You have more employees than I would have thought, (as a carpenter!) Directly across the road from us is a Jersey Dairy farm with 100 plus head milking and another 30 or so dry etc... and your channel has educated me on what running a dairy operation entails daily. Now I know why and what is going on at 4:30am and 9:30pm when the lights are on and the skid steers are rolling. It's the start and finish of a work day! Cheers to all at 10Gen 🇨🇦
Look after your staff and they’ll look after you... Interesting to see a little of the farm management side of things, don’t get stuck in the office though!
Great video Eric! Impressed with the way you inspire and work with your employees. You are a great role model/mentor to teach workers the value of doing things right and doing their best. Skills that will serve them well as they move to other jobs/industries/schooling. Thanks for continuing the previous 9 generations tradition of incredible work. Enjoyed the video. Well done!
your dad and mom are lucky to have you work the place, I am sure they enjoy having you help, keep up the great videos, and I do like seeing how clean you keep the operation
I'm glad that you & your dad get to take break & take lil vacations from the farm you guys are hard working people. My aunt & uncle had small dairy farm in upstate ny seems like they never got a chance to get away.
I am always amazed at the amount of work that goes into getting us a bottle of milk. I would like you to know that you and your family' are sincerely appreciated. Thank you and see you on the next video.
It always makes me laugh when I see how happy and excited the cows are for fresh bedding.. they're just popping around and running like little kids in a new play area or with new toys. Puts a smile on my face, that's for sure. And like they always say (at least in the commercials), happy cows means happy milk and at some point down the line, happy cheese. 😂
Thanks for showing the whole "back end" of your milking system. Nice to know how all that works. And that freezing rain you're having is the pits! Hate trying to get out of the house when everything is coated with that much ice! Take good care and thanks, again, for another great video!
My Brother in Law watches your channel and got me on it ! Very interesting watching the milking and daily activities . We were up there last week , just got back to Tn. Last night ! We drove by the farm hoping you might have a small shop that sold stuff! My Brother in Law was hoping to see You or your Dad out to meet you ! Beautiful Farm !! Thank You for sharing this with us ! God Bless and Be safe !
Love your videos what ever happened to putting God's word at the end I loved seeing that every time. Have a great week can't wait to see the next adventure at the 10th Generation Dairy Farm
I'm a big fan of drinking milk. Thanks for keeping the good stuff coming. BTW it's amazing that a farm as big as yours can be milked by one person. Modern technology is amazing!
Flexibility and pay your help what they are worth and they will always work hard for you. I don't think y'all will have any problems seem like good people to work for.
Thanks for sharing the nuts & bolts of your operation with us. And I appreciate your emphasis on keeping things clean and tidy! I milked cows for 25 years so I know how much work you put in every day. Just want to say thank you for your dedication and commitment to the dairy industry and to us who are the consumers of those tasty dairy treats!
My first video start with milking parlor setup in your channel from then to now never missed a single video same content entertainment same hard work 😓 lots of love from India 🇮🇳
Eric …. I use your gentle soft work ethic to calm my life … right now I’m suffering spinal stenosis… and I’m relegated to bed and not moving much … your life and your mannerisms are so nurturing to me … sometimes I just rewatch and hang out with you … I worked on a 300:head dairy farm for many months … throughly enjoy these days … thank you Eric … ❤️🙏😅
Never gets old watching the manure moved around. Think I'll watch it again...........BTW Eric you could give Tom Pemberton some tips on silage storage. His bunks just awful.....jk
Your family has always looked after the cows as if they were family. Keeping everything clean and well maintained makes for a very good product. Stay safe.
There are many open source and low cost software to match schedules with employee availability, absences, swapping shifts, etc. May be worth checking out.
@@ericrudgers6816 They literally sit on their a** from point A to point B while others load and unload doing the actual work. A robot can do their job, easily replaceable.
Back in the 80's I used to milk on my Uncle's farm in South Dakota we would milk twice A-day I love milk and cows so if I was younger I would definitely apply for a job at your farm for full time milker.
That sheeting you put on the pit sides looks to be working out real good. Makes a clean bright working environment along with the human comfort mats. Being on concrete all the time is hard on the body.
Eric if I lived closer to you I wouldn't care a bit to come over and help you out a few days a week and I don't care which shifts I would be doing it either now
I grew up on a dairy farm. Sure brings back memories of scraping manure! Did that multiple times a day for decades with our skidsteer! Most used piece of equipment on a dairy farm! I like watching you do it . We scraped it into a pit just like that! Then hauled it away. Love the videos!
Good video, guessing your dad has a 20 year plan so the 18 hours just milking per day is justified. Ie milking with people is more reliable and allows you to invest in growing the farm size. Vs buying robots and having them paid off in 10 years but maintaining your current size.
Love your vids and farm! Not sure if you use a scheduling app for scheduling your workers but there are several free ones and would be electronic and won't have to retype! Just a thought! There is one called Sling that might work. And , here in Ohio we've had ice storms every week. Crazy! 🤪
I really liked the tour of the milking parlor. You guys really keep it cleaned up and in top shape. I feel your pain on the ice and muddy conditions, we had a batch of sleet and snow come through about a week ago and now with the warmer weather it's a mess. Oh well it's what we have to go through every year. Enjoyed watching, thanks for sharing, take care and I hope your week goes well.
That milk line system is a hard process, in New Zealand we have a tap a bottom of vat that can which between vat and drain in one quick moment. It has a built in washing system also but your system obviously works
I'm always impressed with your abilities all over the farm and very appreciative that you take the time and put forth the effort to produce your excellent videos. You are an inspiration and a real mentor. Thank you Eric!
Great video! I own my own truck and small business but before that I was a milk truck driver for 5 years in south central PA. I also live on a working dairy farm that my step brother operates. They’re milkin 800 cows and farm 700 acres. I miss the farm pick ups 😂
Very interesting Eric, especially the milking rota without those guys / girls you wouldn't be able to run the family farm. I like the homemade yard scraper..👍
Looks like a different smell than what I work in, poultry houses. Doesn’t matter what type of farming it is though because it’s all nasty. I’ve thought about doing some RU-vid content but don’t know if folks will watch. Cool to see different animals for a change though 🤙🏽
I know what you are living. I had a Dairy in the early 2000 in Texas before the bottom fell out in Texas. I love this lifestyle! It made my boys into wonderful men. They tell me it was the Dairy that taught them to be responsible . I pray God continues to Bless you!
Great video Eric. Does your area support FFA in the school systems and if so, we’re you a part of it? I enjoyed my time in the FFA, and thanks to the generosity of local dairy farmers, we had an awesome reference for the club for field trips and contests.
Hello from Germany! Enjoying your Videos as usual, just gotta ask now that you mentioned it again, why do you milk 3 times a day? Over here two milkings a day are usually the case.
Thank you for what you and your family do for us. I know that all of us play a part in our professional lives to support the needs of our fellow man. But you take the time to show us how you and your family do it. I appreciate you and yours.
Eric.. isnt it counter productive, to treat the manure pits with this Manuretreatment bacteria, and when pump 3 times a day soap and desinfection stuff mix from cleaning the Milking maschinery into the Pit?
@@10thgenerationdairyman61 I´m from an civil construction background in Germany, we do a lot of waterlines, and we do flush them, and desinfect them, (with a kind of cell count Test before were allowed to connect it to the rest of the Grid) and the stuff we use to desinfect the lines, is
Watching your videos brings back my childhood (like 6-11 years old), didn’t grow up on a farm but had a friend who did, I used to love to help milk the cows, dispense the feed, dip the udders in iodine, feed the calf’s and hose the manure out the alleys
Hey man I just wanna say I appreciate your videos i definitely make sure to watch your videos every day and it’s usually always interesting. Also if you need a full time employee let me know.
Hi Eric another great video.. I have a question, why is the pipe that goes to the milk tank and manual change, is there a system that has an automatic switch over valve??
