Helluva fight. Ruddock tried "the Smash" on Tyson many times but couldn't stop him. Always admired Ruddock's toughness, courage, and sportsmanship. Great fighter.
Fightning with a broken jaw. Huge respect for Ruddock. This fight is so much better than the fights we see these days. This is the golden era for me personally..
Broken jaw one was a different fight I guess, there first meet. This was 2nd meeting. In the first meet they had rivalry and Mike had personal hatred. Here they look friends after the match. This is not that broken jaw fight.
Let's not pretend or ignore how small Tyson is compared to this tree trunk and a whole lot of heavyweights he fought all through his carriers. With that said, his delivery and execution is flawless and impeccable. Folks, please, let's give the man some credit and show more love. Kid Dynamite, I salute you and your immense courage and thanks for entertaining us.
Bro height don't matter when your built like an absolute tank Mike was smaller than all the heavyweights but only in height in actual build he was miles over them he was a massive brute with speed and defense and of course his mean ass power
Tyson broke Ruddock’s jaw in the 4th round, and the SOB still went the distance. If you watch the post fight in ring interviews his jaw is f#%^ed! What an unbelievably tough dude
@@Grassman6900 Ruddock was the better of a clean fight but boxing isnt always a ballet sometimes its an all out brawl my opinion Ruddock was the monster but he just couldnt knock him down Tyson was a beast
what i enjoy is watching fighters want to take each other's heads off during the fight, then ultimately embrace and show mutual respect after the final bell.
He fought a brave fight not necessarily the right one. Tyson broke Rudduck's jaw tho. He paid a heavy toll & found out that Tyson lived up to the hype of who he really was.
@David Mc First I am not saying that Tyson was the best boxer of all times their have been better than him but none of them did what he did at such a young age and that is a fact.
@David McRocky might have been the better fighter at his prime and beat Tyson as he had more battles and experience he fought a lot but Tyson in his prime didn't need to fight to many rounds to knock you out stiles make fights and everything has to do with father time no human can ever beat that.
@David Mc Tyson was not overated when he was a champion he beat what was there at the time and he managed to put all those championships together in one weight class not many did it before him and about the amateur fights it's good experience but when you turn pro it's a different ball game and as you know at one time the hwd fighters didn't weight more than 225 to 250 max and were fighting 15 rds it's a big difference it's different world today boxing is no longer what it used to be or used to mean.
@David McYou see we do agree on somethings and that is one of the reasons history is so important to remind us what truly matter at the time just like when Jessy Owens won the race.
Yea, amazing, what Razor endured and gaved to Mike in there is for total respect, he really endured some hard knocks, like george foreman, and yeah, AJ looks great to me, but these guys were different animals, but AJ is not that far, what a class he has
@@Mel-he1hg lol .. picture AJ sat on his stool askin McCracken "wot shot woz that Mike caught me with??" " Yeah AJ ... Emm he landed like 100 uppercuts alone .. Afta barely a rnd son .. It's hard 2 pinpoint wot shot it woz that caused the KO & 2 hav that 'Wot's goin on here look plastered all ova ur boat' son...!!" 🤣🤣🤣
The fight with David Tua vs Ike ibeabuchi Was more Savage and unreal Superior than this one Breaking record for most punches by heavyweights Till this day
Tyson wasn't kidding on Arsenio when he said Ruddock had his shorts up to his neck. But real talk, Ruddock took so much punishment only to get up every time, even smiling sometimes. That's a bad man.
Ruddock was a bad-ass and fearless. He took what Mike could dish out and had a hammer of his own! No fighters today could stand in there with these two.... nope.
Man I'm watching this guy for the first time.Im impressed. . I never seen anyone take it to Mike like this. Where's this guy now? He's a dog. Tyson could've lost this one. This the best sportsmanship I've ever seen in a Tyson fight. Kudos to the both of them.
@@tommyboy71 I actually seen the Holyfield's fights. I hadn't seen the Ruddocks. Never heard of him until this video. But thx for throwing that out there.
Yeah but the difference between this tyson and the prime tyson in 85-86-87 is the speed of the head mouvements, in the 90s mike never use or very rarely the head mouvement but yeah he his in a freaking shape
@@maximesarda5347 yeah I didn't like how stand up Tyson became under Richie Giachetti who was Larry Holmes long time trainer. This was the last time we'd see the true Iron Mike and it's to bad he never hooked back up with Kevin Rooney as Joe Frazier told him to. Mike disregarded the wisdom of a elder and has regretted it ever since.
ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-pSKsE-DCgyw.html rocky was small for boxing, too. in one interview he explains the technique that tyson would later go on to use to get in close. tyson often used this technique - ducking very low.: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_W2iGbwn1Qw.html
@Vex T Absolutely. Most of Tyson's 'low blows' were body shots (a few were indeed low, but nowhere near as many as the commentators and ref kept declaring). Think of it this way, although Tyson could be a bit 'dirty' at times in his prime (usually the elbow in one or two fights) he very rarely used low blows. The fights speak for themselves.
Anthony Campos when? This match i just watched ruddock take mikes best and still coulda won with a shitty brawler game plan not at all utilising his length, this dude gave mike a run for his money the 2nd fight no doubt.
@@JorgeRojas-ut3wj its not the same the shovel goes to the body and the smash goes to both head and body and smash doesn't have a fixed/definitive angle
Daniel Shaw Mike also didn’t train either so yeah any good fighter could’ve went the distance with Tyson stay out all night getting drunk a hang over doing coke yeah I see what you’re talking about.
Yes. He tried it against Berbick and missed with the uppercut before nailing him with the left hook to the temple to put him down. But against P Thomas, near the end Tyson connected with the uppercut and snapped Thomas' head way up and it was over about 30 seconds later.
ruddock could've had more chance of winning if he was faster he could've ended mike a lot of times but he just couldn't deliver it bc of his slow punches and the way he gets momentum for his smash punch
This is a different Tyson to the one who trained under Rooney. Tyson’s skills waned long before the Ruddock encounter. It was evident with his first bout with Bruno
9:32 I'm absolutely amazed that Mike didn't have any damage to his face! Donovan is a hard puncher, yet Mike is unscathed. Well done to both, a great fight.
True but I think thats because Ruddock never hit Mike at the same spot. He hit on body alot aswell while Douglas or Lewis were attacking same area using their jab. Also, Mike has always been durable despite if his size. Holyfield landed like 30 punches in last 2 rounds and Mike was still standing somehow, and the cut was from headbutt not punches.
@@vicrattlehead6386 @Vic Rattlehead yes, Tyson has a granite chin. I can't remember which commentary for which fight but the commentator said you can't put Tyson away with one punch. The guys who beat Tyson beat him but not easily without giving him everything they had. Even Lewis said in the post fight interview how shocked he was that Mike was able to take his right hands. The only time he wobbled back up was after the buster Douglas ko.
@@edgar22452 you mentioned that many times that i have to tell you a fact: bare hand punches do much more damage than the gloves , the power of it concentrates on single points that are knuckles unlike with gloves where it spreads. To put that in perspective, imagine someone hitting you with a bar of metal, would you like to take it 'bare' or engulfed in a pillow?
I think this is Tyson’s last quality win. Even though he was still a god at throwing combinations, the head movement and the constant bobbing n weaving is missing from his Rooney days. Man, imagine if Mike has kept Rooney on, would have loved to see that Tyson in that 90s mix with Holyfield, Lewis etc.
This my favorite Mike Tyson fight. Damn Rusdock is togh. He took multiple Tyson head shots and survived. Even when Tyson did knock him down, he jumped right back up. This was beautiful
In the entire boxing history we know only two atomic punch. Elder is big George who had in his mlddle age title. Another is the spiritual son of Ali. Mr Atom weapon. Tyson.
9:07 Referee: (thinking there'd be drama) It's over Mike, it's over (Mike hugged Ruddock for a crazy match) Alright alright alright... How can anyone hate this moment 😭🙌🏻🤣🔥
Wow now this was a fight. BOTH Men Deserve Mad Respect 💯 2 heavyweights blasting each other with some powerful punches that a topical man would fold to. An Unstoppable Force Meets An Unmovable object. Tyson Ruddock 2🥊
Never again will we see a fight like this. Trading these brutal power shots that would kill most men , this is very definition of disbelief. Boxing at its greatest dialed to 11. What else can I say other than legendary. 🥊
Ruddocks trunks were high. All of those weren’t low blows. Guys were afraid of Tyson going to the body and purposely wore their trunks high. Great fight though. Ruddock could have been an all time great but he fell in love with his power and became a headhunter. He was a good boxer.
To be honest Tyson could never handle really Great Fighters. All Really Great Fighters he ever faced brutally knocked him out. Starting with Douglas who was only a really Good fighter.
@@Jesusislord3334 Tyson knocked buster douglas out he won that fight by that time it was like a pitbull who lost his fighting spirit tyson is best brawler hands down
What a great punch Ruddock used in that fight, dropping his arm and whipping in that uppercut, must be really hard to see that coming. Brilliant fight, brilliant fighters.
@@REYisKING so what your saying is Tyson isn't up to much as a boxer and all his success was due to Kevin Rooney ... Enough with excuses , as opposition improved Tyson lost as do so many great fighters , with Rooney he didn't blow away bonecrusher Smith or Tony tucker. Dosnt really say much for Tyson as a fighter if he can't win without Rooney does it ??
This is what heavyweight fighters and fights should look like. Exciting, full of power and skills in the middle of the ring toe to toe. Gone are those days, sad.
