Beethovens Violin Concerto, a true classic among the classics. But remember, you have to listen to a piece more than only once to really "get" the music. The first time can be very overwhelming. Usually i need three to four listening sessions before i really appreciate the music.

This is one of my favorite pieces of music. We had a recording with violinist Issac Stern with the New York Philharmonic led by Bernstein. When I was in high school I would listen to this late at night when everyone was asleep.

To me personally, this is the most perfect Violin Concerto 🎻❤ The emotions in this music are so pure, noble, majestic... not a single note is misplaced. Milstein hits the mark and captures it imo ♥ Thank you, Gidi 🙏

Nice reaction as ever - Milstein was great. As a bonus, this is the first time I've seen a video of the legendary Sir Adrian Boult conducting... which is a neat coincidence, as I've been listening to some of his Vaughan Williams recordings all day!

Another wonderful performance I recommend is Perlman with Barenboim. It also has the Kreisler cadenzas, probably the finest ever written for this concerto. And Perlman, he owns this concerto, just so beautiful to watch and listen to, I think I've never seen a more enjoyable violin performance video.

@@GIDIREACTSBro you gotta react to Ivo Pogorelich's performances at the 1980 Chopin competition. I can highly recommend his interpretation of scherzo 3 and prelude no 24 op 28!

@@GIDIREACTSYo GIDI! Love the vids. Would really appreciate it if you could find the time to listen to Ivo Pogorelich's (pianist) performances at the 1980 Chopin competition. I can recommend you his interpretation of Scherzo 3 and prelude no 24 op 28 ("the storm")!

Did Gidi do a reaction to Beethoven's 2nd, 4th, 6th symphonies? I remember him listening to the 3rd, but that version didn't reflect its power and beauty at all. It's important to find a good record for your first introduction to the music. It makes all the difference.

@@jimschmitz4848 A 22 minute version set to strange kiddy animation. That's means near half wasn't heard, not sure Stokowski in 1940s sound will be the best either. If that's ok we can do abridged versions of Mahler in the future.

You should listen to some of Anton Arensky’s works. He was Rachmaninoff’s harmony teacher I think. Piano Trio in D minor Suite for Two Pianos 1, 2, and 4 Those are some of my absolute favourites!

Milstein is one of the biggest violinists ever, but he is way more old-school, therefore the quality of the audio in these performances tends to be worse than the ones you've listened to thus far (which I guess is why people are recommending to you more recent recordings). I still think is very good to listen to older violinists like Milstein, Oistrakh, Menuhin, Heifetz, Stern,... slightly more recent like Perlman, Vengerov, Mutter,... and younger ones like the ones you've already reacted to. The way they play and interpret music has changed a lot so it's very interesting to compare and contrast. (Obviously the same goes for other instruments).
