Millionaires are Packing for Namibia: The 'Australia of Africa' - Andrew Amoils

In Namibia, there are only three people per square kilometre, the top income tax rate is 37%, citizens pay no capital gains tax, and there is no estate duty to be paid. Added to this low population density and tax regime are abundant natural resources and low crime rates, which is why our neighbouring country in the desert is being tipped to be the next hot spot for dollar millionaires by wealth analysts at New World Health (NWH). In an interview with BizNews, Head of Research at NWH, Andrew Amoils said that Namibia shares many traits with Australia and could be described as the Australia of Africa. He says it is becoming a popular retirement destination, especially in parts of Windhoek and the areas between Swakopmund and Walvis Bay, where lifestyle estates are on the rise. If South Africa was safe and followed Namibia’s capital gains tax and estate duty policies, he said, it would be one of the wealthiest countries in the world in a decade. - Linda van Tilburg

I still dont understand how people compare namibia with SA in terms of corruption..SA has no form of respect amongst their own people..they live in hate and racial disputes and its a continues cycle that badly affect the growth of the economy..however its inevitable for any nation to have complete equality of resources and a suberb quality of living standards for every citizen..but what makes namibia safe and highly potential above other african countries is the respect, values and dignity these people have for themselves and others around them..i can surely say Namibia and Rwanda are hand in hand the most safest,CLEANEST countries in africa..south africans have no respect for even for their own people 😢..

One thing I can say about Namibia is the strict laws. It's not a place to behave as you wish. The police really take their job seriously and with pride. The cleanliness is also something to mention. Comparing to many places...its definitely peaceful and quiet. Cannot take that away from the country. As an ex-Namibian living in Australia, I have a slightly different view of the future of Namibia (the Australia of Africa! Ha ha!) Andrew did not mention agriculture which is a significant contributor to GDP. They used to have a massive Pilchard fishing industry but destroyed that through over-fishing and 'selling' fishing rights to all and sundry, often for personal gain, hence the 'fish-rot' criminal investigation. Also, don't forget street and property crime which is quite rife, with tourists frequently being the victims, which in turn does not help that endeavour. Namibia's foremost attraction is its vastness and emptiness, with most of it desert or semi desert, something I would probably not regard as a priority if I had several million dollars to invest. Diamonds and uranium are valuable contributors to GDP upon which the wellbeing of the nation largely rests. Big plans for 'green' hydrogen are largely pie-in-the-sky at this stage, just like they are in the other Namibia down under.
