After wanting a holster for my beloved SIG Sauer P210A for a while, back in April I decided on the Milt Sparks 55BN (Bruce Nelson design) in horsehide with elephant trim work.
I chose this holster because of the Milt Sparks reputation of quality, the desire for outside the waistband since I mostly consider my P210 to be a range/target pistol due to its size and features, and wanting a product that matches the SIG in elegance and style.
I think the combination is absolutely beautiful. The quality of the holster complements the pistol perfectly. The leather is classic and fits well. All the stitching is top notch, and the holster has great structure to it. I had no idea leather could feel as positive in retention as polymer/Kydex without being excessively tight.
It still needs a little break in on the belt, but I think this is going to be perfect for my needs.

Colter, nice holster. I've switched over to using leather holsters almost exclusively. Like you said, high quality and made specifically for the handgun is the key. I break my holsters in using the following technique. 1) wet the inside of the holster with ArmorAll gel leather treatment. It's water based and I thin it down a little more with additional water. 2) wrap the handgun with saran wrap and slip a very thin/shear sock over the saran wrap and stretch the sock out fully over the gun. 3) fully insert the gun into the holster and let it sit for 24-36 hours while the leather dries, molds and hardens around the gun. 4) remove the gun and take off the saran wrap/sock. I want my guns to draw smoothly from the holster so I use a little Galco "DRAW EZ" on any spots where the gun appears to be hanging up during the draw. This process seems to provide a perfect fit between the holster and gun and is far superior to just working the gun into a tight holster which usually ends up wearing the blueing (or nitron) finish off in the process of breaking in.

I’m not sure if Milt Sparks does some pre-break-in process, but I think even just the old plastic bag trick would be excessive. The fit really is almost perfect. That 24 hours of just sitting in it made the fit very good. I might try that DRAW EZ, though. It sticks a little bit, but not much at all. That would probably make it ideal. Thanks for the tips. I’ll definitely keep all of that in mind for future applications.

They’re not cheap and the wait time is significant, but if you have a special piece you really want to dress up nice I definitely think it’s worth the wait. I carried this setup for the first time yesterday. Just being on the belt with the pistol in it for a few hours in this Texas humidity, by the time I returned home the draw is smooth if I do my part. It’s a bit more forward of a cant than I’m accustomed to, so it’s going to take a little adaptation on my part. If I think about what I’m doing and draw slowly it’s very smooth. If I try to go fast the muscle memory takes over and it’s a little tight as I’m pulling too far vertically. Just going to take some getting used to, but so far I’m very happy with it.

Colter, have you considered making a video showing this rig on your belt and the draw stroke required. I'm sure many would greatly appreciate it if you did, I know I certainly would. For me, the P210 Standard out of the box is a very fine shooting and accurate pistol. Not my EDC, but it could have been in my younger years. I'm a new sub for your channel. Thanks and Blessings!

That’s a great idea. I actually would have really liked that when I was considering purchase of the holster. I’ll work on that and try to get it out soon.

Nice review! I own a P210 standard and this is exactly what I was looking for: a custom made holster for this pistol (not so many around) and made of leather. Also the fact it’s not made abroad but in a company based in the USA is a plus. One thing you didn’t mention (or I missed): what cant did you get? Straight or FBI type?

I ordered it quite a while ago as was mentioned, but as best I can recall they only offered the forward cant at that time. I certainly could be wrong- but at the very least they definitely suggested I’d prefer their more forward cant based on what I told them. I think it’s a 15°? I accepted either the recommendation or what they were wanting to build for me. The one thing I can say about Milt Sparks is they’re on the upper end of the price spectrum and you have to be willing to wait- but they are absolute gentlemen in correspondence and it’s a first rate custom holster shop. When you call them to place an order just describe what you’re using the holster for and what you’re wanting, and they can give far better recommendations than I can. These guys know their craft and and as long as you’re honest with them about what you need from a holster you won’t be disappointed. For me, this holster does angle *slightly* more forward than what I’m used to, but it’s definitely far better than the vertical I would have otherwise selected without guidance. Just trust them. They know what they’re doing.

You can order the 55BN for P210 or P210A in either FBI cant or straight draw cant. I prefer straight draw for the 55BN and that’s what I ordered for my P210 and P210A. I also have the Axiom which comes with a cant - no straight draw for rugs design.

Do you think my 210 carry will in that holster?

As far as I can think of it, it should fit but the holster will be too long. Yes, but no. Might have to talk to them directly and explain what you need. Maybe they already offer it as an option or might be able to do a slight alteration to shorten it up a bit. That would be their call, though. I would think they could probably use their existing model and just compensate for the shorter slide.
