Milwaukee Tool Quik-Lok System
The Milwaukee Quik-Lok attachment system is powered by the M18 FUEL platform and currently features 4 different attachments, as well as a 3-foot extension. With just one M18 Powerhead, you can switch between a string-trimmer, edger, articulating hedge trimmer, and pole saw. If you need some extra reach, just slip the 3’ extension between the powerhead and tool attachment.
Miwaukee Quik-Lok Attachment System Features
1 Yard, 1 Battery, 1 System. With just one 9.0 High Demand M18 battery, we weed-eated, edged, trimmed hedges, and pruned trees in this typical 1/3-acre home in Central Florida. We tackled over 500-feet of edging around concrete driveways and sidewalks, more than 600’ of string-trimming around a PVC fence, trimmed multiple hedges, and pruned several branches from oaks, palms, and hedges. When we were done, we still had 2-bars left on the M18 9.0 battery.
Performance
First thoughts on this system has to be the power. We’ve used and tested Milwaukee’s lawn tools since their launch, and version 1 of the tools, were at best, acceptable. This is a completely different feel. The new M18 FUEL power head combined with the 9.0 High Demand battery packs some serious punch. After using all the attachments, we didn’t feel that any were underpowered.
Throttle response is killer on the Milwaukee Quik-Lok system. Once you pull the trigger, the tool reaches maximum RPM in about 1-second - almost instantaneous. This is something we noticed on the 2nd Generation M18 blower we reviewed as well.
Build Quality
What also stands out to us is the quality of the build. This doesn’t feel or function like a “cheap” homeowner’s combination lawn tool set. There is little to No flex in the shafts and the Quik-Lok system provides positive feedback when it’s locked in place. Furthermore, the secondary thumb-screw clamp ensures a tight grasp on the joint.
Now, I will say that we did have a some issues with getting the attachments to click into place on the first try. We had to either move the tool attachment a bit, or blip the throttle, so the shafts would align and they would snap into place. We think this should get better over time, as the shafts mesh into one another. And this was not tough to overcome, but it is worth mentioning.
Final Thoughts
Milwaukee has done a very good job with quality and performance on the M18 FUEL Quik-Lok attachment system. Our only small issue was the attachments not clicking together every time. Again, something we think that will get better as they wear and age. For this whole system, you’ll be in the $800 range, however, just $329 will get you the powerhead, string trimmer, battery and charger, from the Home Depot. While this may be a big pill to swallow, it makes a lot of sense to switch over. No more gas and oil to deal with, and you can put these away in a closet, for storage, if you want. One 9.0 battery easily accomplished all the tasks for the typical American home.
Furthermore, it’s doubtful that you’ll be pruning and hedge trimming every time you mow, so your battery will carry you even further. With the power, performance, efficiency, and value, the Milwaukee Quik-Lok system is an easy recommendation.
Gas Tank Hacks
Now, the only question is: what do you do with that old gas tank?! We have an idea you may like. We cut some holes in ours to resemble swiss cheese, then used it to mount our new Milwaukee Quik-Lok tools.
