I’ve been excited about this since first announced, as soon as I get past some expensive bills I am 100% getting one . I’ve been so tempted for ages by the Bosch version but didn’t want another battery platform as I have sooo so many platforms already lol 😂 for me this is perfect for architrave mitre adjustments , door trimming and general finer finish type jobs . I won’t be using it as heavy rough planer as I have an awesome makita for that stuff . Btw , Milwaukee 12 volt in general has become one of my fav platforms as a builder in aus . My absolute fav is the m12 fuel surge impact driver . It’s just ago amazing for the finer quality jobs

Was looking at this planer yesterday and I think I might get it with my next payment, I am a licensed builder and ALL my tools are LXT and XGT MAKITA :3) Still waiting and waiting for the 40V table saw the other day needed a second table saw for another site and purchased a corded Dewalt cheap at Bunnings. Anyway back to the planer, getting sick of handling the 82mm planer on small stuff, I can see myself adding other 12V tools for those small jobs that need finesse, just perfect, thank you for the review. Off topic again, tell me more about the motorbike in the background, I also ride so interested.

Great video. I just wish that the Milwaukee rep for our area would come in and see us at work as most of the guys are on the Milwaukee platform but they only seem to be interested in seeing builders. Even when we have 30 plus guys all with Milwaukee tools. Makes you question there after sales service a bit
@mikemorgan5015
@mikemorgan5015 Год назад
Is Milwaukee supposed to magically know who owns their tools and where and what company and what location they are in? You're evidently not a builder, but you don't tell what line of work you do or where. So, are you in a wood shaving production plant? I'm guessing not since they would likely have mains power in abundance. Maybe you belong to a secret support group for emotionally damaged people who got splinters as children, never got over it, and now roam New Zealand looking for rough surfaces to plane? Without more information, this what I'm going with. Just havin a laugh, don't take it personal.

This is how most companies that manufacturer at a large scale also work. They depend on their distributors/partners/retailers for smaller companies. Unless you are ordering pallets of products they just aren't setup for sales/service for anything smaller. What you probably need to do instead is contact one of their large authorized distributors/resellers in the area that specialize in sales/service for plumbing companies (rather than a retailer like Home Depot). Give that a try and I think you'll have better luck!

What's amazing to me is how it manages to collect all the chips with the vacuum attached. How many hand-held power tools manage to collect more than 90% of sawdust or chips with their integrated dust ports? In my experience, very few. I watched your reviews of 18V planers, and I was struck by the poor performance of the Milwaukee. I'm not shocked because every name-brand maker of power tools brand makes some good tools and at least a few that are terrible --including Makita. I own M12 and M18 tools (and batteries) as well as Makita 18V tools+batteries. If I wanted a big planer, I'd get the Makita, but I could see this little planer being a really nice tool. I built a single-pitched roof on a treehouse for my daughter last summer. I notched the purlins so they would have a nice tight fit with the rafters, but then I realized that some of the rafters were crowned a bit more than others, and a couple had a bump or 2 where there were some knots in the Douglas Fir that I used. Since I wanted the purlins to sit tight and square, I spent probably 40 minutes on a ladder up in this treehouse to remove high spots in 2 or 3 rafters with a small block plane. Having a lightweight battery-powered planer would have made this work a lot faster. Also, if I'm just planing off the edge of a rafter that's 1+1/2 inches (38mm) and working up on a ladder, I'd much rather use a lightweight and small M12 tool than a bigger tool like the Makita 18V planer. Similarly, when I'm up on a ladder on a platform up in a tree driving screws into purlins or corrugated polycarbonate roofing, I use my Milwaukee M12 surge impact driver (love that tool) rather than a bigger 18V driver. I'm guessing that Milwaukee may take the lessons that they've learned from making this planer to improve the next generation of their M18 planer.

@LordVordnorf
@LordVordnorf Год назад
I have used the Bosch, not this. I think the Bosch is slightly smaller but not as powerful. The depth adjust dial on the Bosch is stiff and awkward with no scale to tell you the depth you are working at. No blade storage. Clogs easily if taking deeper passes. I'm looking forward to when this releases, looks like a much better tool and I'm on M12.

Makita folks all eye the m12 tools. Just shows Makita needs to bulk up their subcompact range. I would like to see them take a Dewalt atomic approach - keep the battery compatibility with normal 18v tools but improve and make the 1.5ah/2ah batteries slimmer. A lot of m12 tools are already barely smaller than Makita’s subcompact tools.
@clutteredchicagogarage2720
@clutteredchicagogarage2720 9 месяцев назад
I have some Makita subcompact 18V tools as well as some Milwaukee M12 tools. I've found good and bad tools in both lines. My favorite impact driver is the M12 surge fluid impact because it has more than enough power to drive 90% of the screws that I use, and it's much quieter than every other impact driver that I've used. My go-to drill is my Makita 12V subcompact. The clicky chuck can sometimes get stuck, but otherwise I love the ergonomics of the tool -- especially when I'm working up on a ladder. I strongly prefer Makita's circular saws over MIlwaukee's due to superior ergonomics, and I have a couple different ones.

@wearsjorge55
@wearsjorge55 Год назад
Its ergonomics. Traditional grip we see on all the 18v tools and some 12v tools is designed to be comfy and for repetitive tasks without hurting your hands. If you've got bigger hands or you don't use the chunky grip that much its not that big a deal
@ericmann1781
@ericmann1781 Год назад
d@@nominalvelocity It only bothered me when I developed CECS in my right forearm from my job (unrelated to these tools), the larger grip required extra grip strength and it accumulates muscle fatigue over longer period of time. Think dumbell fat grips but obviously much less extreme, but for extended periods. But even with my kind of extreme case injury, the grip is just an insignificant nuisance that is countered by it's significantly lighter weight than an equivalent 18v tool. I am replacing many of my M18 tools for Makita XGT for ergonomics, in vibration and noise, but there's no way I drop the M12 line, nothing can compete with the lineup.
@clutteredchicagogarage2720

I agree. I don't have very big hands, and I really don't mind the M12 handles. Of the Milwaukee tools that I own, I generally prefer the ergonomics on a few of my M12 tools over some of my M18 tools, but I would also say that my 18V Makita tools have better ergonomics than my Milwaukee tools in general.
