We have 3 MIGs at the Western Sky Aviation Warbird Museum here in St George, Utah. 2 MIG-15s and 1 MIG-17. All 3 are flyers and wear a red star. I'm a veteran USAF aircraft mechanic and now a MIG mechanic who is proud to maintain the heritage.

А у нас в России такие МИГ-15/17 в основном только на постаментах стоят мертвые, в качестве памятников Авиации СССР. / (... from Russia, Republic of Karelia, Petrozavodsk city).

Ну неужели же перед концом эксплуатации, нельзя было по 3-4 экземпляра летных, в музей поставить, и законсервировать. Не выпотрошить что бы только оболочка осталась, а именно что бы летать в любой момент можно было на нём! Эх мааа!!😡😡😡

Do they still have the original engines on them or do you have to swap them out for something more modern (or at least with more readily available parts)?

The Mig 17 is such a beautiful airplane. So glad to see it flying like if it were the 50's. Kudos to the mechanics and pilots for loving these wonderful machines.

It's like the engineers took a jet engine, stuck it in a metal tube, bolted on some wings and slapped a saddle on it, added a bubble canopy on top so they can see and said, "Here ya go cowboys. Have fun!" So awesome!!

this is one of the coolest looking planes i have ever seen so 50ths style i can really imagine how the engeneers watched it in awe when they first saw it fly, like we do in this video. how can something like this even exist. While looking so cool. Im stunned. Also the pilot and the footage made is INSANE

В 90х когда шёл большой распил всего советского, американцы часто скупали советскую технику, а в России просто небыло на это денег даже у фанатов. Именно советские офицеры продавали задаром всё что было создано большой страной. Теперь локти кусаем. А почему не встали на защиту Советского Союза в 91м? Предали присягу и родину? Джинсов хотелось и колы с бургерами? Американцы потому и молодцы, что готовы уничтожить всех, кто решит изменить их империю, наши же за ваучеры продали.

@@thmmey7403 Это МИГ-17, у МИГ-15 не было аэродинамических гребней на крыльях, фюзеляж короче, стреловидность меньше и много чего еще

I am so thankful for all the people that put the hard work and passion into keeping these old jets in such great condition and in the sky. Not just doing a takeoff and a pass here and there but actually flying these things. It is one thing to see these jets in a museum or in pictures but its another thing entirely to watch them fly. It is certainly a labor of love.

It's interesting to observe the effects of airflow on engine performance in the early jets. It might be just coincidence but you can see when he pulls up sharply, he gets compressor stalls until the AOA settles down again at the top of the loop. Inlet design obviously advanced right along with all the other technology.

He really does have style flying this nimble 'little' scrapper. In my opinion he always flies THE BEST aerial display on the civilian, jet warbird 'tour'! He keeps it FAST! He keeps it LOW! & He keeps it SAFE! I’m a bit surprised that the FAA doesn't prevent him from flying some of these manoeuvres? I don't think that he would be allowed to fly so low at an airshow in Canada? It has been a true treat to see the MiG-17 fly in person and on RU-vid. I have read so many stories from US Pilots flying over North Vietnam and having to contend with this nimble little beast in their much heavier Phantoms & Thuds. Cheers!🇨🇦🍺🇨🇦

Amazingly outstanding!!! I haven't caught a buzz like that since I worked around areal applicators (crop dusters for damn sake!) back in the early 80's. That was LOW. This also scratched an itch that started this morning on Twit... X with a video a friend posted of a MiG-17 flying off a beach in Miami and heading for the stratosphere before the video cuts off. It was a tease! I'm hoping it shows up at Oshkosh. It is not this one. It looks completely different in markings.

Американцы любят авиацию и её историю. Как-никак, авиация это, фактически, и есть суть их армии. Как артиллерия и ракеты суть нашей армии, но пушки и РСЗО так красиво не выделываются в воздухе, как самолёты. А ракеты улетают слишком быстро😅

Always a joy to see old planes in action! It's a shame USSR didn't have an interest in preserving at least some of the retiring planes (and tanks) in working condition for historical and public entertainment shows, and private iniatiative in Russia only started gaining traction a decade or so ago. Maybe we'll see some of these pulled off pedestals and restored to airworthiness too, until then we'll have to settle with videos from across the ocean.

Пьяный что ли? Это шоу и люди на нём деньги зарабатывают, а не "поддерживают" чего то там на ходу. Перестанет приносит деньги, сдадут в металлолом 😂 Ну и да, последнюю фразу прежде чем использовать, выучи хоть что она означает на языке местных. У них это называется выписать невесту. Фраза пошла из книги про Бонда, где он в России нашел доступную любовницу и увез к себе на потехи. Жутко пошлая фраза.

The countries of Eastern Europe are full of spare parts, and here in Hungary these jets were in service until 1974.

@@Jarek_73 Army storage depots often have a lot of old junk for one reason or another. Especially in Eastern Europe where they had a lot of things in service from 1-2 generations before. Croatia still uses MiG-21 for example, and Romania retired it just a year ago, and that's a 1959 plane.
