Excellent guest. Clearly police matters have universal themes throughout the world. She points out patterns and behaviors and society and in the criminal justice system that repeats itself are on the world. Here in the US, it was nice for her to reference the great work being done by people who are trying to genuinely move the black lives matter movement forward because it is being seen around the world as a way to address police issues in every community. Thank you for having her on the show

I am sure Zoha Mam and Shazad ko is baare main maloom hee hoga lekin zahir hai har kisi ko jaan piyaari hai. I personally know people whose father or family members are In Police Dept. and they have said ke agar koi SHO kisi aise ilaqai main drug lords ko pakarne ki karai aur churse wagera ko band karaye tou most probably hota hai ye ke Rangers ke wing commander ki call ajati ke issai riha karo aur agar resist karain tou phr apko pata hai. I am not generalising, achai log bhi hotai hai no doubt. Karachi kya poorai Pakistan main manshiyat enter ho hee nahi sakti bagair Generals ke order ke bagair. The difference is that ke Rangers and ISI mostly earn from cities and Top brass Generals earn from borders and list goes on.

That was a funny closing guys. I researched the word and found the passage below in a “The Hindustan Times” article. Thulla’ is an extremely popular term used for policemen across north India, including Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR). The term is most widely applied to a person who is ‘not capable of delivering on the work given to him or someone who does not do his work honestly.’

The thing about afghan refugee children is that it was their parents who were caught but their children had no place to go to so the children were 'allowed' to be in jail with their parents. Bad regardless.

In USA... For 320 million population 20 k judges are in judicial system. A case at district level is tried under jury system ( not possible in desi lands) take 2-3 years and 90℅ cases are refused by appellate court on appeal. In India, 1300 million population there are 25-30 k judges. BUT in Indian judiciary , there r 22 hi courts and 1 supreme court, judges in higher judiciary is appointed by 5 judge panel of supreme Court . There are about 1100 judges in hi court and supreme Court. Effectively for 130 cr people in India 1100 judges are available cause... District courts have low prestige, as district judges are appointed by state level exams. 99℅ of cases tried by district court are appealed at hi court and accepted for re trial. Basically a straight forward murder case will take 4-5 years in district court and again tried in hi court, another 4-5 years. So a normal case takes 10-12 years to be tried. Thus in US it takes 2 years to complete a case and in India it takes 10 years ( basically system is useless). I think it's d same problem of Pakistani system. My remedy : have all India legal service like Indian administrative system. Newly selected lawyer undergrad be appointed as legal aide 2-3 years, than public prosecutor 5-6 years, than district judge and after 20 years promote to hi court and subsequently supreme Court. Basically increasing d prestige of district court judges by making it meritorious service .... Speedy justice system could be implemented.

Very good topic, great guest, and good questions from Shehzad. I’m interested in a further comparison between urban police forces in India and Pakistan. A major difference is that that in India the army has no role in law enforcement, but they too suffer from similar ills as Pakistani police. Corruption, encounters, VIP culture are issues there as well. The PSP structure is also quite problematic. The officer cadre is accountable to the centre instead of the province or local governments.

Well let me give you some insight to policing in kolkata. As I live in the city. Most police officers in India do not carry guns especially traffic police. But in kolkata and mumbai it's quite different. Due to the naxal revolution in kolkata a lot police officers and naxal party workers were killed during the 70's. So Our police is actually allowed to carry guns even traffic police officers have guns. But then again our police is actually pretty chill even if you compare with the rest of the country. Even people in the city will tell you that they do a good job. Even here bikes are caught more than cars but then again they won't charge you unnecessarily. And now in 2023 you don't even see police on the streets unless there is a political figure coming to that part of the town. Also the fines are now very high and the fines automatically get charged to your account and if that account has no money. Then when you go to renew your registration for road tax you will have to pay all that with interest. Also you get a sms on you phone if you violate a traffic rule where there are cameras. Also just to add another point encounters don't really happen anymore.

01:30:00 its not that simple, there r different aspects to it, there is poverty, there is regulation, there is also harassment. Beggars and small vendors can neither be eradicated nor given a free pass to everything. If your bell rings 30 times a day assuming your old mother is alone at home, then something needs to be done, thats why marketing or begging is not supposed to be done door to door because then everyone wants to do it, problem is, when we tell walls or omore not to enter residential areas, there big capital will not listen. Also, if the poor are contained so much, say for example a place as big as phase 8 Isb, it was just barren and villages, now its Bahria, the poor guy is banned from all of that area without exception. It should have had at least 4 to 5 itwar bazaars inside, but why? Profit

That was exactly my first thought. Who wears sindhi topi and ajrak like that? Other possibility could be that it is staged. The way looters were wearing topi and ajrak, the facial expression of the guy, no one who is being looted could be so relaxed, people are genuinely scared and shocked in that moment. I have been mugged so i know that moment of dread. This video fits in nicely in the propaganda that flood affectees are coming to karachi and mugging people. Shehzad, the story you were referring didn't happen between civilian police and an army brat. It was between provost/military police and an air force brat in E-9 Islamabad. I don't agree with mocking the kid. He was slapped which was an abuse of power so, he rightfully called his father who held power in that situation. That's what every child/young teen should do. Lastly, if someone were to be slapped, their emotions are going to be heightened so, they might say something stupid/cringe.

The family of Shaheed gets all the benefits of an in- service employee like promotions, raise in salary as announced in the budget , house accommodations and host of other benefits till he reaches superannuation as laid out as a result of embracing martyrdom.

The monetary compensation (at the time of processing) and continued post-humous remuneration is paid to the widow only, not the heirs/family. The rank freezes and is not subject to promotion and/or raises in salary, irrespective of budgetary restructuring. They do not get any further benefits such as accommodation. The only case of superannuation is when the widow remarries.
