Steve, I appreciate your professionalism. Getting these stories on historical record will be appreciated for a long, long time.

Another superb interview with Chuck Magill. The information, here, is so much easier to take on-board, for me, because it is relayed to the point, without 'Gung-ho' bluster or hype. Words spoken quietly, as they impart knowledge, are so much more conducive to most learning curves, I think. Chuck is, without doubt a very brave, vastly experienced professional. Most such men and women are softly spoken: yet their respective mannerisms must not to be confused with weakness in any form. Listening to your questions and your interviewees replies fills me with confidence, in the knowledge that 'we' are blessed to have such folk protect us. Fair play.

I remember reading his story 3-4 after Desert Storm as a small kid barely understanding what he described and what happened. I was amazed though looking at his photo with mighty F-15 fighter. Thanks for inviting Sly Magill to the interview!

Its incredible to me, incredible......that the Navy would look at the early F-18 and say to themselves...."Yea, we don't need RWR. who cares if someone is targeting us"

Thanks as always Steve - AWESOME interview. It is cool to hear the story from the other four-ship lead to fill in the rest of the story from Kluso! He also confirmed a lot of things I already knew, like that the Eagle was much better than the Hornet back then...first time I ever heard anyone admit it! You have started '22 with some great stuff...hope you can keep it up! Marco

Great interview and interviewee, as always. I have read somewhere that the Iraqi Mig-29s didn’t have Archer capabilities back then. I’ve always wondered if the allied pilots knew that as in WVR that would’ve been extremely dangerous. And yet when you hear pilots discussing their engagements you never hear them mention being worried about it or even avoiding a merge.

Much appreciated, Al! I really hate adverts on tiny channels like mine (they sort of make sense when someone can actually make enough income to give up their day job), so appreciate you subscribing and sharing with your contacts.

Amazing combat story. The inclusion of the flight plan with the map of that mission made me remember how hard was mission planning in that era and before that. When we, "aircraft enthusiasts", sit in front of our PCs and try to simulate that missions in DCS or falcon 4 BMS, we put our missions together with a couple of tools in 20 minutes or so, forgetting how hard mission planning is really. Cheers for the interview again, Steve!

So true. I remember the mission planning software for Digital Integration's Tornado being very cool and later learning that DI actually did the development for the RAF's mission planning software as an offshoot of the game.

....Sly about the F/A18. And who could have thunk thatvdress buttons couls say so much about relations. All very interesting and entertaining as are all the other posts I have heard. Also great the way you give your guest time to evolve their story rathar than rush them. Thank you for all your efforts, they are unique in this genre. I am circulating your most worthile site.

A great interview with considered questions that get to the heart of what it takes to operate at that level of excellence and how the fog of war gets in the way. I’m impressed how your relationship the Desert Storm F-15 veterans encourages them to open up to you (and us) about their feelings of nerves and even their adversaries. The Eagle drivers I met on Red Flag would not have admitted to them!

Great one and first time visiting this channel - sub'd . A Marine pilot flying F15's opening day Desert Storm .... crazy story . I guess you never know where you may end up but he seems like a real solid rock type of guy that people want him on their team .Take the arrogant pilots out back and slap them around ... HaHaHa ...
