Mike Mew expelled from the British Orthodontic Society- right or wrong? The facts!

The British Orthodontic Society have unanimous expelled me from the society. I feel that this is unjust and unfair, and is a symptoms of a medical group unwilling to face the scientific facts, in this case that the condition that they are treating is predominantly due to the changes from how we evolved to live to how we are living now. The hard scientific evidence, the weight of quality research paper in respected peer reviewed journals clearly demonstrate this. This is not a genetic condition and treating as such is causing problems which I wish to highlight.
It seem that this is a case of shoot the messenger. It has been my aim to inform and assist the public, the benefactors of the British Orthodontic Society (a charity) and as well as support a campaign for a better understanding of what is occurring and how we might prevent this with simple public health measure; preventcrooked...

This channel is part of the International Association of Facial Growth Guidance. A nonprofit organisation which aims to raise awareness of alternative orthodontic methods and ideas, which too few people are informed of.
The main aim of the platform is to precipitate debate on why teeth are crooked. Most people are not aware that (in most cases) the dental profession has little or no idea why the teeth are crooked, or for that matter why children need major surgery. Clearly there are genetic issues, however the science is clear, the weight of quality research papers, in respected peer reviewed journals, show that our modern lifestyle is a more important factor and most importantly we can do something about this.
This is especially important as sleep apnoea, TMD, forward head posture and a most otolaryngology problems are implicated as other symptoms of the same underlying problem.

It is very frustrating, it is like being stuck in a movie where no one wants to believe the truth, everyone has been conditioned to believe the mantra of orthodontics and the idea that your face is set and unchangeable. I have appealed to numerous authorities and people, friends in influential places, and no one wants to hear, they find of laugh at me. I have all the evidence but no one wants to look at it, to consider the truth, they all know that I am wrong before I open my mouth. Then this social media thing gets going and all of you are listen. But I don't really see or meet you, and I have a strange connection to this group of people who give me strength. My life feels completely surreal. I see these people on the news for having achieved some small change who are congratulated and applauded, while no one is interested in this. But you give me hope, thank you very much. Mike

If you haven't already tried contacting the Joe Rogan podcast I'd highly recommend it. He often has discussions with Doctors from all kinds of fields and it would give enormous exposure to your cause

Im just a guy whos a factory worker, makes just enough to live by and found your videos about a week ago. Already you have taught me how to eat properly, chew properly, breathe properly and sit up straight. All for free. My dentist would never take the time to do that and he gets paid for it. This entire matter is as simple as this. You have discovered a breakthrough in facial and dental health that could prevent and even fix an extremely prevalent issue in today’s society; that being crooked teeth, and craniofacial distrophy. The breakthrough is an extremely simple to follow, natural technique of oral posture that doesn’t require the patient to spend any money. This measure of course, in turn would cost the orthodontic industry an immense amount of money, as so many patients wouldn’t need braces, which further damage people’s faces. Your expulsion is classic example of censorship with the intention to make profit, at the expense of the general public. This is the type of censorship one would hear about in a documentary or read in a history book. There is no place for such vile misconduct motivated by nothing but greed in the 21st century, when everyone’s main goal in life should be the betterment of our own selves. Not to worry, Dr. Mew. Once the public know of your techniques, they will stand by your side.

Well said. If you don’t mind me asking though, how do braces “further damage” ones face? I’m working on my oral posture, and all the other environmental factors that could contribute to to malloclussion, but I’m set to get braces in a couple months. Assuming I maintain the good habits, are braces actually bad?

Wanna know whats so ironic about this? The knowledge that Mike Mew is preaching isn't actually something new, for thousands of years humans have had overwhelmingly straight teeth and properly developed faces, its only in recent times that this silent epidemic of crooked teeth and badly developed faces has come about. There's a lot of wisdom in ancient culture, its interesting how for all of the technology we have developed, we have lost such a fundamental and healthy aspect of human life, straight teeth and well defined faces. Now got forbid someone like Dr. Mike Mew dares to question the knowledge of these high ranking ''medical professionals'', after all, they have PHDs and masters, what could some ''primitive'' hunter gatherer people from thousands of years ago be able to teach us.

@@mornoe5069 Well it depends on the braces. But traditionally they extract teeth as well and cram the teeth into a smaller space. And as a result of all that your jaws get set back which in turn makes you less attractive.

When I found your channel about two months ago I realized I had found the answer to the question I had been asking most of my life. Why, after years of braces and wisdom teeth removal, had my jaws grown wrong and my face crooked. After 10 years of orthodontics treatment I asked my orthodontist on one of my last visits, "so why do I still have such a bad underbite." It was my understanding, simple child as I had been, that I thought he was trying to fix my underbite, that for the thousands of times I was asked to "bite down," he was measuing how the underbite had changed for the good. He replied, "oh, you will have to have jaw surgery for that. But you will need to wait until you are 25 and have stopped growing." I was mad. What was he supposed to have fixed? Now I have relatively straight teeth but my jaw lower jaw is never at rest. The position it is forced into for biting is uncomfortable. For speaking, singing (which I was trained in and had to do a lot of work to overcome vocal issues because of my jaw position) sleeping and during the day it wants to come forward but my teeth don't meet so it is afloat, so to speak. A dentist looked at my teeth and few years back and told me my top front teeth are pointed inward and aren't allowing my lower jaw to come forward where it would be more comfortable and maybe revisiting orthodontics might help my jaw pain! I have looked up info on normal jaw positions on the internet and RU-vid for a few years and I wish I had come across your channel sooner, like in 2015. Everything you and your father teach makes sense. Finally....someone could tell me why. God Bless you and your father for the work you have done and will continue to do. You will have to pay a price for having the passion to help people be healthier and look better. You are not interested in maintaining the status quo, there are no answers there. This work will help the next generations avoid the health issues of their parents. Know that there are so many that are grateful for your passion and your willingness to take on this platform. i was so lucky to find this channel last year, even though i have braces now, i still practise mewing and the other exercises. my face did change a lot( thats what my friends say) i cant say whether its attractive or not but i belive its better for my health

What an absolute joke, look at what the average british teenager looks like in comparison with people from countries where children are not fed ultra soft foods growing up. Its clear though, the Orthodontic society wants people to continue paying an average of over 2000 GBP for braces and god knows how much for jaw surgery that both could've been avoided with a simple and affordable treatment for the child when he was developing. Its 100% about money, as you said Dr. Mike Mew, there's less money in prevention and more money in treatment

I don't think its about food though, this is about breathing issues, I had extremely bad hayfeaver as a child hence snoring all the time so I had my mouth open 8 hours + out of a 24 hour day. Suprise suprise my teeth start going crooked, the issue is definitely related to the tongue acting as a retainer holding things in place. I used to wonder why they say the tongue was the strongest muscle and for what reason but it makes sense now.

There's so much shady shit that goes on with so many orthodontists. Not once have I or my family had a good experience with one. The worst thing that has been done was when my father was very young, (he's 60 now), his orthodontist insisted he needed fillers when it clearly wasn't needed. It's only recently did I find out that fillers should be the last option, but over here, you can bet it's the first. They had tried to put fillers for my brother who was only bloody 12, ffs. I don't if it's just my area but I swear many orthodontists here are shady as hell.

I've been following Mr. Mew for a couple of years now and his teachings have drastically changed my life. I still struggle with the correct tongue posture, but I made breathing through my nose a habit and even this little thing improved quality of my life so far. Thank you, Mr. Mew, and carry on. As someone who had retractive ortho, went to 5 doctors over 20 years and was utterly failed by the current ortho structure, your work is the ONLY thing that got me out of 2 decades of pain. This is how medicine evolves and becomes better, they should see you as a partner, not a problem. That a group of doctors is doing this is horrific. Come to the U.S.A., you will have a home here. What you say makes perfect sense , I have now been following your advice for 2 years I used to snore very heavily in fact I was told whilst camping that it would have scared little children walking past the tent , I now don't snore anymore and think my face has become more defined . I began mewing on 7/13/2018, and I just got a compliment from a long time acquaintance on my chin. He said, and I paraphrase, "I used to just know you for your weak chin, but it's definitely not there as much anymore." Dr. Mew i really want to thank you and your father for all you have given and worked to bring this info out there. I remember being told alot of things when i was a kid like breath my nose and chewing mouth closed etc. I was ignorant to the consequences and bad postures and i was depressed at how i looked because i didnt understand why i looked different than my parents. I knew something was wrong and it created lots of psychological problemsfor me. The breaking point was when i got sleep apnea and i was going crazy even thinking about if giving up on life would be less painful. Because of your work ive worked hard to fix my posture and its improved my sleep and my health. Its been 7months and ivr already gained health gains. Dr. Mew, I don't know if you're reading this, but please know that you have many people's support around the world. I am trying to spread your message in my social circles whenever I can. I think your situation somehow resembles another brilliant scientist and physician from Britain, who unfortunately did not get the recognition and respect he deserved during his lifetime: John Yudkin. It is somehow tragicomical that the mainstream public have just recently started showing interest in his work, when he was right about the dangers of a high-sugar, high carb diet all along.

@@laurentheheiress98 It's John Yudkin. He and Ancel Keys were conducting research on the causes of cardiovascular disease in the 1950s-1960s, and had clashing claims. Keys thought that a high-fat diet was the culprit of many health problems. Yudkin claimed it was sugar and a high-carb diet (rightly so). Unfortunately, Keys' idea was more "profitable" at the time, so he got all the recognition and spotlight, while Yudkin got nothing and was harshly (unrightfully) criticised. Kind of like Dr. Mew, Dr. Yudkin had an "unorthodox" stand compared to the more widely accepted medical beliefs (which we now know were false) at the time. Shame that it took people decades to find out the truth. I hope this will not be the case with Orthotropics.

Helin Arik Yes I know of him, thank you. It's so tragic that the health of patients is knowingly damaged and Dr. Mew is silenced when so many like myself can be helped by him. I don't think this silencing will prevail though and at the very least individuals can be helped thanks to Mew's videos and we can prevent others from contributing to damaging traditional orthodontics. Just like today we know that high carb diets wreck health, maybe one day he will be accepted and be known as a Saint

Sorry to hear that Mike. The problem is also that the crooked teeth debate also opens up a lot of issues around children's health that the establishment want to keep a lid on. Vaccinations, low immunity, processed junk foods, sugars, pesticides etc resulting in poor gut bacteria and digestive issues are all contributing in that debate.

I am grateful. I'm trying to pass on the knowledge I've acquired so far and hopefully one day make a difference or help somebody out. Trying not to speak too much on something i dont understand. sometimes it's difficult to get across all the positive things about 'mewing' or preventing 'cranio-facial dystrophy'. for people with young children, but eventually more people will figure it out.

The BOS are just protecting their own interests (the greater of which is money, of course). There would be little profit to be made for everyone currently involved in the practice of Orthodontics if they're gaining no customers, due to would-be patients being able to correct or avoid issues due to a change in posture and food choices. As someone who's had braces and oral surgery, which resulted in an offset bite, TMJ, and a "reduced chin", applying the information from your lectures and videos over these past years have greatly helped to improve my bite, sinuses, and has greatly reduced my TMJ to the point that it's negligible. My lower jaw also sits correctly now and is well-defined. Godspeed, Mike Mew! Soon this information will take the world by storm.

Hey Dr. Mew. Once again it was a pleasure speaking with you. It is rare to find a physician/doctor who shares a passion for true health as you do. Most doctors/physicians/professionals abide to the status quo and this bores the hell out of me. We the people, we the patients, we the scholars, students, educators and health professionals want truth. The medical industrial complex has controlled patients and the dissemination of facts for over a century now, monopolizing the practice of medicine. Anything non-mainstream gets shunned. This story is all too common. But it doesn't matter. RU-vid is the future and you have created an amazing audience. Please write a book. Create courses. Retreats...something. There is SO MUCH you can do right now. Blessings and let me know if you have any questions about any of this. This is what many health educators are doing today, and it's created an alternate model of health education outside the academic setting. Let those old farts stick to their ways.

I’m so excited about this! I’ve always felt like there was something stuck on my throat, and I tried everything: from yoga to aromatherapy - and I’m SO SO grateful that through your scientific knowledge now I can understand (and clearly feel) that it was my tongue all along. In the beginning of 2018 I had my wisdom teeth removed. It was a well performed procedure. One month later I started having problems with bad occlusion and started having excruciating back pain due to it. I went back to the dentist to improve the occlusion, but it only solved a bit of the pain. I started searching for alternatives and found your videos. Decided to give it a try on chewing tough food and placing my tongue on the roof of my mouth. Z-E-R-O back pain ever since. AND I have the best posture I've had my entire life. Thank you so much.

I just started following you, I am a physio in the US. I've just started implementing your postural techniques personally and with my patients, appropriately within my scope of practice of course. But I have already seen an improvement in my patients with TMJ, cervical and should dysfunction, just with the tongue posturing added with other treatments. So you've not only helped me but them as well. Keep fighting the good fight. It is ashame that you have received such push back from your own.

I wish I knew of mewing earlier.. I always asked why my brother had a sharp jaw line and straight nose while my cheekbones are sunken in, and I discovered he always had good facial posture and oral posture which I never had. He also chewed his food more, and he disliked soft food unlike me :) I never saw him ever sleep with his mouth open as well! Whether or not the evidence points to this, I feel there is perhaps some truth to it - and Im practicing it now everyday in hope I can change my sunken cheekbones & fat face. I believe in posture - my ballet training says alot about how my body developed against my genetic pre-disposition, and the truth can be said about oral posture which I never had. Im well-past puberty, which is so sad.... Thank you for speaking out, thank you for highlighting this possibility. The industry will always be hating those who kill their money cow - but thank you for your research & for making us aware this might be the cause of our distress. Bless you & your research!!

Mike, I agree with the principles of orthotropics however, you have stated yourself on various occasions that your treatment methods only work in cases where the patient is motivated and disciplined enough to do the techniques you require of them, and getting them at a young enough age, like 6 or 7, hence the relatively high failure rate. Presumably alot of these kids that fail with orthotropics end up taking the conventional orthodontic/surgery route when they are older (with some success). Do you not see both disciplines working alongside each other, for the benefit of patients? Does it really need to be one or the other?

My trust still remains in Dr. Mew; the points he makes about the environmental causes that are likely to cause crooked teeth and such seem very reasonable and convincing. On top of that, i've been mewing for about half a year now and i've gotten results, positive ones, what more proof does one need. Granted you could say it are 'genetics' that made my face grow in the way it did, although i doubt it, i started as a child with a relatively wide face (was born with it pretty much), then got a noticeably 'taller' and slimmer face after orthodontic treatment, the growth from that point on until mewing was not widening of the face, like almost none. Then coincidentally right after a few months of mewing, my face did grow in width. That's kind of a strange growing pattern don't you think? From having your face grow in a way that only seems to make your face taller and only a slight bit wider to suddenly having your face grow a lot more in width and not even a tiny bit in lenght (i even feel like it has reduced in lenght?). Now how come? Well, it's cause mewing works and genetics wasn't it. Simple. (My theory _might_ be flawed or unfitting, i don't know for sure considering i'm not really an expert; but i still believe in mewing nonetheless. There have been other people with good forward growth results from mewing aswell, clearly proving mewing is doing something positive, for both health and looks, since health is intertwined with looks (the healthier a person is, and is developped, the better he/she will look,. Same applies the other way around))
