@@StefanSchmalhaus I have you number 1 also, with Nick Shibaz 2 & Apostle P 3... I would have had Jim Skelton in number 2, but he doesn't really do knife overviews anymore.
Stefan Schmalhaus you are 1,2,3 😆 But seriously you have mastered videography, editing and most important is your authenticity which is your passion for epicurean culture ? I don’t know. Your voice is the perfect tone for your style. I mean you have a distinctive signature. Every video feels like you put a ton of effort. Ok I’ll stop now because I feel your nature is to be humble. 😜
@@darthvaper6745 Thank you! - I'm a little surprised though because these reviewers have a strong focus on tactical knives, a knife genre I'm not interested in at all.
Beautiful knives. Delicious cheese and sausage, with herbs and wine.... Some of the best things in life. It's nice to see more French knives being made with locking blades - I prefer them as it's one less thing to worry about when using the knife.
I just ordered your book, Stefan-- based on a review by Eric over at Slick Slicers. It was quite apparent from his review that it was going to be a must-have knife reference, indeed!
@@StefanSchmalhaus Thanks, I have been a subscriber to your channel for years. I missed the review of the Franck Ackermann knife you posted 2 months ago. The last video I saw before that was 6 months ago. I live in the U.S. so I don't know if there is content I miss or not, but no matter, I really enjoy your videos and reviews. Whether you post once every day, week, month or year, I appreciate the time and effort you put into the videos to ensure their quality. Thanks again.
A very beautiful knife. I’m passing through Paris next month enroute to Strasbourg, and plan to find a decent french knife shop to buy something classically French.
@@StefanSchmalhaus i love all knives Stefan and own all types one of my favorite knives non automatic is my Franz Josef frenzel small pocket knife and I believe it to be extremely rare
Great content artfully and beautifully presented as always. Any knife maker would be privileged to have their handiwork presented in one of your videos. Almost a “chicken or the egg” scenario between the knife and your video artistry presenting it.
Beautiful video about a beautiful knife. Love the historical context in all your presentations. Have you done a video about that gorgeous corkscrew? I’d love to know more about it.
Hola Stefan.
God damn, I love your videos Stefan! Always top notch. The B-roll always makes me want to whip up some charcuterie. How’d you learn how to edit video so well? Also, love your taste in music!
Thank you for your very kind words! I'm self-taught in video editing. A few years ago I unsubscribed from all knife channels and instead subscribed to channels with Premiere Pro and After Effects tutorials.
Stefan Schmalhaus I remember early in your RU-vid career, you used to be into EDC knives and some more tactical type of knives. Then you had a brief stint reviewing American traditional knives - I loved the historical context you provided with each one. What made you decide to collect traditional European knives only? Do you hang on to all of the gear you review? A collection update would be an awesome video to see!
@@SoupyTurtle Admittedly, I mainly reviewed French knives recently. I'm still a big fan of traditional American pocketknives though. I think I've covered the most important American knife patterns. I've sold some of my early knives (mainly Spyderco and Böker). As for a collection update, I'm afraid this is not going to happen any time soon. I'd rather put my efforts into videos about new knives.
Stefan Schmalhaus. The video after the English Garden theme could be some prosciutto, fresh cheese, bread sticks and espresso. I might be watching mostly for the food :)
Another good review and thank you. I do have a question about steel grade - any idea why such grade which actually stop me from purchase? Why not at least RWL34? Just curious and if you help as you are the professional. Thanks a lot
