So scatting is basically soloing with your mouth instead of an instrument 👍

Well, this is not what I thought it was going to be about.

Dizzy Gillespie DID NOT teach Ella how to scat, it was innate in her. You cannot teach that. You can either do it or you can’t. Listen to Ella scatting one note samba with Joe Pass. She wasn’t taught that she could just do it. I like Pattie Austin very much, but she, like a lot of the American jazz singers, think they can all scat better than Ella and I find it embarrassing a lot of the time.
