@@anthonym6918 it don't always existed, the rule that say the GK must remains on his goal line until the ball have been kicked was introduced in 1929. Dudek and the referee thought it was 1925, it can happens

As long as i can remember this rule about gk leaving the goal line was added years ago, still referees at the time never punished the gks for doing it. For example in 2003 (2 years prior) this rule was warned by fifa, in the Intercontinental cup match between milan boca, both gks took 3 or 4 steps forward every time (dida included). So in resumee, yes it wasnt allowed to step outside the goal line, but at the same time, referees didnt care about and it was only mentioned by the media.

in 2005 the GK should have had both feet on the line. Dudek and the referee played with the rules of 1920 when the GK could approach the ball up to 6 yd until the penalty kick was taken.
