He's a serious inspiration for me now. The fact that he can take all of that ego and rage and pain and MANAGE it is beyond impressive. There are no words. All respect to the king.
@@coleriley5776 Definitely not all of us overcome that. Look at all the hateful angry sad people in the world. We have a LOT of work to do, but we can do it, and Mike Tyson is living proof.
@@adeimantus7226 Your comment doesn't make any sense, but I'll assume you mean weed is as bad as cocaine... Apparently you need to experience life more, and stop buying into 1930s propaganda.
@@erko78 wide set shoulder, thicc butt, stockier legs, powerful traps/neck for bridges. But this is just a body type that many Olympic grecoxRoman/freestyle wrestlers have. Lots of world class ground guys are built totally different than that.
Well at some point Mike realized theres more money in being a pop culture icon, a true survivor from the 1980's, better to be a living legend than a dead warrior
Had that happened and Mike remained undefeated and didn’t go down the path he did millions of ppl wouldn’t be learning anything. This was the path Mike was meant to go down to teach lessons to ppl. It’s up to you though if you want to educate yourself and learn.
After watching documentaries on Tyson, looks like Cus gave him a purpose. He was a nobody and believed he's always be a nobody, then someone took him in and told him he could be great. When he died, the ego set in and he got lost in it. I think he's always wanted to be a good guy, but everyone else's expectations of him, plus all the times he was fucked over turned him into someone he wasn't. Amazing to see his perspective about everything now.
If you were in a comma for the last 30+ years and you met this man. You would never have believed he was a beast in the ring. The young Mike Tyson was full of rage. The older Mike Tyson is a wiser more lovable person.
Great clip Tyson has come a long way but i am glad to see him touring he is intelligent ..he is a real speaker.talks from the heart..thanks joe love your show...
When Tyson says “You didn’t miss out on nothing man” about cocaine, I’m pretty sure there isn’t a former user, including myself, who wouldn’t say the exact same thing.
I remember watching Tyson and Ronda Rousey in an interview together in 2014. They were asked whether or not they were scared before their fights. Tyson said he was scared before every single fight. Rhonda said she was never scared and that she doesn't know fear. We see how both of their careers turned out
... Is quite unambiguous. Rhonda rousey's mma career ended terribly, getting mauled by her last two opponents. Mike tyson maintained a career that lasted 2 decades. Of course, they're different sports but still, rouseys career definitely ended prematurely. She still has a lot going for her tho. Lol not tryna hate akhi. Salaam
And that's exactly what Mike means about how destructive ego can be. People delude themselves and lie to themselves and project some ideal of how they should be or should act so much that it becomes a detriment to their minds and lives. Ego and confidence doesn't do anything. Effort and competence do things. I appreciate Mike's honesty. He exposes the psyche behind this modern day issue we have with insecurities. There's nothing wrong with being scared. It's useful to be scared, it's a biological survival mechanism. But once you lie to yourself and suppress the truth of how you feel, then your mindset starts to go.
You can see the rush of emotions as soon as Joe mentions Coke to Mike. Mike's self control for not even talking about it in a positive manner even though you can see for a split second he wanted to; hes got himself off that shit. But you can never take the coke head out of you. Huge respect
@@bellzo5 it’s just I was scrolling to see if most people caught on. And most people in this comment section are in aw of Mike. Not realising what he said could be the key to why many other great athletes may also be so good. That many of them are programmed assets and what else they may be capable of. Like this segment should have millions of millions of views but it’s hidden in this interview
@t-god2439 because for one people worship these folks so when a person who was trouble says things. You take it as he is all knowing. Not knowing that his been condition to speak a certain way. And two people don't know what programing is unless it's a computer. They don't it's real and would say why would they do that to celebrities and athletes that makes no sense.
love you Mike- we met in Scottsdale Mall one week before your bust and we went out together to downtown. I paid my own tab but I knew you were struggling. I don't expect you to remember, but I never asked for anything from you and I always wondered if I could have done more at that time.. but I was so young I couldn't tell you anything
Real and respectful talk here from the heart....Mike tyson is one of my heroes in life.....the man has overcame so much...in my life and mind iv struggled on a small scale next to him inso hearing him speak inspires me....thank you Mike!
Defintiely not Cus hated government and stuff like that, you should read iron ambition it gives a better insight to who cus was. I think mike said in the book Cus was always at a state of a war in his mind he thought people were always after him. Cus was a fighter and also ex military and his family were very tough and experience a lot of racism for being italian immigrants. You should check out the book
METalGod66 true. He (Cus) grew up around a lot of mobster/gangsters. Shit, his gym was across the street from the “ Murder Inc” crime family spot! That alone, probably brought along a warrior/paranoia like mentality...
I used to think it was all the hits to the dome Mike took was what mainly attributed to the way he is today. "My mom gave me weed and alcohol as a kit to try to make ge sleep" Joe- "whens the first time you did coke?" Mike "maaannn... i phink i wath like twelth yearths old" All jokes aside, Mike Tyson would still wreck me on his worst day when he was a coked up twelve year old. Mad respect for this man to have accomplished all that he has.
@@Jc-si6pj yeahhh. Because corny jokes are definitely the deciding factor. Never claimed to be funny. Hope you're commenting on my corny jokes make yah feel better about yourself. Superficial people need that kind of reinforcement.

you were and are my favorite boxer ever iv see all of ur fights. EVERYone had done stupid shit in their life .you've changed so much I'm proud to call myself ur biggest and grateful fan
I watch this channel more so than any other channel. It gives you an opportunity to meet and listen and watch and get an insight into people who you would never get the chance to see open up on a usual televised talk show. Joe puts these fellows and sometimes lassies at ease so that they naturally answer questions, if they dont open up to Joe then they are not going to open up anywhere apart from their home. All the best from lancashire U.K
