@@Uchihaayoub The Russian take over was pretty brutal. There were 3 countries there previously. Dagestan, Chechnya, and Circassia. They all fought the Russians for years, however Circassia was basically wiped off the map, and it's people were forced to flee. Dagestan and Chechnya didn't want to end up like that (chechnya almost did) so they compromised with Russia. In return for loyalty they have special legal privileges, and freedoms. For example Russia is Orthodox Christian, but those two are allowed to keep Islam as their state religion.
