Milwaukee M12 FUEL Compact Cut Off Tool 2522-21XC
See Article here:
www.toolboxbuzz.com/cordless-...
The New Milwaukee M12 FUEL 3-inch compact cut off tool is a “Jack of all trades, master of none!” It was designed to be a compact, multi-material, cutting tool that operates on the M12 platform.
Overall Impression
The Milwaukee M12 FUEL 3-inch compact cut off tool is a well-balanced, durably designed, one-handed cutting and cut-off tool. Having the ability to cut in either direction and to reverse the blade rotation is a great feature!
This little tool is impressive to say the least, and to quote #TBBCrew member Ethan Bickford:
This little guy is a total problem solver, it's like when the oscillating multi-tool came out. There are cruder, faster methods, but this little guy allows some finesse and it definitely solves problems!
No matter how you look at this tool, there will be times where it will save you time, and allow you to get into spots that would normally be difficult with other cutting tools. We feel that this cutoff tool is an excellent supplemental, problem solving tool that will increase your options to get things done on your projects.

Great review as always! Thank you. Have many Milwaukee tools, but I'll just stick with my angle grinder for cutting metal, multi tool with tile blade and wet saw for tile and tin snips for sheet metal. If it had the wood cutting ability I would have been much more interested.

I'd love to see Milwaukee make diamond coated blades thick enough for removing all sizes of grout lines. If it worked as well as I'm thinking along with that dust extractor it would make removing old grout easier than ever. Its definitely got the power for that task.

Great and honest review. I think this is well suited for hvac work and possibly for cutting tile backer board. It seemed that cutting tile was better left to a wet saw or grinder. The review really gave the viewer a good sense of this tool's capability, so great job.

Someone should do a video of this tool doing real life mechanic work. I have it and used it on one job cutting 3 m8 exhaust flange bolts that were to eroded to get a socket to bite. Not Impressed at all. Keeping the tool perfectly straight and letting the tool do all the work applying no pressure (it shut itself down what seemed like 1000 times and took forever)

I just got one of these little cut-off saws and I used it Sunday for removing one tile from the shower. I used shroud primarily to control the depth of the cut so that I would not over cut and destroy the tile backer board underneath. It worked GREAT!!! The line of sight to the blade as it got near the edges was excellent with the shroud, and the dust collection actually worked. And I heard Rob say the speed on tile was slow, but I found it went through the tile easily. I am a tool hog and I am sure it will become well used in my arsenal of carpentry. Now where the heck is it going to live in the van?

The dust guard is not closing the gap down to the cutting material. I can smell the dust just watching this video. It look nice, but I think I stick with dremel like tool for tiny tasks and angle grinder for bigger ones. Also the good dust shield for angle grinder makes more sense.

You can put a wood blade on it. 3” blades are not available here, but you can order them from the UK. It doesn’t make a very good circular saw however because it is too underpowered. Cutting 1/2 material I have to take my time and I can easily stall it.
@GR-cf4qh
@GR-cf4qh 5 лет назад
After using it with a wood blade for a few months I ended up going back to the cutoff blade. I really wanted a tiny, lightweight circular saw for trim work and cutting plywood and such, but this saw is so underpowered in that role that it never got used. Also, the 3” blades can’t make a cut through 3/4” material. With the abrasive blade on it, it makes a good general purpose cutting tool for thin metals, plastics, etc... For ducting or metal screen it’s great.

Looks difficult to see the saw line with the guard in place. Maybe good portability when electrical power is unavailable but owning one of these like most battery operated tools would require that you have a second battery which becomes very expensive...especially when replacement is needed. I rather prefer one that's powered by an electrical outlet, more powerful & consistent...but that's just my opinion folks.

@jayjayhooksch1
@jayjayhooksch1 5 лет назад
It seems less bulky to me, and that's why it's superior for some applications. The pistol grip should greatly improve maneuverability in one handed applications and the foot plate will give you much greater precision for cutting flat over a grinder. I don't think this is the kind of tool that most people are going to want/need but for some guys doing specific things this tool is going to be a god send.
@BiggMo
@BiggMo 5 лет назад
Jayjayhooks: It looks about 2 or 3x wider. The dust collection is a nice touch but i don’t see it replacing my angle grinder so it’s a tool with redundancy - so I’m not convinced it’s worth the added cost and space in my truck.
@jayjayhooksch1
@jayjayhooksch1 5 лет назад
I agree, it's not going in my tool box either. Between a grinder and oscillating tool it's not going to offer anything I can't already get at. I think you might find it's smaller than you're imagining though, it's 12 volt after all. I have some of the m12 tools and that's one of the larger batteries on it for reference. Im fairly certain it would do a better job than the grinder and/or oscillator in a lot of applications but not anything you couldn't do with a little more elbow grease.
