I feel like Mariah's team was distracted with E=MC² having already made a number 1 single, they got failed to recognize the potential of Migrate. It was definitely a missed opportunity.
I would argue that this album was the most mismanaged in her entire career in terms of timing and promoting the wrong single choices in the wrong chronological order. MIGRATE would have been the perfect choice for the lead single as part of her sensational first tummy tuck Jenny Craig slim and svelte return to top form. I would have then as a second single released 'Touch My Body'. LOVE STORY could have become THE Valentine's Anthem of all time if it had been promoted that way. SIDE EFFECTS and THANKS 4 NOTHING would have been a far better choice for a single than BYE BYE. Urgh, I am still so aggravated over this whole messy period.

Not really just 2003-2006, in 2008 her vocals were very weak because she overworked herself, and didnt tour because of a Miscarriage, but she looks so goood in 2008, I still think that was probably her best looking era, all her looks just screamed Diva
if I had the power of change the past, DEFINITELY I wold force Mariah and her team to release migrate has an single... one of her best songs, so underrated.
This would have been a big hit. Why they didn't release this is as a single is beyond me. Its so catchy. It might not have been as big as touch my body but I bet it would have been in the top five on the charts.
I have to share this: has anyone noticed at 3:48 T-pain is shocked that Mariah is belting some live notes. He’s watching in awe. When she says slow 3:57
As a non-fan I must admit that this song would have become her 19 #1 in the US and one of her biggest singles worldwide. It's rooted in hip-hop and R&B, two leading genres of that time period, but it also has a distinctive electropop influence, sound that was literally blowing up in the late 2000s with rise of Lady Gaga or Kesha. Moreover, it's ultra catchy and has T-Pain on it, which would have propelled the song to the top of the charts. And that auto tune! It gave this song an extra edge! Definitely a hit that got away!!!
she is just so smart. I love her ! Beautiful, genius, most people just do not get how intelligent she is in lyrics, rythm and melody. Mariah, you are such a wonderful 2.0 human being and ARTIST !
People were not nice about this performance at the time. No one had heard this song prior to this performance and Perez Hilton was really nasty about her vocals/the performance in general. I remember the reception not being great and I believe this is why the focus went to Bye Bye instead of Migrate for the next single. Such a waste! This song is suuuuch a bop.
Why in the hell does any critic, Perez or or not get any notoriety? They usually are untalented haters anyway wishing they were on the place if the actual artist.
In that time I remember that Disco will send to the radios and released on the catalog on billboard, but few days after they cancelled. People said it happened because Perez Hilton. He did a bad review about that song and disses Mariah.
She was probably saving her vocals for the climax lmaoo, this specific song had autotune incorporated for fun, so the verses are harder to sing lol....
Migrate had a good peak in the hot 100. Mariah said on Twitter that she was blocked when she wanted to make a single. She was in top physical shape. A good clip like Touch My body would give it a top 10 for sure
I LOVE when Mariah performs with this Aries energy! 🔥 📛 Her performance from the Philippines is another time when she performed the entire time looking hot as Hell, and her energy was very much giving.. "I know I'm so hot tamales"
Love it, thanks for sharing. I saw that you have the whistle Can't let go video, and they blocked all you uploaded :(, do you think you can send me that vid, i've been ages looking for that video, it was in youtube back then but it dissapeared a couple of years ago, i really want to watch it again, thanks in advanced :)
Love this song and performance. 3:46 “Soon as walk through the doooooor” is lipped ( you can hear her whispering at “doooor” as she is blending the backtrack with her low volume vocals). The rest of the song is live including the belts in the last part which I am livinggg for to this day.
@@shadowcArey I think I’m going to partly agree with you. Listening to it over and over again she is definitely belting “soon as you walk “ ; however, the backtrack vocals’ volume was raised to avoid imperfections. And you can tell there is a strong backtrack present because she lipped “through the door”. This is noticeable as her next words “like yooooo” (live) are totally different in sound quality than “through the door”, even her body (head) language changes (it relaxed) when she just struggled to sing/belt “soon as we walk” . This was an awesome performance and I won’t criticize her for this minor lipped moment.
Hello there the number one Mariah Carey admirer here to correct you guys all of you are completely wrong let's not forget who we're talking about it's Mariah Carey she has been known to sing some songs with lip that's usually after she gets done completing an album however this performance was actually a tester performance for the song originally Jermaine Dupri was supposed to rap on this song that fell through because he was overseas at the time and couldn't make it to the studio T-Pain is already at the studio and that's how we have the birth of this song performance-wise Mariah Carey actually did the whole song live with no backtrack all backup singers the only one that had a backtrack what's T-Pain because of the Auto-Tune how you know Mariah Staying Alive pay attention to her neck area you can see her neck flex and pulsate as she gets the vocal out you can't fake that which means you are really singing long story short she sang the whole thing live you guys are wrong
It makes me just kinda angry because everything with this era was going right in my opinion. Mariah physically was looking GORGEOUS and the music in general was of the time but still sounded very good. If they had simply released Migrate or Side effects as a second single (those were obviously the most urban radio friendly for the time) it would've been another easy number one and completely changed the direction of her career. Just ughhhhhhhhhh
One of my favorite songs from her E=MC2 album, definitely was happy I bought the album when it came out. I wasn't really that big of a fan of hers before but it definitely changed my mind lol I ironically don't think of "Touch My Body" and "Bye Bye" as the best songs on the album tbh
