Wow! I don't know which is more beautiful- the knife or your video about it! Both expertly crafted by masters. Your work is on an entirely different and higher level- thank you for sharing it with us.
Stefan, the history of Calais (including pictures), the inside look into the knife making process, and the wonderful editing means this video was over the top! I love knives that tell a story also and I appreciate that you can bring that story to life. p.s. I found you on Facebook too. -Daniel
Another wonderful presentation. Stefan, you are still the only knife reviewer I'm aware of who pours wine as part of their testing process. Don't ever change! This knife is very much to my taste, I love the understated black and silver, the clean blade, the tangible sense of history and place. Truly a classic already.
Este video es hermoso, las tomas increíbles. De la navaja sólo puedo decir que es muy elegante y muy bien hecha, adoro estas navajas europeas. Saludos.
An official knife for every town - I can see that happening here in knife-phobic England! Just goes to show what a difference a 20-mile sea channel makes... But Le Calaisien - I can't say I like it, but your presentation is excellent as always.
Moin Stefan! Thanks for the cinematic introduction to the Calaisien. I’m not sure about whether I like the knife more than your extremely developed video making skills! Kind regards, Claus
I must say that I adore the blade shape of Le Calaisien, even if the handles are not my favourite. Good to see France adopting 14c28n as their higher end cutlery steel. And you always make me hungry by the end of the video. Thank you Stefan.
I'm humbled watching this outstanding review of you Stefan. This shows again, you are light years far away from any other knife reviewer within our great community. Thank you very much for the effort you take to produce this great material, much appreciated.
As always, this was an outstanding production. Seamless editing and eye catching content bring out the best in the storytelling. Thank you for this look at a unique knife. I know I will never own a Calaisien, but it is gratifying to know they are out there representing the French knifemaking tradition. Again, thanks, Stefan!
Ein wirklich sehr schönes Messer.Ihre Erklärung und die Informationen die Sie dazu liefern suchen Ihresgleichen.Ich Danke ihnen für diese Wunderbare Vorstellung.Lg aus Bochum

Beautiful knife, certainly, and a worthy gentleman’s blade. Reminded me a little of the Ponson I have, with its tapering handle. A slim handle is elegant but for me always feels a bit slight in the hand and not a proper working knife. In fact, there are knives I use for eating and picnics (mostly French) and the others that are more utilitarian and workmanlike ( like EKA and Cudeman). The Calaisien would certainly be in the right place next to the Chambriard Thiers and it has a more upswept and energetic look compared to the Ponson. A step above in design. But sometimes you just want a knife that is ready to be your companion through thick and thin. And I wouldn’t choose Le Calaisien for that.
