The MOST shocking part is that some interior designer actually got paid for that work!!!! The second thing that is sad--why is it abandoned? A place that big, out in the country, would be a good donation for a rehab center for teens or another charity.
Man this creeps me out big time. Just to think that at one time this place was probably teaming with life pussy drugs and music and now it stands empty and abandoned. CREEPY STUFF 😨
This reminds of how easily material things come and go. One day everything will look like this house. I'm so proud of Iron Mike for finding his spirit. His serenity and wisdom are worth one thousand of these houses!
Don got "chump change" compared to the TV networkes and venues where they fought! Also before Don King there were no Millionaire Boxers! Do your research.
This is an awesome video! This is definitely a 1980's mansion as you can tell by the decor. I'm not to crazy on the zebra pattern carpets but there's a lot about this place that I like.
He doesnt own the place it was sold to Paul Monea about 99-2000 which was purchased with stolen money. The feds then took down Monea for money fraud and the house sat untouched. As of this current moment recent reports say the house has been resold and is currently undergoing renovations INCLUDING NEW POOL WATER ;)
Indeed. the structure itself was in good shape when it got sold (I believe a real estate investor for out of state brought it). Must been a near mortage payment to heat place in the winter months.
There’s actually a fairly fascinating backstory to this dilapidated mansion, which hasn’t even belonged to Tyson since the late nineties (hence the decor straight out of a Scorsese mob movie). More recently, it belonged to a businessman named Paul Monea, who got rich hawking TaeBo workout tapes with Billy Blanks. He used some of that TaeBo money to buy Tyson’s old Ohio mansion for $1.3 million. Then things went bad for Monea. You see one of Paul’s prize possessions was this gigantic, 40-carat diamond. Eventually, Paul decided he wanted to sell both the diamond and the house. He was approached by a buyer who was very interested in both, and who had the money to do something about it, but he told Paul his money was drug money. Paul basically said to the guy, “I don’t want to know where you got your money, and what do I care if it’s drug money?” They go ahead and make the deal. Well, almost. Turns out the man was actually an FBI agent doing what I, as a non-lawyer, believe is a textbook example of entrapment. Paul went to jail, his assets were seized, and now this mansion stands lonely and empty, seemingly haunted by the ghosts of parties past.
@@fraudsarentfriends4717 what the other guy said, because it's cool. Also, it makes it more of a landmark and identifies its history. I believe even the church that is there left Mike Tyson's name on the gate
@@robloxvids2233 Many wealthy people that can afford such a place don't really think Mike Tyson is cool. Not everyone is a boxing fan. It's just tacky looking to them.
Samantha Furch no it is the nostalgic of that era. I was in my 20’s but I would actually ask Mr Tyson if he would help with telling what is missing or how it was.
Mike Tyson - consuming wealth upon himself. What is wealth unless it is shared with graciousness, kindness and humility? Wealth is a good thing in the right hands and a dangerous or foolish weapon in the wrong hands.
Mike Tyson probably had people telling him to "buy this" and "buy that" just so they could take him for his last penny. I think wealth should be put to use. Wealth not used is wasted just as surely as if you threw it at the sky.
I am not sure if just anyone can walk in this house or if it has to be setup with some type of agency but there is a lot of expensive stuff that can be tore up and resold. The Marble is one of them....
I have trouble believing the pool isn't more evaporated than it is--even so, a large surface of water like that, unless managed, can wreak havoc on the structure of the building--it'd always be humid and musty. Indoor pools are usually regretted by those who purchase them.
I WAS IN THIS HOME before it went to hell !! It was WAAAAAY back in the 1990s...we heard it was "empty and the prospective buyer wanted us to put a BIG satellite system in it was WIDE open so we toured it...it was AMAZING that someone would ever even build a home THIS big (small by todays ego types) let alone heat cool and maintain it...you needed a bus pass to go from one end to the other LOL...
Had Mike Tyson still been in possession, at the height of his success and invited the commenters below plus four to a party there I wonder how many would have refused? It's funny how things are more attractive when someone's successful.
Strange how parts of it appear to have some vandalism (rubbish chucked in the pool and cupboards emptied out) yet shelves full of video and hi-fi equipment remain untouched!
Eh....why would anyone take an old cassette or laser disc player? It's super outdated so I'm guessing no one would want it. I AM surprised they're not sitting in the bottom of the pool though.
It's a pentacostal church now called Living World Sanctuary. They bought it and the congregation did a lot of their own work to renovate it. It took them over four years to complete. The pool is now where they have their services. I'm guessing the minister (or whatever pentacostals called their leader), lives there. The tiger cages are now a pavillion. The only thing remaining of Mike Tyson's that is still fully original, is the basketball court. No one has messed with that since Tyson owned it. Well, at least the building still survives. Glad to know that it wasn't simply bulldozed
Well it’s a neat and clean I would imagine someone is taking care of it since it’s been abandoned for 11 years it doesn’t look bad for being abandoned somebody’s taking care of it.
When I Was In High School He lived Right Down the Back Roads in A Town Called Bernardsville, Nj So 1986- 88 ish ..We would leave on our free periods and take the way back roads so we could smoke pot..shh. We would always drive by his house..one time he was standing right there near the Road as we passed and gave us a huge wave as Smoke was coming out of our windows. Then Much later in the late 90s he just by chance Bought My Grandfathers House In Potomac Maryland on Congressional Golf Course. Guy is The best that Ever Lived. Like Him or Not
Interesting. Tyson was at the height of his fame and fortune when he lived here back in the 80's and early 90's. Looking at the location money can buy you much more. The house is like a playhouse. Don't know how far from civilization it is but the size is something to marvel at. It might had been the place where the infamous Barbara Walters interview happen back in the 80's.
caroline clare Its gonna take the cops a bit to get there ill tell you what I told the last person who threatened to call the cops on me cops are gonna take a few I'm here now
If I were to restore it, the first thing I'd do is rip out that ridiculous zebra carpet. Otherwise, that's a beautiful house, and not in real bad shape. The pool either needs some serious work, or filled in and the room turned into an entertainment/ballroom, but otherwise, I don't see a lot of work to be done. Someone should do so, before it does become a total wreck.
Ha! Willie, I'd have to win the lottery to restore it. Not that I wouldn't love to, but I suspect just the carpet alone would be out of my budget. I'm just fantasizing. :)
Hard to believe that the mansion have been abandoned and unoccupied for so many years. You would think they would have at least drained the pool(s) instead letting it sit all these years looking like a giant swamp lake. I'm surprise no one took an interest in the place. It looks like it could be a good investment.
Crazy that i stumbled on this video. I lived much of my life in Salem, OH which is down the road from this mansion. We were always told it was Mike Tysons Mansion but i never really believed it. It was a beautiful house in a not so upscale place. I know why he never spent time there-there wasnt anything to do around there. It is the armpit of Ohio!
Tyson sold it many years ago. The buyer got into legal trouble and all of his assets (including the mansion) wear sized. It pretty much sat in limbo for many years; meanwhile getting damage done to it (chairs in the pool, broken glass) Finally, it fell into someones hands and they wear able to fix it up (the structure was in pretty good shape) and put it on the market. I believe it has sold. That must be a high heating bill come winter months.
Why did he build this mansion if he wouldn't live There? Or maybe he wasn't able to pay the mortgage and how to maintain. What happened to his millions or does he has million?
Why is it still abandoned? LOCATION is one reason. The inside looks like it was designed by 'Baby-Doc Duvalier' with all that gawdy 'African' decorating.
There's a guy who couldn't handle success. It happens a lot to pro athletes. They spend their whole young lives preparing to be a success in their sport, and have no idea how to deal with the tiger once they really catch it. some figure it out before it's too late, but sadly and all too often, many if not most, do not. There are far too many, rags to riches, to rags stories throughout professional sports. In the end he became the person he should have been at the height of his career. The peak earning years are extremely short in most pro sports, and you only get one chance to get your finances and personal life together within that short span of time. Regret reigns supreme among these folks, but most will never say that in public. They will say, that getting it right under the circumstances of that time and place in their lives, is much like getting lucky enough to catch lightening in a bottle.
62636263c Apparently you don't understand what happened with this piece of property, or how Mike Tyson had the foresight to have someone help him with his finances. Mike Tyson was not the last owner of this property and did not let it go un-kept and fall into disrepair.
Jeremiah Mckenna I'm pretty certain of that. Just stating how these things go as far as pro athletes are concerned. Not really focusing on the house per say. When it comes to properties, many went vacant from 2008 thru 2012 for many reasons.
62636263c look a shaq all his houses are nice... this one was just sold... but it was bought with fraudulent money and so it went to the feds for a while.. now its under new owners im pretty sure.
+62636263c Roughly 75% of pro athletes go broke at some point after their careers are over. It's gotten so bad that even the NFL makes rookies attend a sort of course finances, living well within your means, and figuring out what you want to do after football. Part of it's that these guys think all of that money is going to last forever even though most pro sports careers only last a few years. Part of it's animal instinct in that the more money one has, the more money they spend.
The fact that one person got to live in such a large and luxurious place while many have no place at all to call home speaks volumes about what is wrong with us.
So should the government have pried the money from Tyson's hands and forced him to build barracks for the poor on his land instead of his own home? Seriously?
CrisVangel1958 The many many people it took to build this and the many many people that manufactured the materials were glad to have work so they could feed their families! JS
CrisVangel1958 tyson grew up in a foster home and he worked his ass off to live like that. He knew what it was like to have nothing at all. He deserved to have this house and alot 3 more just like it.
This place is in Southington, Ohio. It was sold at a sheriffs auction for 600,000. It is being renovated into a place of worship, for Sunday school and what not.
Every smartass comment on here is made by someone too stupid to do a simple search and see that Mike Tyson sold this house to a criminal. The story continues, but as human beings it would not hurt any of us to have the decency to simply enjoy the video for what it is and as everyone here as likely heard, if you can't say something nice, don't say anything.
Oh thank you Almighty moral compass! Did you ever think that when people makes fun of someone like Mike Tyson, maybe Mike Tyson brought it upon himself? I mean it's not like Mike Tyson is going to be bullied, right? Save your high-and-mighty bullshit for a video worthwhile of your wise commentary.
