One of if not his first one was on Tyson WR which he has and I think he had at the time. He has a lot and it surprises how little he mentions himself in the MTPO docs he does. He's probably the best MTPO speedrunner in the world.
Yeah there are people are good enough to feasibly challenge some of his records, but it's a longshot rn and you'd be talking about an already great runner putting in a serious grind to even have a chance. Outside of some challenges I've seen that I'm not sure Salt's tried, I'm not sure he's been close to topped in half a decade. If we're talking explicitly MTPO as opposed to punch out as a whole, I don't think it would be a stretch to call Salt the goat, hands down.
Maintaining his status as the absolute king of Mike Tysons punch out. crazy that RTA is considered a meme category I hope one day we see you on "Hotboxin' With Mike Tyson" his podcast
@@ayodosunmustan9199 real time attack. It means using a live, continuous timer instead of just using the in game timer, which pauses at multiple points throughout the run (someone please correct me if im wrong)
This is actually tied with a TAS. This is the best run you can get so far, it is genuinely impossible to get lower than this. He's sealed his WR forever
Question Why do you wait before hippo? My guess is so you can press select, which somehow saves time in the following fight. Ive seen other runners do this, so im assuming its not just forgetting to press start. Is there a strat to waiting before hippo?
By waiting for an 8 frame window window that loops every 4 seconds, pushing start within it, and performing certain other actions, I can manipulate Hippo’s pattern to be the same every time.
That was *SICK*, yo! :) Well done. And man, ya can't beat that awesome RNG in the few areas where it was all about if and when the fighters "rise on 3" or whatever. :D GO LIL' BIG MAC!
GG ! I would like to know if you play this on a real NES, or an emulator ? and if you play on an emulator, do you use something like an 8bitDo controller ?
How many people run RTA? I’ve only seen it run RTA in marathons and relays (it was such a fun finale to the Turkathlon relay). I find it fun to watch, but it is probably too early in the game’s history for it to graduate from meme run status.
RTA just has so many uncontrollable aspects, like how long a fighter stays down, how many 'sit-ups', etc. that it's just not a category you have any real control over. That's why it isn't run seriously.
Single Segment uses the in-game timer (each in-game second is 20 frames or 1/3 of a real second) and adds up all of the 14 times you see at the end of each fight. RTA uses a Real-Time timer that runs continuously from the moment you start the Glass Joe fight to when the screen fades to black after beating Tyson. Other than that, the rules are about the same, with the only differences in gameplay being that some strategies are faster in real-time, but slower for Single Segment (Example: Skipping the 1:59 knockdown from Mr Sandman is faster for RTA)
Mr Sandman is one. Single Segment has you intentionally get knocked down at 1:59 to get his second Dreamland Express and knock him down, done by lowering your health at the start, taking damage to lower it further at specific points, then taking the last hit at the start of Phase 3. In RTA, you skip all of that
There is major RNG that can affect how long a potential KO is. The timer is better used and much more consistent based off the time at the end of a match.
The in game timer doesn't count the 10 counts when you knock someone down. As there's considerable randomness on when someone gets up (Or has a fake get up which stops the 10 count as well) it's considered purer to use the in-game timer. Even with all the skill in the world RTA (Real Time Attack) on this game has a lot of RNG bullshit.
Ultimately the things the other commenters mentioned have enough variation across the game that there are some strategy differences on occasion because they're faster on *only* RTA or IGT runs. Edit: I really don't know just how much this comes into play but do note that a few relatively weak IGT times are acceptable here. Salt even mentions basically this concept with Soda.
