Fun Fact: When Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! first came out for the NES, Mike Tyson was asked if he was able to beat himself in the game. He responded that he couldn't even get past Glass Joe. So remember, whenever you laugh at Joe's 1-99 record, the one person Glass Joe beat was Mike Fucking Tyson
Paul Girdlestone I've been playing through Punch Out and right now I'm barely at Bald Bull. I used the code to get a little taste of Mike Tyson and Tyson lasted longer against Tyson than I did but that ain't no surprise
I didn't know he didn't play his own game back in the '80s. Sometimes celebrities get involve in the creation of games that uses their names and likeness.
The key to beating Tyson in the game is surviving the first 90 seconds of the fight. Every uppercut that he throws in that time frame will be an immediate knockdown. Afterwards, his punches will still hurt but they won't instantly knock you down. He will wink before he punches.
Oh stfu, we learned that the hard way in the early 90s or whenever this game came out!!!! You try to brawl toe to toe with Tyson and your dead meat!! You dodge him , now we have a fight!!!!!! Tyson kicked my AZZ for a month before I figured it out!!!! I think!🤔
Up, Down, A, A, B, Left, Right, A, B, Up, A, Down, Right, Right, Left, B, Up, Left, A, Right, B, Left, Right, A, Left, Up, A, Down, A, Right, Left, B and Start
+Dobre Narcis - Florin Okay. Was there a reason at all to say "No shit, Sherlock"? Its kind of ironic that people use that to insinuate that people are dumb, but Sherlock is smarter than those who use his name as an insult.
Nah mike tyson should have dodged tyson but tyson did a tyson and hit tyson but then tyson hit em with a punch so then tyson hit tyson and pulled through
Of course it matters! He only uses one-punch KO's during the first two minutes of the fight. Then he starts jabbing with less power the rest of the round. In the second and third round the upercuts are weaker and only drain half the stamina.
He didnt even make it to the part where Mike Tyson throws weaker punches though. Besides, even if he survided to the third round, it would have been up to decision, he wouldn't have enough points to beat himself. Any way you put it, he would have lost.
PrimapePlays You can beat Tyson without throwing a single punch in the first round. Just give him a beating in the 2nd so that he ends the round very low on stamina. That gives you plenty of time to knock him out with a TKO in the third.
We're Talking about Mike Tyson, not someone who has been practicing for a month. You said in your original comment that it wasn't fair that he had lower health, but you can see in the video that he got TKO'd before Mike even stopped throwing the knockout punches. The change was miniscule and most likely accidental, and didn't effect the fight.
who do these young kids think they are? our generation with Nintendo Entertainment Systems were the greatest generation of gamers ever to be born. we lived in a world where you couldn't save any game progress. and if he wanted to do a multi player you had to go to your friends house and meet that person face to face, not just talk smack from the comfort of your living room. and if you loss you took that beating like a man. you went home, contemplating on what you would do next time you were over at your friends house. I was dying from laughing when I watched this last night. all those years of getting beaten by Mike Tyson in that game, and finally Iron Mike beats up Iron Mike. Thank you Jimmy
Beating Mike Tyson was one of the great moments of my life as a kid. I beat him twice-once where I learned a code to skip to Tyson and once where I went all they through all the fighters and beat him him.
In an interview prior to this appearance, Mike was asked about Punch Out, and he openly said (completely seriously) that he couldn't even beat Glass Joe (the very first boxer). Look at Glass Joe's record: 1-99. Yes, one win. Now that Mike's admitted it, we know the person who lost to Glass Joe was none other than Iron Mike himself =P
+ZhangtheGreat You can find the video of him losing to Glass Joe on Fox Sports channel. It's one of the top search results on RU-vid for "mike tyson plays punchout."
You're not serious are you? Mike Tyson was a PROFESSIONAL fighter and Heavyweight Champ of the world. You think he gave a fug about kiddie games back then? Lol He wanted punanny, punanny & more punanny. The end. He didnt begin to turn his life around until much later.
i looked at the comments first and i saw this. i was like "wow did he really beat this game?". And as I was watching him play it i realized the joke :))))))))
southsidesman Spending your life as a whatever zombie is bad, but video games are a good thing, believe me. They helped me in my life. Just don't overdo it and acknowledge there's a world out there. As to evil people who run this world, they have other interests than you playing video games. Most likely that you work like a slave and die in their wars.
Someone hit the select button before the first round begins. Doc Louis is moving his hand faster. 1:22 As a result Little Mac's energy bar level power decreased 2:07 ...
Doesn’t that trick actually replenished your health in between rounds? Or is it that only when done before a match starts (as opposed as between Rounds 1-2 and Round 2-3) actually does the opposite and lowers it?
If they made games today as hard as this one, kids would destroy their equipment, room and everything in pure anger because they kept loosing all the time. In the 80`s the kids fighted on until they mastered the game.
odisy64 Pattern recognition IS .a skill hell even with games today people learn how the A.I. will behave and learn strategies to beat it easily. There is a video "Teens react to Punch Out" and they lose to Glass Freaking Joe. Yeah the kid talked about Call of Duty but lost to the first guy who amounts to little more than a tutorial on the mechanics of the game.
Mike Tyson is surprisingly *very* self conscious. You can always see him in interviews trying to process stuff and figure out if someone is talking down to him or being derogatory in any way. I guess when you're in the media spotlight as much as he has been this may come with the territory..
I had this game as a kid. I could get through all the levels to get to the dream match against Mike Tyson; but I could never beat him. His punches were set so hard that if you slightly mistimed one dodge or block, one Tyson punch knocked you down. You'd lose a lot of energy when you got up; and were vulnerable to be KO'd. I must have tried at least 25 or 30 times but got KO'd each time!
Wait a minute....Mike tyson just beat.....Mike tyson...Isnt that how the world en......................................................................................................
@@Anakunus 🤣😭😂😭🤣 Right!!!! I use to always say that the only person that could actually beat Mike Tyson in his prime was Mike Tyson and interesting enough that day finally happened.🤣🤣🤣
I want to see Mike Tyson play God Hand. He can taunt back at the mooks all day. "I'm Alexander the Great!" "You're not Alexander!" "My style is impetuous!" "My defenses are impregnable!"
beat him once in game, took countless times. by far still most difficult boss in any game, so made it memorable to beat him lol. my grandfathers favorite fighter of all time, iron mike.
Nowadays celebrities are appearing in like every video game but Mike tyson’s punchout was the first game to star a celebrity and Nintendo’s only one to do so
He did himself dirty. If you push Select before the fight starts you lower your own health. Don’t know if it was done to fuck up with players’ who like to button mash without rhyme or reason (like Mike here) or to give the option to give yourself a handicap to make the game tougher for you. Thing is, Mike lowered his health himself, not the show runners. But it doesn’t matter anyway because during the first 90 seconds of Round 1 every single punch that Mike throws at you is an instant KO.
Manuel Salokangas more like the first half of R1. After second 91 he changes his moves and stop insta-KOing. Still hits you like a bag of bricks, though.
You actually broke controllers? That's impressive. I remember spiking controllers and mine never broke. But I was throwing them down into the carpet. Nevertheless, those things were tough.
princesskiki00 Kk, over fighting Nintendo fighters that include two non-Nintendo fighters :P And even I've been stupid in regards to flying off the edge as Little Mac when I tried learning to use him (even got the FAILURE music as I did it :P)
Mike Tyson himself is the only person who can play this game and win either way against fighting himself in the game. And Catskill is where he was training by Cus D'mato, he's from Brooklyn originally.
I tried fighting Mike Tyson earlier today, and he is hard as hell. You really have to dodge his attacks at _JUST_ the right moment, otherwise he knocks you out. It does get easier when the clock is at 1:30, at which point Mike Tyson will simply start dealing a bunch of jabs that deal major damage instead of instantly knocking you out, but it is still super-hard.
