Only the Brave (Kosinski directed this as well) was just... incredible. Kosinski knows how to tell a story, but that it's based on a true story is just gut-wrenching and heartbreaking. I wouldn't easily watch it again, but nearly every movie Kosinski makes is glorious to look at.

His “service” of making tons of money while playing a character that theoretically would have been in the “service” of being a freaking Jet Pilot of a plane that can go Supersonic and land itself on a black deck of a moving platform thats shorter than a football field on a ship at night with no visible lighting aloud in the middle of an ocean.. The pilot pushes a button, takes his hands off the controls and hopes for the best until in the blink of an eye it slams into the deck and instantly goes from flight speed to full stop. Its pretty hard to get used to that event when on deck.. We all know the rhythm and are aware planes are coming in but, you dont hear or see them coming in until the last second before, then theres a lot of noise and a F18 at full afterburner (incase it misses the wires) 10 feet from where you are. Or, it goes by you at full afterburner and off the other end.. There is no light of any kind allowed from ship or Aircraft while at sea at night. Except the yellow tipped low light of our flashlights used for communicating and directing the aircraft movements on deck. Or, red tipped for emergency purposes, even below decks where any light can be seen at night, which is low light red which is the least noticeable color of the spectrum in the dark. The only other light is from the glow of the flames from the jet exhaust. Im not sure why I went off for a minute but, It was because the F18 is the only plane that can do it on its own, its called ACLS (automatic carrier landing system) and the pilots go through some serious issues mentally sometimes because of it. Imagine training to do it yourself about a thousand times then being instructed to trust the plane to do it for you, to remove your hands and I dont know fold them in your lap while it yaws and rolls matching the ship that you cant see and its movements, speeding up, slowing down adjusting coarse the whole time.. ugh! I rather be the one in control myself. But, hey thats the definition of “Service.” Its a super cool experience when they fly over the ship at supersonic speeds, breaking the sound barrier at maybe 200 feet over your head, the whole ship shutters from the shockwave.. They like doin that stunt. Only, on special occasions.. k done.🤤

In the Air Force, in cold weather deployments, we'd run our heaters on Jet Fuel in our tents. You'd wake up in the morning and blow your nose, and the tissue would smell like jet fuel. I'm still waiting on the brain tumor diagnosis at some point.
@cainsparks3457
@cainsparks3457 2 года назад
Onboard ships, the fuel and water supply is stored in the same tanks! On a Nuclear powered Aircraft carrier, its Jet Fuel and water. On Diesel powered ships its Jet Fuel, Diesel Fuel and water. Supposedly* the different fuels and the water are at such different densities that they dont actually mix with each other, they just sit on top of one another. When you shower or drink from a water fountain “scuttle but” you can smell the fumes of the fuel which makes you not want to drink from the water fountains lol. Ahh, the carcinogens one puts up with to be a US Service member.. haha. I can say though it is absolutely amazing what a person can get used to when you combine having no choice in the matter with repetitive exposure over time.. I used to sit on the deck, leaning against the tire of the landing gear, under the wing literally 15 feet away from where the planes land during full flight operations and nap while waiting for the Pilot to come for his flight.. at night.. it is actually a known thing amongst us and is the only safe place or time on the flight deck you can catch a quick 15 min power nap. We were the only ones that could do it to. Pilots would walk up to us and lightly kick the bottom of our boot if we were out.. lol. Then it was like okay, hi Sir, your Aircraft is ready, now climb up there and get in so we can get you in the air. I miss it actually, the rest of the time on deck your adrenaline is running so high it feels like that everything around you is moving super slow and calm but, in actuality it is high paced and continuous m, intense organized chaos going on all around you..

@@danaward9975 it's free on RU-vid through the BBC or Netflix has it on their platform without ads. John Oliver did an episode of "Last week tonight" on it available on his RU-vid page under the title "PFAS" and Trevor Noah also did a bit for The Daily Show on their YT channel. It's teflon and related perflorinated compounds like firefoam, fluoroquinolone antibiotics, and scotchgard and the cause for a good chunk of post 9/11 disease abd the rise of allergy disorders in areas with high water contamination from stockmarket giants like our buds at good ol' Dupont. Teflon was invented in Jackson NJ and the by products were dumped frivolously into our ground water and water reserves since the 40s. The pans and products add some exposure in use, but it's mostly the byproducts from their manufacturing that's the reason for the highest rates of exposure. Dupont children's is now the leading chdrens hospital in treating related conditions in kids and has been focused on it "unrelated" since it's founding in the late 40s. Sounds like some QAnon-esk tinfoil hatting, but it's actually been subject to a govt cover up since the 40s when teflon was used in the creation of the Manhattan Project and has been a known major health risk since those days... but the govt has always favored stock market giants over us citizens. Manchin also has major ties to it (WV is the main focus of the aforementioned documentary) and is a leading cause of diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, obesity, mitochondrial disease, UC/Crohns, and a number of cancers and autoinflammatory disorders including neuroinflammatory disease that is known to make addicition and chronic pain/ mental health disorders resistant to typical treatment... hence why the opioid crisis most prominent in the areas of highest exposure. A lot of the insider trading at the beginning of covid was done to Dupont and its coenities because they initiated a vast deletion of water way regulations that prohibited the improper disposal of such environmental toxins and, said exposures were predicted then, and officially confirmed now as contributed factors to the development of critical complications from COVID. Yhe exposure rates are also likely why the vaccine efficacy for COVID is so significantly lower in the US, too. Bill Burr and Perdue, with Pelosi, and a few others that did the insider trading on the knowledge of the pandemic being about to hit. This stuff is why QAnon and *ACTUAL* tinfoil hatters fall victim so easily for conspiracy theories in the US... our country's entire existence is nothing but a never ending govt led conspiracy theory machine. 🤦‍♀️

I'm kind of glad it didn't work out. The Baz Luhrmann project was probably not the right fit anyway. That said, I really, really would like to see him in another Elvis project. I can't unsee it in my head. I want to see his take real bad. 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞

Awesome I would love to work with him . I've acted with such likes of Mark Paul gosselaar, Ben Affleck, Sandra bullock. But this would be so fun, am I right ?

I don't think so. It depends on his choices of films. The one that's in the talks of becoming a big star is Austin Butler that's playing Elvis. Saw him on Jimmy Fallon and he's incredibly charming and good looking. The one n only superstar is tom cruise.. Others who are big A lists really is dependant on film choices and type of personality they ooze. Plus most of them won't give that much effort like tom does with movies

CORRECTION: The correct phrase is "champing" at the bit. I even asked Google to be sure... Webster's says "champ at the bit" is to "show impatience at restraint; be restless." It comes from something said about horses when they bite their bits "repeatedly and restlessly." They "champ." J A C K A L
@Lethgar_Smith
@Lethgar_Smith 2 года назад
The "champing at the bit" was the original idiom. "Champing" refers specifically to something a horse does and is not a word commonly found outside of people familiar with horses. "Chomping at the bit" has become the more popular version of the idiom because "chomping" is a word more people are familiar with and refers to a loud chewing noise rather than "champing" which refers to horses grinding their teeth. Both versions however, are considered acceptable.
