The show Diana was on is called "You Are Super", designed to showcase the talents of disadvantaged children. In this performance Diana was aged 15 - she is now 17. If you look at her own RU-vid channel there are many performances not from this show, however, I would suggest listening to her rendition of "Rechenka" , from "You Are Super", when she was 14 - absolutely epic....

This is one of my favorite covers, except that it's way too short since it is just an audition piece. I would LOVE to hear Diana perform the song in its entirety, in her style. She's golden. There are many things to be found all over the internet with her singing. She also has her own channel. On her channel, she covered the song Havana by Camila Cabello. It really looks like Diana had a lot of fun covering that song, she did it in her room while in quarantine. Definitely worth a look. :)
OH you have to react to "Rechenka" (sorry probably spelled that wrong). Diana was 15 here, and she is a rare true contralto...Rechenka is spectacular and she was 14 when she did it.

Diana has a true contralto voice with an amazingly unique timbre. She is also good at yodelling, which she incorporates into songs in ways that sound great. For a performance with no judges, see her performances of "Intro" and "В небо (Official video)". However, I definitely recommend her performance of "Реченька" (river).
You have just listened to what may be a true contralto. “Diana Ankudinova, A Russian National Treasure”, I have been following her for awhile. She is another very interesting story that you will discover. Wait until you hear “Take On Me” or "Human" or "Rechenka" Even though it is in Russian you still feel the emotion behind it. I've heard her sing in Russian, English, French, German and Spanish so far. No matter what language it is beautiful. Her Russian fans are the BEST!

The man that hit his button last (Igor Kutroy) is a very famous Russian composer that was retired until he heard Dimash sing. He came out of retirement to work with Dimash. Dimash sings a lot of Igor's songs and Igor composes new music for Dimash.
Tip of the iceberg guys! Diana has a pretty unique vocal ability (as you will hear if you listen to more of her performances. This Dramatic Contralto was 15yo here but has quite a few younger performances which will blow you away like "Me Voy" in Spanish, "Dernier Danse" in French, "Human" in English, "Blizzard" in Russian etc. etc. She's 17yo now and has released a few original recordings/videos "By your Voice" and "Into the Skies" are good places to start. @@rullmourn1142 she turned 15 during the course of this competition but was 14 when she started. The yodel technique is easily noticed in some of singing. When she was younger & before this competition she auditioned for Russian idol with a 100% song of her only using the yodel singing technique but none of the judges turned their chairs for her. This is what likely pushed her to change her techniques & development of her lower tone singing style

You know, I don't get the Cher thing and I have been listening to that lady since the mid 60s! I got you Babe, Little Man, Gyspies, Tramp, Ban Bang etc. - and was a great fan (until that 80s 90s autotune rubbish) Low register, maybe, but timbre, fullness - not like this young lady. @@MikeandGinger I think that for most English speaking people that the convention of the letters "DI" the emphasis is on the i as being literally that sound. Certainly I did. So while I didn't have problems sorting out the consonants by the vowels of her last name, it took me a lot of tries, even after hearing her name pronounced to re-learn that the di isn't alone but coupled with the n to be pronounced as deen and that it was the emphasis within the last name. Even now I have to think about placing the emphasis there. much fun. In the second pronunciation video, the announcer, who is Russian, didn't even try and made her do her own introduction.
