My very first Miles live experience…….and I was hooked ever since. Saw him six times in succession at the NSJF in The Hague, untill he unfortunately passed away in september ‘91. Fortunately, John Scofield is still alive, always go to see him when he is in the Netherlands.

Miles, always image-conscious, has his wireless unit in a stylish leather case. Thanks for the upload. I've always liked Miles percussion-heavy '80's sound. Sco', Berg and Marcus too!

Boy did he have his tone back 2:07 and Miles knew it, because he opens without a mute, very confident. Band is tight like a mother, even though he would soon replace the drummer. Thanks very much for upload. I recall that it was almost painfully loud in the tent -so turn it up as much, as your neighbours allow, to get a sense of how it felt.

I think Vince was his nephew and according Miles he kept dropping the beat so [with the protest from Miles' family] Vincent was let go, Please correct me if I'm wrong
@honeybozo
@honeybozo 3 года назад
@@LOKJazz No correction - unfortunately Vince's drumming was not of the same calibre as Al Foster's or Ricky Wellman's: there's no shame in that as few can drive and lock a band on that level. Miles always had awesome drummers -they were essential to his sound.

And 8 years later , Darryl Jones joined the Stones. Charlie Watts would’ve approved of a bassist who’s played with Miles

Such a disgrace Miles plays with his back to the audience. They have paid big bucks to see this genius perform and not his back. This is a insult to the audience. The audience would might as well have bought a CD!

The mix settles down after a couple of minutes. The video cuts about 6 mins into 'Pacific Express'. According to Jan Lohman the last section of the concert was as follows:- Code M.D. 6.32 Pacific Express (nc) 15.40 Katia 7.17 Hopscotch 7.44 You're Under Arrest 7.10 Medley: Jean Pierre-Under Arrest-Then There Were None 9.34 Encore Decoy 5.51

It's a typical 80s' sound live, I think. Plain, tidy, cool taste of sound , far from his 70s' music. Right or wrong ,Miles has changed.

He,s a brilliant keyboard player,playing some of the best solo,s ever,on theme to jack johnson,On the corner,& agharta,in fact he plays a bit on most his albums.This is 15yrs to late & miles had lost much of his gusto after the 70s,When he played his best stuff in my opinion.
