There will never be anyone else that even comes close to measuring up to Tyson. Greatest of all time in my opinion. He fought every fight without an ounce of fear. I love watching his fights. So fast and strong it’s unreal.
I am a huge tyson fan but in this bout andrew was really doing good. Tyson threw lot of heavy punches and andrew countered them with equally well established blows. He did not look scared or intimidated by Tyson. I think he took a very wise step. Sometimes u need to back out and cry out loud to avoid grave repercussions.
Mike was the master of squatting, dipping, weaving and bobbing. HE had such strong leg power, that just THRUST him up into you. HOWEVER! Basically when Mike landed that FIRST overhand powerful RIGHT!!!! THAT took the fight of of Golota!
Took the fight out of Golota? I suggest you read up on why he left the ring. BTW technically Tyson won but this fight was ruled a no contest after Tyson got popped for weed.
@@dereknyc4402 the reason he left the ring was because he sustained a concussion, a fractured cheekbone and a slipped-disc..the right hand of Tyson put it on him...
Golota was already gravely injured, and could have faced death in that fight if it would continue like that. We were only in round 2! And he had fractured cheekbone, and a spine problem. Get hit like that for another 6 rounds and he gets carried out in a coffin. The guy didn't really know, but his instinct kept him from meeting his end there.
Any fight of Tyson is the ingredient of a hollywood film...the guy has his place in Guiness records and with the rare real living legends in the planet...his destiny was to be fantastic wonderfull unique....From the world presidents and kings..to the poorest people..everyone on earth love this guy...
I think if you dig deep enough you'll find he suffered a severe concussion early on in the fight. From memory a broken rib to boot. Kudos for calling it a day when he did - if you have ever suffered you'd know
The people didn't show any respect for him that's why they threw things at him also Golota would have been a champion if he wasn't so dirty he had the skills to been a champion but he kept hitting Bowe down there and wouldn't listen to trainer Duva that's y Duva cut him loose
Early in 2001, the Michigan Athletic Board of Control issued a three-month suspension to Tyson based on his refusal to submit to a pre-fight urine test, opting instead to take one after the fight.[6] Days after his suspension was announced, it was discovered that Tyson had tested positive for marijuana after the fight.Because of this, his victory over Golota was overturned and changed to a no-contest.
Absolutely Sofia. Golota is a very big dude. He was doing okay in there, I thought! But nobody knows but him what that felt like... Still, it's very unusual to see a boxer quit like that. I wonder whether he was allowed to keep his full purse after that.... Golota certainly had the physicality to put it on Tyson....Mike Tyson never got off the floor to beat anyone. Mentally, he could be 'got to', as Holyfield proved, for one. Still, not this night. Mike got his job done :-)
Read up on why he left the ring. Basically that right gave Golota a broken jaw and a broken vertebrae in his neck. Doctors said if Tyson got him again Golota would most likely be paralyzed. And this fight go ruled a "no contest" after Tyson got popped for weed.
Golota gave his best shot, he caught Tyson a few times, good clean shots. He tried and knew if he were to continue, he was going to get badly hurt, his corner should be ashamed of themselves, they weren't interested in his safety or wellbeing.Tyson seemed sluggish but landed very solid shots . Golota deserves respect he lasted a little longer than some very top rate heavyweights.
People don't realize, Andrew had a major concussion and a herniated disc in his neck from that right hand. He went right to the hospital. The doctor said one more big hit could have ended him. He was smart to get out.
He made the right decision to stop ...it's not worth permanent damage or worse. It ain't like he gave up to peewee herman, this is Mike freaking Tyson!...I'd piss myself and drop just having him look at me!
Mike looked such a savage and terribly unhappy here. He was high and wanted to kill the other guy. Thank goodness his unhappy days are over. Also it was smart of golata to quit that fight, he was seriously hurt and struggling to talk properly in the post fight interview.
According to news sources, Golota had a fractured facial bone, and a ruptured disk in his neck. He told his corner he needed to quit, but they ignored him. Finally, he told the referee and left the ring. It is a good thing he did, because when he went to the locker room, he passed out and had to be hospitalized.
in 2000, he faced former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson. Tyson knocked Golota down in the first round, and in between rounds Golota told his corner to stop the fight but his corner talked him into continuing. In the third round, as he had done in the Grant match, Gołota told the referee he did not want to continue, despite his team desperately urging him on. He later claimed a headbutt impaired him during the fight, which was one of his main reasons for deciding not to continue. The result of the fight was later changed to no contest when Tyson failed a post fight drug test, testing positive for marijuana. Following the Tyson fight, Gołota was inactive for nearly three years before returning to the ring on 14 August 2003.
I forgot all about this fight, stunning to see Golata just quit like that; i think it was more than the knockdown too, seems like he was fighting some of his own demons in his head too. He just didn't want to fight anymore. He wanted his corner man to throw in the towel after the first round.
THIS guy is like many who didn't want to loose to a black guy. HE was about to be truly embarrassed. PLUS he had made the money as soon as he stepped in the ring. HIS day was DONE!. AND THIS annoying guy overlaping the original sound track.!!!!!!!
I don't know why Golota quit so soon. He still had a lot of low blows, head butts, and bites to the shoulder left in him to get him back into the fight.
@@Buisness1 that is racist as hell for no reason...I like tyson and he used to say very racist things...racism has no reason to be brought up...unless your the racist
Gloats was a tough Heavyweight and fought some good fights… Tyson is…well he’s Tyson and on occasion he could end a fight on one punch… That first round knockdown did irreparable damage physically, mentally and apparently emotionally… Don’t fault Golata for stopping the fight. This was a genuine TKO. Golata had serious injuries from that overhand right….

Mike Tyson is a boxer who is very polite and respect to all his opponents. When shaking hands on the boxing ring he always reaches out first, does not talk to much even does not talk at all. When his opponents exprinces bad things due to his blow, he then helpraise his opponent. A very commendable brush.
There is a little guy that has the last name Fairtex from Thailand or some such place years ago that loved the anything-goes fighting that would help His opponent back up too. He would sometimes stand and let His opponent keep punching Him in the face. He was fighting for the championship and was ahead on points of a fight etc. Near the end of the close fight, the other guy caught Him a good one and He started motioning the other guy to "come on and punch Me thing" the guy did so many times that Fairtex lost on points. I liked His style He had about fifty fights in Asia and I hated to watch Him lose a championship that way. Yup G-G
Andrew Golota sustained a concussion, a fractured left cheekbone and a slipped-disc neck injury in this bout, according to a neurosurgeon that treated him at a Chicago hospital.
Зрелищный бой.. Голота делал все, что позволял ему его уровень. Он просто не мог попасть в Майка и оказался безпомощным.. А у Тайсона был еще порох) По крайней мере для Голоты хватило.
Anyone watching this with a clean eye can see that Tyson was not himself either. He looked slower and gassed. Even he didn't look like he wanted to be in the fight. But still the best of his era. Many who fought him and won did so after he lost his passion for fighting. After you realize you taking all the licks and then someone else taking all your money, you're not driven.
I have always admired Mike Tyson fighting styles. I have tried to emulate him. He kept his guard up at all times. I use to box. My dad hated me fighting. I did it for self-defense and it kept me in shape.
Solo poquito. Todos las gran peleadores ya se retiraron
Galota quited for his own good. He did the right thing preventing more injuries and had the feel to stop the fight for his own good. His face had broken bones that could lead to catastrofic injuries if he continued. His corner, trainer and the crowd throwing food over him are selfish people which dont care about Galota's health.
Golota gets way too much hate for this. He did well getting up from the knockdown and trying to come back in the second round even though Tyson's punch had basically finished him already. He had a broken jaw, fractured neck and head trauma. Just because you cannot see the damage doesn't mean there isn't any. He did well not listening to his disgrace of a trainer and quit.
I agree. Tyson was missing on a lot of punches. Stay in a little longer, get hit with a good shot and stay down. Quitting seems like a disgrace, just like his corner said.
mike wasn't in his prime here not even close .. he had already lost to Douglas and holyfield ...his conditioning looked terrible and timing way off but he still had thunderous power to be honest golatta felt that power and didn't want to end up in a wheel chair ..you can't stand in front of Tyson the way he did or you're going down..can't say I blame golatta even though many people saw it as an act of cowardice. most men would have been comatose from the shots golatta took that night ..don't judge until you've been there yourself.

Tyson was reaching way in when he hit him with that right and if you watch him box he's actually throwing his body towards his opponent when he swings he does it a lot and a lot of fights I believe he could be a lot better if he didn't do it it /could be a thing with his height I don't know......
Гендлин дает не полный перевод. Голота тренеру: -останови бой, у меня сломана челюсть. Тренер: -даже не думай! И Голота всё сделал на свой лад. А что бы вы сделали на его месте?
You can see Mike’s concern for Andrew. Crowd as usual has no idea, his face is broken from the knock Down in the first. That punch in the first would have knock out just about any one especially Costamato
Respect for golota....he realized he didn't have the skill level or discipline to compete with disciplined skilled pros...Lennox proved that...he made a life decision that night...sign of intellect...he walks and talks today...
@@ickdon7999 it would have been worse if he stayed in there and got killed...good decision for him, doesnt matter what people think, it took guts to do what he did knowing people would say stuff like your saying about him now....
Even at this stage in his career Tyson was very elusive and hard to hit. Andrew just wasn't aggressive enough to connect with enough punches. Maybe he was hurt from the 1st round knockdown. He did get up quickly so credit to him for trying to continue.
at the end as well the trainer was pushing him to get back in the ring... not to quit. I don't agree with the trainer.... we are talking about Mike Tyson here...
Golota had already had a concussion and fractured cheekbone. You could see it in the middle of the 2nd. Also reported afterwards he had a herniated disc. Prob from the way he went down in the first. It was a bad look on Golota the way he quit, but once that came out, it made sense.
@@BigNickSnr definitely, I whole heartedly disagree with the way his trainer treated him. When a professional is acting that way it is probably for a reason

In a nutshell he I never been hit that hard in his life. He threw the best he had and Mike ate it like it was lunch at first I didn't understand why the referee had to break them so much but basically it was because he was grabbing on Mike so that he could stay on his feet he understood what his corner didn't he made a good decision he was in the ring with a different kind of animal
Man I can't believe that Ivan Drago quit I believe this is the same infamous Ivan Drago that came out on the movie Rocky 2 or 3 or 4 which ever one it was. When he says if he dies he dies I think that's probably what was going through his head when Mike Tyson was unleashing those fist iron blows on him. That's probably why he said f*** that I'm quitting before this fool kills me.
