Suddenly on the night before the NBA Draft, the New York Knicks acquired Mikal Bridges in a trade with the Brooklyn Nets in exchange for a ton of draft capital and Bojan Bogdanovic. It's a shocking move to say the least. This pairs him up with Jalen Brunson, Julius Randle, Donte Divincenzo, Mitchell Robinson, and Josh Hart in New York to form one of the most formidable rotations in the entire NBA. Not to mention, if they're able to retain OG Anunoby and / or Isaiah Hartenstein in Free Agency. They've established themselves as a bonafide second best team in the East behind the Boston Celtics, and they may not be done yet. Additionally, the Houston Rockets seem to be trying to get Phoenix Suns picks in order to eventually pursue Kevin Durant or Devin Booker. So, let's talk about it.

I disagree with the assumption that this is a deal that you make if you think you’re gonna lose OG, honestly it’s quite the opposite. You’re now showing him, “Hey, we’re not gonna rely on you for 48 minutes of elite defense in the playoffs again because we got someone who can help you out” He’s probably more likely to sign now than he was before they had him. Health has always been a concern with him and we just got an Iron Man.

I don't think that OG is going to be all happy with this addition, the reason that he got out of Toronto was to be a more prominent part of the offense, there is a chance he walks, minimal chance but there is, the real problem is that Hartenstein is almost 100% gone if OG comes back

If Knicks can keep Hartenstein and Annouby plus retain there bench depth. They are instant title contenders idk a team as deep as them in the league. Celtics are more top heavy and have a better starting lineup but depth wise nobody can match the Knicks. If they retain Annanouby and Hartenstein.

Not an over pay at all, this is the cost to get a 2 way player, still in his 20s, from a city rival, and still under contract. Tons of teams were interested, mikal was going somewhere, it was just who could offer the most.

Pretty much the Houston Rockets are hedging their bet that the Phoenix Suns are going to implode which honestly the way things are looking is pretty likely for Phoenix or if the suns want to trade Kevin Durant they might just take less if it means they get their own draft picks back because remember they only have two tradable assets, which is Kevin Durant/Devin Booker because Bradley Beal is has a no trade clause and almost no team will ever accept his contract that he is not worth so honestly this is a pretty good deal for both teams .

I think the Knicks should move on from Randle. They should try to get the salary cap relief they need that way. I would rather have Hartenstein than Randle on their roster. Trading Randle also creates more playing time for Hart and Divincenzo. I just don't think you need Randle chucking shots at the 4 when you have this many good wings.

Dude they gotta get og resigned. There is literally not a better 3 and d wing duo then mikal and og. They then probs have to trade randle in order to resign hartenstein. They then should go after someone like dorian finney smith or try to sign tobias harris to take randles spot at 4. Harris is an ok shooter ok dribbler ok defender. Brunson mikal og harris hartenstein with hart dante robinson off the bench is a really really solid looking team.

as a Nets fan it always bothered me whenever I saw people clowning and hating on Sean Marks. Obviously the past 5 years werent great, a lot of ugly stuff happened and the team fell apart but in my opinion (just a fan on the internet) it was never on Sean Marks. He built the team back from the disastrous KG trade, brought in KD and made a legit championship roster. It fell apart because the organization dint manage their stars well, fired Kenny Atkinson (at the request of KD) and Joe Tsai being a dumbass.

Nah he fumbled a championship team When Kyrie and KD were injured in the 19-20. The nets could’ve tanked and got a lottery pick. Also missed out on a chance to get Jrue Holiday when he left the pelicans when one of the biggest problems was their defense. Traded Jarrett Allen away when they needed size then got bullied by Giannis in the playoffs . Hired Steve Nash kept him for too long. Then Traded for Harden. When it comes to rebuilding a team he’s pretty good but building a competent championship roster he’s absolutely terrible. The nets should sell the team Joe Tsai sucks too. Everything I hate about the Nets my Thunder are great and this is coming from a Brooklyn resident.

Hiring Steve Nash was a mistake but that was because KD wanted Kenny gone and he got his wish. I agree that trading Allen away was a mistake but again, KD wanted his buddy DJ starting center and KD wanted Harden too and the organization gave KD what he wanted. Either way you can’t really say Giannis bullied us when we din’t even have Harden or Kai on the floor and it still went 7 games and OT. No team will make it far in the playoffs without 2 of their top players. They would have definitely won the 2022 championship if it wasn’t for Ky and Hardens injuries. All this to say is that there is a lot of blame to go around and Marks isn’t perfect by any means but to say that him alone fumbled a championship is absolutely ridiculous And also yes, fuck Joe Tsai.

I think as much as it is a very expensive deal for Mikal, we need to step back and think about the Rudy Gobert overpay here. Despite paying more than people thought was a good idea, it made them from a fun up and coming team, into a potential defensive powerhouse that can go deep in the playoffs. The Knicks were already a deep team and really good, Bridges can certainly pull them over the top. If they can somehow hold on to OG, they will be a contender easily. This is like the Boston Celtics team in how good their starters are, except it has a great bench, a ton of hustle and a really good leading scorer and playmaker leading the team. Also, I'm somewhat happy for the Nets too, as they are finally fully into rebuilding mode and they are looking like the next OKC Thunder with the amount of treasure they are gathering. Now they need to hit on draft picks over the coming seasons and they can go places.

So the Rockets' big plan is to bring in a 36 year old KD who is already very much showing signs of aging. Like at this point o his career KD is just not a 3 level scorer, he can basically never get to the rim and shoots like 3 threes per game. That paired with his constant injuries just means that despite the NBA media pretending otherwise KD is just not nearly the player he used to be and his one-dimensional game can and has been exploited in the playoffs.

I do understand where ur coming from but 27-7-5 on 52-41-86, 63% TS, on mainly jumpers. Played elite defense all year.(Even if he's not known for his defense) Played 75 games. At age 35. I mean that's still pretty good and I think the reason why the suns overall sucked is because their team overall was just not good at all. eps when ur asking the 3 stars to play defense which isn't really what Beal, Booker, and KD are known for but if you can put KD in a squad like HOU or OKC he's still pretty damn good.

I think their plan is to try to get booker and honestly, Phoenix is running out of time because they’re stuck with Bradley Beal there’s almost no way this team can get better and even if Houston doesn’t one of those guys guess what they’re going to have really good draft picks because the suns are gonna be awful so it’s a win-win situation for because I guarantee you that the sun wanted to rebuild they’re gonna try to trade with Houston first and honestly might take less draft picks if it means getting their own picks back

That wasn’t a “massive haul”. Y’all don’t know nothing about basketball. Y’all just have access to cameras and WiFi signals. Other teams were already offering the nets 4unprotected first round picks for Mikal Bridges plus young talent. The reason the Knicks gave them the picks is so they keep their team in tact. The Knicks second and third string lead them to the second string in the East and to within one game of the Eastern Conference finals. They did this missing 4 starters one of which is an all nba player meaning top 15 player. Boston wouldn’t have been in the finals if the Knicks was healthy. Knicks was better than them. The Knicks still have all their draft picks in today’s draft two of them are first rounders. Going forward they still have 5 first in the next 3 drafts after this one. In my opinion, I think this just means Julius Randle is out with Josh Hart proving he could play the four with his excellent rebounding and his defense and if they could at least get some solid role-players /draft picks I think that’s a huge upgrade because I don’t think Randall really fits this team anymore yes I do think they overpaid for bridges but if they can get something for Randall I think this is a really good trade for both teams honestly .

@@carterharris6561 Dvo is going back to the position we signed him to play and Bridges is going to give us his production and then some. Bench instantly upgraded. Great problem that isn’t a problem.

OG is probably gone. Bridges has a better defense rating, last year which was surprising. Randle may be traded and Isaih prob gone. I see Knicks going after another center/forward.
