Kruglov is certainly poised to follow in the footsteps of the great oktavists like Miller, Wishniakov, and Pasjukov. What a wonderful voice and resonance. Just when you thought he couldn't possibly sing lower than that he pulls out some truely astonishing low notes. Also, the fact that these men can sing these notes in full voice, without a microphone, and at a volume level consistent with the rest of the choir puts them on a level that american folk/gospel singers just can't touch!
It's not as much a height thing as it is a neck and chest thing. A long, wide neck provides more room for the vocal cords to grow. Take a guy like me. I'm only 5'8, but I've got an unusually wide and long neck, giving me a rather deeper than average voice. Not an Oktavist or basso profondo voice, but not a tenor, though my comfortable tessitura does include it. Though, to be fair, I'm more of an exception than the rule. Height is not a factor, but an enabler. I'm a bigger guy, to be sure.
its longer thicker vocal chords in men ....usually because they were exposed to more testosterone.....the longer and thicker male chords are the more they will be like this its genetic ...voices sound different country to country ....russians even women have much darker voices ....i dunno if its genetic or because of how they grow up speaking its almost universally true though....

@HMW Actually stereotipes ARE true - a kind of collective "wisdom"... But on a shallow level. They do not satisfy exceptional cases. They are a simplification of real life.

Согласен. Он, кстати на него похож. Но лучше всех Владимир Пасюков. Его голос глубже и нет ни единого намёка на напряжение во время пения. Можно сравнить Это замечательное произведение Чеснокова пели Пасюков, Миллер, Вишняков, Круглов. Очень бесит, когда пишут, что у Пасюкова нижние ноты - штробас. Ересь паршивая. Они потрясающи и полноценны.
I think he's got a while to wait yet, until he gets a bit older. The basic instrument is certainly there, and he is training it, but he is still a bit of a growler in the lowest register, while Miller and Pasyukov have/had the real 'boom'. Give it ten years...age and practice will do it
This guy makes my throat hurt. My range covers the Verdi Baritone and Dramatic Bass-Baritone and on into the bass range. I feel like I sound a sopranist compared to this guy. Seriously, I wish I had a voice like that. We need more Oktavists.
not only is he awesome, but his ear is impeccable. it's hard to be that accurate on notes that are that hard to hit, especially with large interval jumps.
He is doing this in a bit higher key than the average . . . he seems to have the roundness of Miller, but his darker timbre is slightly reminiscent of Pasuikov (as his interpretation of the high point of this piece). Can't wait until his voice ages a little more, and his lower range settles and gains power. It's so nice to know there are more profondos coming to the fore . . .
