Abundant Blessings, CTE awareness is vital. My brother collapsed while playing in a high school football game. Ramon, is a second impact syndrome survivor.

Imagine a soldier. He knows he might get hurt or injured. NFL players only know they might get a broken arm or leg. They aren’t aware of CTE thanks to the NFL not stating that CTE is a problem

Another player i recall who also had CTE was Shane Dronett of the Atlanta Falcons. Almost ten years to the day after he went to the Super Bowl with the Falcons and several years after retiring from the game he killed himself.

Jim O'Connor its so much deeper than that... You think these guys want to get beat up and have headaches every day? They do it because of the money involved. They are only willing to play this sport because it is how they support their family. I believe that the NFL will only have lower-class people playing in it in the next 20 years because all of the middle/upper class people will realize the risk and reward behind it and not play it. Where as the lower class will still risk their safety because it's worth it to escape poverty for them.

Thank God! I stopped playing football in 9th grade. Only played tackle football in 8th and 9th grade that’s it. I know I don’t have CTE. NFL players know what they are signing up for. They get paid a lot of money in the NFL. CTE is a scary disease.

Altogether, makes wonder what effects the brain has gone through while playing 30 years of football? From Pop Warner, junior high, high school, college, and then the pros until that person decides to hang it up.

I have never been a huge fan of football but I liked it, even played it as a kid with friends. After seeing the movie Concussion with Will Smith I realized I could never support football again. Personally seeing the harsh realities has sucked all the joy out of the game for me and all I do if worry for the health of the players. Suffering concussion after concussion. Is it really worth it? For me, no. It’s Super Bowl Sunday today and a lot of my friends and family are all going nuts over it but I just can’t have the same joy that I used to watching it so personally I don’t. That’s just my opinion and I don’t expect everyone to feel that way and won’t shame anyone who enjoys football but I definitely think that everyone who loves football should watch that movie and be as informed as possible about the reality of CTE and other serious sports related injuries and issues. This video is very well made and I appreciate seeing someone trying to educate people about this subject. Well done.

@brandonsantos1271
@brandonsantos1271 4 года назад
DION. It’s about the impact in your brain. The faster the the players fly into each other, the harder your brain crashes into your skull. Helmets only protect the skull but not the tissue from bleeding.

Imagine being 18 and realizing you have CTE after playing High School and College football. How bad would that be!? Your life would be ruined. Everything. No turning back. Since the disease cannot be stopped (for now). I feel so bad for those guys. They probably want to kill themselves. 😬Whyyyyyyyyyyyy
@TakeshixStudios
@TakeshixStudios 6 лет назад
Doge One season probably won't do it. It's the people who played and got hit for months and YEARS, not even mentioning to add in the concussions that speed it up. Getting your bell rang isn't always a concussion but the damage adds up. Good thing you stopped!
@TakeshixStudios
@TakeshixStudios 4 года назад
My friend is one of the smartest people I know and played football/did MMA for a few years. He said he had bad memory and slight stuttering issues. Instantly stopped MMA/football and started taking supplements for the brain, got extra sleep, and learned an instrument. He pretty nuch said he felt his memory getting better slowly and has no problems now. There's a difference between substantial brain damage and CTE. While they intersect they don't always correlate. Either way I'm not letting my kids play ball

Can NFL Football actually be made safer? The new rules about hitting and helmet-to-helmet contact are helpful, and one can now see players using their shoulder more in hitting and tackling than even just 3 years ago. But even using the shoulder to hit with is still dangerous. The kinetic energy involved when a 210+ lb. player hits another at high speed is immense as are the G's encountered by the human brain. You can see this when a player hits another and the player who is the victim of the hit entirely changes direction near-instantly. The brain is moving forward and in a split second is moving backward, or to the side. This means that the brain is sloshed violently against the inside of the skull multiple times, thus creating injury. Can NFL Football ever be made safe for the human brain? I don't think so. I love football, but now every Sunday what I see are the hits and possible concussions or mild-traumas. Sad really.
@yarbles67
@yarbles67 7 лет назад
it could - remove the helmet and shoulder pads. but those two pieces of equipment is what gives the NFL it's knightly and gladiator image. I don't know the stats of ruby related head truama vs americal style football but watch any rugby match and you will clearly see minimal head to head trauma. guys in rugby that run the ball don't lead with their heads. guys that tackle them are master of grappling because both release to lead with their heads is bad. any head to head to foul is harsh. players are given 10 minute penalties and your team plays down a man.
@mikew2610
@mikew2610 6 лет назад
If they get rid of helmets yes. Rugby is a violent games but I seriously doubt they deal with CTE issues like football.

Take away pads and stop hits or tackles above the hip. It won’t stop everything but it will limit high speed hits

Unfortunately football like rugby and boxing will never be a safe game as in all of these sports there will be all of these head injuries. The athletes though are getting paid millions and now know what the risks are so in the end it’s up to them if they want to risk it.

Football, particularly at the NFL level, is an insane game meant to be played insanely. You should either be allowed to destroy each other like the game is intended, or you should not play it at all. That's my feeling. These small measures are going to do virtually nothing to protect players, but diminishes the game enormously. Either get ready for CTE, and to live a short life as a god, or don't play football.
@xirocastgaming4809
@xirocastgaming4809 6 лет назад
Locrian Phyrigian The problem is that lots of NFL players weren't notified of the risks of playing the game. And that the NFL was (and still kind of is) against the whole idea of CTE being a thing besides countless studies proving otherwise.
@locrianphyrigian3779
@locrianphyrigian3779 6 лет назад
I agree. I actually prefer MMA now, morally, because I don't think there's the same sort of misinformation (intended or not) that they won't get CTE. I can't stand the "oh it's about player safety while we actually don't protect players" hypocricy of the NFL.
@nineteeneightynine432

I hate this whole CTE myth, saying NFL ruined players lives. Yes it has a cost but that's the toll you take from making millions of dollars. If people are so concerned about violence, what about boxing? what about MMA? or even pro wrestling? Why don't they use headgears let alone ban the sport as well? Sports are supposed to be violent in nature. People talk about Mike Webster and Aron Hernandez but never mention Alan Page who became a jurist. They don't mention Steve Young who enrolled in Law School while having concussion warnings. There's a ton of people who had successful post careers in the headhunting era, but nobody's brave enough to point it out. As a result the league has become a flag football with inflated overachieved QBs and WR divas. We shouldn't only make America great again we should make football great again.
