Mille Lacs Walleye Fishing is on FIRE Right Now 

Still the “skinny walleyes” can always tell a Mille lacs walleye by how skinny they are.

been up there a lot since opener and yes its incredible fishing right now, both smallmouth and walleye

I would love to see a walleye fishing video that doesn't make me feel like I need $100k of fishing boats and electronics to catch a walleye.

But you can't keep any. Major bummer! I'll go to Winnie. Just got back from there. Fishing was great and we ate fish every night.

What kind of a release was that?

Catch and release until August, can only take one after August.

I like the concept of catch and release, especially the big brood stock. But, I will not waste time on a body of water that does not allow you to keep a few for the pan --- that is part of the over all experience.

Here are some tips for handling and releasing fish: Use wet hands: Wetting your hands helps keep the fish's slime coat intact and prevents bacteria growth. Handle gently: Avoid squeezing the fish, touching its eyes, or putting your fingers in its gills. Keep the fish in the water: The longer a fish is out of the water, the lower its chance of survival. Release headfirst: When you do need to handle the fish, release it gently and headfirst. Use a release tool: Use a dehooker, recompression tool, or rubberized landing net to minimize handling. Support the fish's weight: Support the fish's weight along the length of its body. Avoid hanging the fish: Never suspend the fish by its mouth or lip. Resuscitate a sluggish fish: Face the fish into the current until it regains strength.
