Man I loved this song back when. The year my little girl was born. I needed a miracle and I got one. To this day she's the only one who ever understood me or laughed at my stupid jokes. She truly is a miracle. Great song.
At the time of this song my family members and my lovely nieces visit owr family home at Easter time in Tilehurst in Reading in 1996 wish I look back with fondness and joy. The song reminds of my nieces at Easter time in 1996. I got a tattoo in Yeovil before Easter time in 1996 wish I still got today.
Reminds me of a time when both my parents were alive - sat in my room listening to this on radio whilst playing on my computer in the 80s … such great times … :-)
Mike & The Mechanics is an ode to the 80's and the great GREAT music produced back then. It's safe to say no other era stands out more than the 80's in terms of great music and I for one am happy to have grown up in that time. Thumbs up if you're with me.
@@Mikey1962 - Really? I agree that the 70's had a few decent bands and songs, but the 60's was just awesome. The 70's was a sort of rest break from the 60's, followed by the music explosion of the 80's. Nothing has come close to the 80's since.
@@CreekyGuy Funniest statement ive ever read " the 70's had a few decent bands and songs" Only a few ? lol. The 80's was full of one hit wonders to be sure.
I absolutely love these songs especially “In the living Years “ I’ve forgiven my father and told him “ I love you Dad” when he was alive- I could hear him welling up on the phone, He actually told me He loved me a couple of time over the phone with me in Australia and my Dad in the Uk - We never got to see each other again as he passed away at our family home in England by himself I did go back for my Dads funeral, so glad I did 🌹❤️
How'ya Dennis Same here, first heard this song in January 89' lying under a car repairing it in a railway arch garage in Highgate London, and cried my eyes out, Had left home just a few weeks before in not great terms with my old man, probably something to do with my being a typical 21 Yr old, But thanks be to Christ we made up over the years and I got to be with him in the weeks before he died in 2016 (looking after him in the nights and chatting, laughing and spoon feeding him) and just made it in the door of my home house just a few minutes before he died and sent him on his way, I always know how privileged I was to be able to do it, Top Class & Timeless Band saw Paul Carrack in November 2019 in Dublin, floored me Take care Dennis Happy New Year Jack Vaughan Tipperary Ireland
That one cuts my heart! My Dad passed in 1993, and when I hear it, tears still spring to my eyes. Even though we often told each other that we loved one another, that song packs an emotional punch! ❤
I remember this song as a child & loved it! I had NO IDEA that Mike was THE MIKE from Genesis, though! I guess I was too young... I think I was around age 6! But, I loved the song.
I said go if you want to go Stay if you want to stay I didn't care if you hung around me I didn't care if you went away And I know you were never right I'll admit I was never wrong I could never make up my mind I made it up as I went along And though I treated you like a child I'm gonna miss you for the rest of my life All I need is a miracle, all I need is you All I need is a miracle, all I need is you All I need is a miracle, all I need is you I never had any time And I never had any call But I went out of my way just to hurt you The one I shouldn't hurt at all I thought I was being cool Yeah, I thought I was being strong But it's always the same old story You never know what you've got 'til it's gone If I ever catch up with you I'm gonna love you for the rest of your life All I need is a miracle, all I need is you (All I need is a miracle) all I need is a miracle, all I need is you (All I need is a miracle) all I need is a miracle, all I need is you And if I ever catch up with you I'm gonna love you for the rest of your life All I need is a miracle, all I need is you (All I need is a miracle) all I need is a miracle, all I need is you (All I need is a miracle) all I need is a miracle, all I need is you (All I need is a miracle) all I need is a, all I need is a (All I need is a miracle) all I need is you (All I need is a miracle) all I need is you (all I need is a miracle) (All I need is a miracle, all I need is a miracle (All I need is a miracle) all I need is a miracle (All I need is a miracle)
I started DJ'ing (always as a side hustle) aged 24 in Southern England in 1977 thru til 1994 in New Zealand. Mike and the Mechanics are a big part of my 7 and 12 inch vinyl collection...
@perrandy2011 He certainly was. I really wish I could sing like he did. Some hopes. He was also an infinitely better singer than his much more famous namesake.
Cannot believe I never knew this song existed until the ending credits of SPENCER. What a great song! I’m going to blame this solely on me being American for not hearing this beforehand.
Right, Paul Young's voice was such an iconic one. The recent years, everytime my aunt listens to her favourite musician "Joe Bonamassa" it always reminds me of Paul Young every now and then.
I really like this band. They are awesome still to this day. And this song speaks to me about some guys who lost me and wish they had treated me better than they did. You never know what you have until it's gone.
Paul Young, one of many under rated singers, loved his vocals from Sad Cafe to this....he could carry a tune in a paper bag, and write a mean lyric...sadly missed, only saw him perform live once :( Legend.
I loved Mike & The Mechanics....especially this and The Living Years....I think of my dad & still cry and the words ‘I wasn’t there that morning when my father passed away’ because I wasn’t.....The police knocked on my door at 1130 pm ,my wife and I had been out and we’d said ‘we must invite my mum and my dad out real soon....but he’d passed away earlier that evening....No mobiles in those days.....thanks guys for your great music...
This was the best part of Spencer. I thought people forgot Mike and the Mechanics. Which is weird how much I hear Eighties music. I liked this before I knew it was cool to like Eighties music.
But he then begs for her back after that "if i ever catch up with you, Im gonna love you for the rest of your life... all i need is a miracle, all I need is you."
Mike , this Song is a Miracle , what would we do without the Mechanics Mike ? Just Imagine , all we need is Love forever, stronger , better. And Trust because it's like a Bank in Heaven ! 🕊
Love the video. The cherubs awesomely and sweetly enhance and express the lyrics. Paul Young, masterful, and band exquisitely showcase one well produced catchy gem of a song.

Me too! Grew up w/ the seventies but loved some of the sixties & still listen 2 them as well. Some 80’s & nineties. Found other styles as well. Yanni, country. I enjoy many styles fortunately. Always liked ELVIS.
