yo. Miele builds products that last.Thanks for the review and some comparisons to Dyson. I am so done with Dyson!

You missed a bunch of important things in this review. Most importantly you didn't try to vacuum under the couch! HUGE design flaw on the HX1 is that Protruding circle on the power head that makes it impossible to maneuver it under low furniture. I have no idea why Meile let that happen. Also, the tiny dust bin is off balance so the dirt ends up in one spot so it has to be constantly emptied. I have a Dyson V8 and the suction is MUCH stronger on it than the HX1. I'm so disappointed i'm returning it and i had watched and read so many reviews before buying this the HX1 cat and dog. I'm not sure why its reviewed so well. Its also so heavy and the parts don't fit snugly together. I tried to break free of Dyson but i'm going back!

Finally, a Miele review. Thanks! Their products always have great looking design and feel, but not always the best performance. I had the top of the line washer/dryer and returned it for bigger/cheaper and lower quality "American style" (giant) washer/dryer that did the job right. Were I in the market for a new stick vacuum, I'd still get the Dyson.
