HERE ARE THE FACTS -- The great legends of color in his era: BB King - Jackie Wilson - James Brown were there to witness Elvis‘ creativity. He was a one-of-a-kind super talent that grew up in the black community during the great depression and segregation in the deep South. His support for the civil rights movement is not known by the greater population in America. The new Elvis 2022 movie is going to examine this part. This is why almost all black musicians from that era absolutely loved Elvis because he was able to take that Memphis sound all around the country and then the world. Little Richard credited Elvis Presley multiple times for opening up the door for black music and creating a path that he could travel and so he could make his mark. Clearly a terribly racist time Elvis put poverty and racial socialization on his platform. But he did it all through Music and his behind the scenes actions alone. He never got political I think that’s what actually made him so powerful and able to succeed. Recommendation: Elvis and the Black Community. A great collaboration of interviews by legends and historic figures in the black community discussing Elvis. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xd1pXw1DmsA.html Famous quotes: BB KING: 'Let me tell you the definitive truth about Elvis Presley and racism', The King of the Blues, B.B. King said in 2010. 'With Elvis, there was not a single drop of racism in that man. And when I say that, believe me I should know'. -- BB KING JAMES BROWN: “I wasn’t just a fan, I was his brother. He said I was good and I said he was good; we never argued about that. Elvis was a hard worker, dedicated, and God loved him … I love him and hope to see him in heaven. There’ll never be another like that soul brother”. --- JAMES BROWN (During Elvis' private family wake, James was the LAST ONE TO LEAVE. 3 and a half hours later -- it took several of his security guards to help him out of the room. James was devastated -- they sang Gospel together to all hours of the night at each others' homes. James Brown was considered family by the Presley they were so close.) JACKIE WILSON: "A lot of people have accused Elvis of stealing the black man's music, when in fact, almost every black solo entertainer copied from Elvis." --- JACKIE WILSON (Elvis quietly paid for Jackie's medical expenses until the day he passed away in 1977. Before Jackie's stage accident he would carry a small signed photo of Elvis in his pants pocket. Every day, bar none.) RANDY JACKSON (of the Jackson 5): "Elvis used Rock and Roll music to bridge the gap between whites and minorities. He was a wonderful person." LITTLE RICHARD "He sung my Tootie Fruti & by him singing it, made it bigger & made ME bigger" And then he said: “I thank God for Elvis Presley. I thank the Lord for sending Elvis to open the door so I could walk down the road...”- Little Richard

Thank you Steven. I hope the new movies straightens out so many lies about Elvis and showcases the many sources that helped create his style. At a time like this, I hope it tells how Elvis was responsible for a big relief fund for Eukranians escaping communism in 1956. In 2003, the grateful Ukranians made Elvis an honorary citizen of Ukraine. I hope it shows how popular and influential he was. He used his popularity to stop the polio epidemic, which the US government credits him for stopping it. Elvis was a great man. On the 8th day God created Elvis, then rested.

again with the bullshit I see Steven Pomeroy. once again I ask you to tell me what he did for the civil rights movement? did he use his platform and microphone to speak about it? did he walk along side M.L.K. in support of racial equality? yet you go on to say " He never got political I think that’s what actually made him so powerful and able to succeed. " so which one is it? are you spreading lies to people about Elvis or, are you making un substantiated comments? you do know it can be both.

A huge Number One Hit for Elvis in 1957. Unfortunately there are some people that don’t seem to realize or know that Elvis actually grew up within the black community. During a time of segregation he had black friends, neighbors and attended black church and black clubs. Yes, he was greatly influenced by the blues, gospel and black culture, dress and music. He also blew the racial doors open for black music and exposed it to the whites in mass. He faced attempts of the establishment to cancel him, having his records removed from machines, smashed and even banned, threats of violence to him and threats of arrest, yet he stayed the course. People like Muhammad Ali, James Brown, Jackie Wilson, Jim Brown, B.B. King, and Sammy Davis Jr. who all knew Elvis Presley and were his friends all have spoken very highly of him and the person he was. Elvis Presley changed things, after Elvis black artists had more exposure to a wider multi racial audience and more radio airplay on white stations, this was all happening and set in motion before the civil rights movement and has been acknowledged by the Civil Rights Museum. Please react to Elvis Singing Bridge Over Troubled Water, Suspicious Minds and Polk Salad Annie.

Its great to see a family enjoy each others company like yours does. Elvis he did not steal his music, style or moves. This is a myth that has been sustained by misinformation and misunderstanding that keeps perpetuating as people do not research but just accept the myth. Rock and Roll "is not" Blues or R&B". Rock and Roll was a new genre born for the mixing of Blues, Country, Pop of the era and Black and white gospel church music. Blues Elvis was influenced by Muddy Waters, Big Boy Crudup, BB King, Big Joe Turner and others. Country He was influenced by Hank Snow, Eddy Arnold, Earnest Tubb, Bill Monroe and others. Pop he was influenced by Dean Martin, Bing Crosby, Frankie Laine, Mario Lanza and others Gospel music he loved black and white quartets and bass singers and tenors. The blending of all these genres created Rock and Roll! Chuck Berry and Ray Charles admitted some of the first radio music they ever heard was the country music of the Grand Ol Opey from Nashville Tn. Chucks first hit in 55-"Maybelling" was actually an old Bob Wills country swing song from the 1940s "Ida Red" Chuck sped it up and rewrote the lyrics. Ray Charles had several country music hits and albums .in the 50s 60s and 70. NONE of the black entertainers who knew Elvis ever said he stole his music. LIttle Richard said Elvis was a Godsend, a liberator. BB King said "I don't think Elvis ripped anyone off. Music is free to be added to or taken from by any artist black or white. To me I do not think they got it wrong when they called him the King" As far as the moves-they started with his very first live show-people began screaming and yelling as he performed. He went backstage and asked his manager, "What did I do wrong they are yelling" His manager told him "Nothing, you were shaking and twisting your legs all over out there. THATs what they are yelling about" "Jailhouse Rock" was Elvis' 3rd movie and the clip you saw was suppose to be a segment on a TV special that rock star VInce Everett (Elvis)was making. Everett had been in prison for manslaughter before he became a singer and his manager in the film thought it would be a way to address the negative press about it. It was not suppose to be a real prison in the clip.

I don't understand why people say Elvis stole black music. He was influenced by blues and gospel because he grew up in the black community. Many people tried to ban him for what he was doing because he raised awareness to what was considered to be black music. If anything he got people interested in black artists and raised awareness to them. He sang a song about dreaming of "a better land where all my brothers walk hand in hand" as a tribute to MLK's death. He was an advocate for black people. So it annoys me when people try to twist it into him being a racist or someone who stole music that wasn't his. What he did was incredible and it revolutionized the entertainment industry. He was extremely talented and his memory should be honored.

His moves were unique and incredibly energetic especially back in those days when most artists just stood on the spot and sang. Elvis was a huge ball of energy no one moved like him or was as sexually provocative as he was, and it's why they tried to ban him many times back in the day. Of course, most of the younger generation know nothing but the BS that has been spewed on MSM and the like for years and they just lazy repeat it parrot fashion believing it to be fact. He did 33 movies, over 700 songs, sang Gospel, R&B, rock & roll, rockabilly and ballads. He was the greatest entertainer of the 20 th cent. He was a natural singer and dancer, could act and was funny as heck. Over a billion people watched vial satellite his 1973, Aloha From Hawaii concert. He choreographed this dance, and he did some dances in other movies. He performed in Vegas from 1969 until his early death at age 42 in 1977. Those shows were sold out and attended by folks from all over the World, as well as celebs and his fans. BB King, Sammy Davis Junior, Mohammed Ali, Little Richard and his black backup singer, have all praise him. So have the Beatles and many other singers and actors. You seem like a nice family, and I hope you explore him some more. He also recorded In The Ghetto, which Sammy Davis turned down because he wasn’t born in the Ghetto. He said let Elvis perform it cuz he grew up in the Ghetto. He also recorded and sang live on his 68 Comeback Special, If I Can Dream, as a tribute to MLK following his assignation. I am a brown person Polynesian to be exact and it disappointed me, that people should do their research before reacting to Sir EP. That was the first TV video. I respect this man a lot because of where he came from and he respect people of all colours. Think back if you were there in that time he first started and all your hearing is Perry Como, Frank Sinatra. Then out came this kid and created a phenomenal movement for younger people then to listen n dance to Rock n Roll. The white mass hated him, because to them Rock m Roll was devils music. But Sir EP didn't care. He broke down barriers and put an injection into black music that No one else ever done before. Suddenly people started to listen to listen to black people's music. It reminded me of comment that Cissy Houston made what the Sweet Inspirations thought of Sir EP when heard he asked them to be his backup singers..Elvis Presley.. what? and when they got there n met him, it was nothing like what they thought. when they went on his first concert in Texas, he was told to leave the Black girls behind. he told them, either they come, or I don't turn up. he risked criticism n his career many times, because he stood up for what he believed. Go n watch his movie so that you understand who he was and what he did, all the black musician legends love n respect him, because he was truthful n didn't give a shyte about the haters. I am of brown skin and I respect this man and never laughed at his talent. No one today's has ever come closer to this man and his talent. he never wrote his songs, but he did justice to the songs given to him to sing on behalf of the writer. in those days they didn't write their songs. If anyone black accused him of stealing black music, then have a look around and some other black singers if they had stolen someone else's song??? Reactions brought me to your channel, but I was Disappointed. 🤔

Lots of speculation and hopefully the new movie will set straight. Watch the interview by Sam Bell on growing up with Elvis. Sam tells the story of how Elvis was the one of only a few white families in the neighborhood. He further stated that Elvis would be the only boy of the group of boys that would run up to the front of the black church that they attended in order for him to sing and move. He recalled it being natural for Elvis. That says something on how comfortable he was in an all black church and let loose. He was there at ground zero of the Delta Blues. He continued his schooling in Memphis and eventually came up with a style of his own escaping all genres. Watch Elvis and the Black Community to get a better sense of Elvis.

Elvis was a gift from God for generations to come. That is why we have things like You Tube, DVD so future fans can love and appreciate what Elvis was. This was from a movie, Jailhouse Rock, in which he is a young singer who served a jail sentence. His cell mate was an older country singer who had a guitar in his cell. He gave Elvis some guitar instructions. This scene is after he is released and has become a popular singer. He explained to the record guys and audience that this is a number that he and the prisoners used to do. There was no such thing as poll dancing in 1957, just fire polls in firehouses. You son has not seen those moves before. There were no music vids for songs back then. In the movie, Forest Gump, young Forrest wearing his leg braces, does those leg and hip moves, and Elvis says do it again. Later they see Elvis on TV in 1956 doing those exact leg moves. I thought everyone knew it was Elvis that first did that leg thing. Chuck Berry, used to move when he sang some songs in that time period, but his movement was quite different. Elvis first recorded song, in 1954 at age 19, was That’s All Right My Mama, which has a sound different than all black or white singers before him. You son can check out so many reaction channels on RU-vid, plus there are interviews of black performers who knew Elvis.

What about MJ, and others openly admitted they took from Elvis - how come you are not saying something about that. Those feelings and moves were his and his alone. He absolutely gave credit to other artists. He opened the door for others black and white and many such as BB King, Ali, Rufus, and many others gave him credit for it. For one, James Brown. Not exactly like Elvis, but Brown’s moves went a bit beyond what Elvis did. Also, it was well known Elvis was deep in black music culture. He visited the black churches. Elvis was made popular not only because of his talent, but because the music industry had the hunger for a white man who could capture the so-called “black sound and rhythm”. Mix that with the fact Elvis had “the looks” and charisma, and you get the solid gold record sales. I’m 45, but studied those who came before me..including my African ancestors who influenced black music and dance..which contributed a lot to blues and rock n’ roll. It’s just part of our history.

People always hating on Elvis's upbringing. He wasn't racist. He grew up in a black community. He went to church with black folks. He gave all the credit to the black community. He even said his first love for music came from black spiritual music. He stood by black communities when he was in the spotlight. He got into lots of trouble over it as well. At this point, it's just ridiculous that he's still considered racist and ripped off the black community. No, he didn't.

Old interviews with Elvis Charlotte Observer June 1956, and Louie Robinson's interview with Elvis on the set of Jailhouse Rock "The truth about that Elvis Presley rumor." (Jet Magazine August 01 1957) which should have been on the cover with a Ernest Withers's photo, my opinion. He gave recognition and respect. He also did some good "the Rock and roll phenomenon cracked Memphis's segregation laws." (Memphis World News June 1956) before that he was hanging around Beale Street according to Elvis the searcher doc. Rufus Thomas bringing him on stage at the 1956 and 57 WDIA Goodwill Revue (supposedly he sang with BB King in one of them) where he thanked BB King "Thanks man for all of those early lessons you gave me." (Tri-State Defender Dec 1956). He helped promote Jackie Wilson at the Club Trip show (Jackie Wilson interview on Elvis, or Bobby Wilson talks about his father Jackie Wilson and Elvis Presley friendship.) and indroducing Fats Domino as his inspiration in his 1969 Las Vegas show. Elvis indroducing the Jackson 5 at his 1974 Vegas show, Jackie Jackson interview about Elvis.Elvis and Sammy Davis Jnr at Chuck Berry's Vegas lounge show. There are a couple more instances.

No such thing as a music video in Elvis’s lifetime. This was a scene in the movie Jailhouse Rock from 1957. At first, the planned choreography for the movie was something Elvis said he couldn’t do because he didn’t think he could dance. So, the choreographer worked with him and put it together to better suite his style. If you want to see how Elvis moved when he sang on stage in the early days, watch some of the film clips from performances from 1956-1958, especially Hound Dog on the Milton Berle shoe or his first 2 appearances on the Ed Sullivan show. That’s where you get an idea of the style that initially made him famous.

You should educate yourselves about Elvis especially in regards to the black community, there's a two part documentary you could all watch, and not only should you know that he hated the name of The King of Rock N Roll or the idea that he invented it but should know that Elvis was not the "white" guy everybody believes. He was of Native American & Jewish ancestry so he was a fantastic representation of the American melting pot. Also, he has influenced more than anybody realized, including this video which is partially credited as one of the foundational bricks of a singer using back up dancers & music videos, was one of the first artists who produced their own music. Plus, it's not an exaggeration to say that Elvis is in a category by himself in terms of his vocal abilities because the professional vocalists & people in that industry have agreed to put him in his own category because he could hit such a wide variety of notes, transition seamlessly, and in fact, he was never going for perfect pitch and would purposely sing off key to get whatever sound he wanted for a song. Please, learn more about the real Elvis Presley because most of what people have heard is so wrong that it's insulting, disrespectful, and has been repeatedly debunked by the people who knew him.
