The way you become one of the greats is not to focus on other things then your running keep disapline but remember that you should always have a mix of fun and hard work :)

This video brought me to tears. I grew up in NYC and I loved to run. I use to run as fast as I could by myself. Running was my thing. I wanted so bad to do Colgate. Unfortunately, my mother never took me to so it or any other organized track and field. I spent my whole life wondering what could have been. I just turned 50 this year. Three years ago I started a journey of getting fit and eating clean. This year I decided I want to still compete. I actually just started in May. I go out running every day trying to get as fast as I can. I also weight train. I don't know of any organized groups for my age. I'm healthy, don't need medication. I think I'm pretty fast for my age. I just came across your channel this morning. I'm super fan now this evening. You are a fellow New Yorker so i will always root for you and the fact that you are a runner just makes it even sweeter. Good luck to you in everything.

Good luck Dawn.Just to let you know,I competed in the same place place(168 th street armory in high school back in the day. Then the "track" was a bare wooden floor with inner removable curbs but the level of competition and talent was remarkable.I competed in sprint hurdles and the high jump .At that time ,the NYC area produced John Carlos,Larry James,Vincent Matthews,Ron Freemanand Bob Beamon -all of whom medaled in the Mexico City Olympics. But suffice it to say that they were representative of the depth of remarkable talent tat appeared in the Armory .You may have seen the film of the men's 4x400 relay from Mexico City( Olympics 1968).Three of the members of that team were from the crowd that competed in the Armory during that time.Beamon made that prodigious leap of 29 feet and two inches in the long jump.Of course John Carlos will forever be a part of Olympic lore.

This is cool! A glimpse into the world of world level athletics. It reminds me that "wow you guys are actual regular people" (albeit a lot faster).

I think the color of the uniform does not suit you. Overall on TV it has a "faded" look. I think that the colors you wore pink/red [as it looked on TV] during last years games suits you better. Since everything has a "life", the faded nature of the greenish uniform may impact you unfavorably. PS: Love to see you run!
