@@echoesofdarknesss go watch some footage of Dennis Radar, the dude who played him is such a good actor, why is acting a competition for some people, just because the guy who played Kemper had a great role of a psychopath who doesn't shut up, that doesn't take anything away from the actor who played BTK
@@hobnobhead4043 Once again, i didn't say it was a competition. You take words out of my mouth. I'm just saying his acting potential hasn't been used completely for the two seasons and i feel it's normal they want to slow pace his character. He is doing a great job so far. He's probably such a damn good actor.
@@echoesofdarknesss You're clearly intentionally being the party pooper, since the fact that he had only 10 or little more than 10 lines in two seasons spam makes it really hard for him to prove himself any better. He did an excellent job, and if they ever make a season 3, then he will most likely get more lines and it will be justifiable to call him good actor. Sorry for shit english
The actor who played Ed Kemper was a fantastic actor, too. His mannerisms, his walk, his voice, and the way he spoke, was exactly like Kemper. Whomever is in charge of casting, needs to get an award.
"I was just goofin around!" What man hasn't had to use that excuse at some point in their life when they are strangling themselves on the bathroom doorknob while wearing their wife's underwear?
Funny enough, Rader was a leader at his local church, a boy-scout leader, very involved in his community and a hard-working, devoted family man... much like Flanders.
@@djbouncer420 no man like they have good music You could also see the change music when the time line changes and when they approach the cave Every era and character has it's own sounds
I just realized that he gets frustrated in one of the scenes. He's inside a home and get flustered. It was because one of his targets was a woman who escaped death by coming home late. Rader became inpatient after waiting in her home for a long while then left "absolutely livid."
I think that’s cause they expect the people who are watching this to know who Dennis Rader is, so they already know WHAT he did. There’s no need to glorify the acts.
@@garylennon5115 he actually asked the police in a newspaper report if he could send a floppy disk with some information on it to them without getting caught, the police responded through another newspaper post that they wouldn't be able to get him, so he actually sent them a floppy disk and they could trace him through some deleted data on it
@@seansch_ even then they caught him on security footage leaving a package for them and he owned an uncommon vehicle in the state. It would only be a matter of time before they caught him.
@@luangelzoom2882 I know a few people in the Military and they often tell me you don't ever get anything new unless the empty / used is first produced. There is also another way. You say it's lost or destroyed and then you may have to pay for it. You just can't ask for something unless you really need it. It's a military thing.
@@leokimvideo I think it also shows as to how, the character in this case BTK, can be suffering from some compulsive personality disorder and fails to interact with the other man by refusing to give another electrical tape without the empty cardboard core in hand. The fact that he looks like a very neat employee while also not connecting with his peers and people around him even signifies an antisocial attitude in general some traits very common within serial murderers as behavior reported from the people who worked with them. Fincher got it all right to the details.
A friend of mine knew his neighbor. They said he was a perfectly normal and nice guy. You never know who in your life could secretly be a twisted and demented person or even killer.
Matthew Carlson dude that’s crazy. It’s baffling how well some psychopaths can blend in so naturally that few people ever suspect them of being anything else than normal.
Danny Stevens entirely possible. However I know my friend to be trustworthy so that limits the potential for lying to only one person, the neighbor. And considering my friend and her nieghbor do live in Kansas, I think it’s highly likely to be true. You never know though, there seem to be a million stories about Ted Bundy like that, if you ask people who live in the areas he lived/killed in, they probably have some story about some friend of an uncle who met Bundy.
The sheer anger I felt when I realized I had binge watched all of Mindhunter, and found out the show was put on hold indefinitely. I’ve been dying (har har) for an active serial killer to be in the show, as opposed to incarcerated ones.
@@mati_rulo Well the show is really expensive to produce so it got cancelled, which of course means that it isn't popular enough, but to be fair it isn't the kind of show that would get the same amount of popularity as something like Stranger Things. But it certainly had a big fanbase for the kind of show that it is. And popularity doesn't even really have anything to do with how it's rated. It has received a lot of praise and good reviews, therefore it is not underrated.
Maybe.. nonetheless the dialogue goes stale in every step away. Some lines are borrowed from BoJack Horseman. I am not kidding. I hoped to see deeper analysis. I would say some are successful, but there is nothing beyond what I know. It was impressive that it refers to Durkheim but no Weber or Foucault? Fail!
I know everyone loves Cameron's performance as Ed Kemper, but I bet if we had more seasons and got to the point in which we saw more of this guy and finished his storyline, he would've been the prize of the show. We only got 15 mins of him and he was already so creepy.
4:52 This was the reason Dennis "BTK" Rader didn't have more victims (not for lack of trying). There were plenty of times he broke into people's homes and waited for them to arrive, but luckily for them they didn't come home those nights. It frustrated him when he couldn't commit his heinous acts, which is expressed in this scene of him beating on his chest and leaving. All the way around sick. David Fincher and the writers did a good job.
Ohhhhh so he’s in somebody else’s house in that scene?! I always thought that was him leaving his house to go commit a murder. Wow, that makes so much more sense.
@@charliepreidis3004 Yeah. Dennis Rader admitted to this and so many other things in his very lengthy confession. For the brief moments BTK was shown in Mindhunter, the show did a lot in terms of storytelling.
He was referred to as Dennis in the first scene. I knew beforehand though, a dude with a moustache and glasses who works for an alarm company in Kansas? It's too much of a coincidence
I guy came into the service station where I work and bought a candy bar. The next week he came back and bought another one, I said I'm sorry I can't sell you another candy bar until you bring back the wrapper from the one you brought last week.

@@moarroz he took pleasure in having power over people too you could also argue it was just another way for him to assert his position of power over the guys ability to get tape
His was my favorite part of Mindhunter, the creepy music and short vignettes teasing us in S1/S2 was perfect. It would be a tragedy if we didn't get a 3rd season paying this off.
@@rashan2424 i think so maybe. I mean they have been building it up for so much time. Although BTK getting caught will probably not match the timeline of the show as I think he was caught in 2004/2005. But sadly S03 was put on hold indefinitely
The most underrated part of Mindhunter is it's cinematography. 7:56 for me is the epitome of cinematography. Music, the movement of camera and all. Fuc*ing chills!!!
@Jax Teller Yeah that is the problem. People will not watch this right now but after a decade suddenly this show will boom but till then it would be too late.
channel break You are right, she just asked the question so we don’t know whether she ended up buying or not. Maybe she was just taking a shot at it. Either way, what a tacky and annoying thing to do. 😆
@@thethrowawaythatstayed7055 idk why but what I got from that is temptation he seemed too already be scoping out the house when she says that in his mind he thinks “perfect” but then remembers it wouldn’t help him with his crime maybe I misinterpreted tho
I love how the wife give him a book and look at him as if she said, “I don’t know what you are but you are a very sick man. You need help. Soon. Now. I’ll talk if you don’t.”
I know this doesn’t make sense but I feel the nostalgia of the 70s and I wasn’t even alive in the 70s. David Fincher is a genius. If they don’t make at least another 5 seasons this will be absolutely criminal. Easily one of the best series ever made.
That little fit he throws in the kitchen always makes me laugh. I feel guilty every time because I know he really did wait for one of his victims (Anna) & later said he was livid when she didn't come home as expected.
I think it’s funny and feel no guilt. I am super glad a would-be victim managed to evade death and at the same time caused such an evil person to be upset. To me it’s a win-win-win. She survived, his day was ruined and we get pleasure out of his DISpleasure. 😄
@@PherioxusHe wasn’t hyping himself up. He was angry because he waited and waited for the would-be victim but she never arrived so he had to abandon his murder plans.
I remember seeing the rope on the door scene and was really freaked out. They did such a great job building the creepiness around the btk. I love this show and have have been waiting forever for season 3 to drop!
That scene creeped me out so bad the first time I saw it that I double checked to see if I locked my door that night. When I checked it was actually unlocked 😳
Creepiest guy in the series, the way they presented and showed small moments of him at the start of the episodes was brilliant. Also that ending gave me chills.
Mindhunter has really good lookalike actors for the serial killers. I think the best lookalikes are David Berkowitz, Charles Manson and Dennis Rader. It's brilliant how a little hairdo and makeup can do to bring these characters to the screen.
KickAss_Beast I had heard of BTK but never actually looked up any details on him until I saw this show. The real photos he took of himself with the masks and wigs on gave me nightmares (literally). I didn’t even see pics of his victims, just selfies he took and it bothered me a LOT. 😟
@@daughterofolaf yeah I feel you, I like my night's sleep so I'm not about that photo research life. If the mask in the show bothered me a bit I have no desire to see the real thing
Apparently masks freak people out because it’s a part of our survival instincts to read people’s faces! Something in our brain makes us feel unsafe when we can’t do it. I kind of find that fascinating.
Throwaway That’ll stay That’s interesting. I was never sure why seeing his selfies with that mask felt so upsetting. I’ve seen plenty of dead body pics (I was extremely morbidly curious about this stuff when I was a teen and I’ve seen things I wish I had never seen) but his self-portraits freaked me out every bit as much if not more so than some other things. Yikes.
daughterofolaf yeah it’s very interesting hey! And totally makes sense when you think about it. I remember the only thing that ever freaked me out as a kid was the idea of a Michael Myers/The Stangers type person coming after me. I never knew why masked GOT to me. Especially when I was a huge horror fan and don’t have a lot of fears (same with the having seen a lot in life). Pictures of dead bodies never scare me.. a live person concealing their face with a mask with a fixed expression though? Eeek. Unsettling af! I’d rather see a balaclava than a mask. 😬
6:17 This scene is pure genius. The way the fire reflects in his glasses, giving him the eyes of the devil and foreshadowing the evil acts he was going to commit.
I binged season 1 in one night and was so sleepy I completely missed this guy's story. Could you please explain what was this guy's role? What crimes did he do?
Season 3 ain't happening till 2022/23. I can see Bundy's interview about the Green River killer happening, also Gacy and the arrest of the Night Stalker set in the mid 80s. BTK & Kemper need more screen time. Interesting if they talk about the unsolved Zodiac case.
@@wyatthill6252 No, Bundy will already be caught. It's better for the viewer to hear about the crime and picture it instead of showing what he done. The show's not graphic in violence, so you can get more from the dialogue used in the interview.
Man there was alot of creepy dudes in the whole series and I really didn't mind btk's character UNTIL the very last scene that was just so creepy literally gave me nightmares
It’s frightening to know this killer lived close to me. I now have double locks and check my doors and windows because of this guy…not that it makes a huge difference. In this show they make him creepy but in real life he came across somewhat friendly and normal. I still get chills knowing what I didn’t know then.
There's a man I work with who is the pure spit of Dennis radar, same face and mannerisms and all but he's way too dumb and stupid to be a serial killer so I ain't worried. He that's dumb he was walking home from the pub one night, facing the wind, so he turned around to light his cigarette, he forgot to turn back around again so ended up back at the pub.
The crazy thing was he was actually getting away with sending the letters. However the reason he got caught from the letters is because at a certain point he started sending them all from his church’s computer and they were able to trace the computer.
@prod. HxxTxk He sent them a floppy disk which had data still on it, he had used this floppy disk at his church and on his computer. After this they got a warrant for his daughters dna and compared it to DNA found at a BTK crime scene... It was a familial match.
He read an article in the early 2000s that said he was likely dead and he started sending letters again then leaving packages. He then asked the police if they could trace a floppy disk and they put an ad in the newspaper saying no they couldn't. So he sent a floppy disk as a test and it lead them to the church computer and they found him. Though actually he left his initials in one of his earlier letters that was missed by investigators.
There is actually ONE SINGLE moment - 3:00 - when he smiles (or rather pretending smiling and laughing) - and it looks really CREEPY :) - like the corpses tried to smile.
Also, he’s laughing more at the fact his victim pool isn’t worried enough about dangerous intruders like himself to actually protect against, thus making them especially vulnerable to his attacks.
You can see as soon as he’s done the smile he immediately knows he’s almost shown his true colours so he immediately hides it and looks concerned that he let himself show that much
I think this was to show what the series always said through different characters: Eventually they look normal, they walk among people, nobody notices those serial killers. And that's how the show introduces BTK, as a normal guy with day to day stuff he does, walks on the street, or at the library. You're not even sure if he's before a murder or after one. Really impressed by that show. Amazing.
The actor, the eerie music in the background. The little things, details - like how he flinches or rather gets even more alert when the dog barks. Such a brilliant production. David Fincher, the cast and crew should be proud. We are unlucky that the project was abandoned. Please make a season 3, 4, 5, 6 and more. Staying tuned.
They presented him in bits and pieces because they only had bits and pieces of who he was becoming...while other murders were being solved this mf was moving about doing stuff in the background until he got ready to expose himself to the world like hey I'm a serial killer too look at me
Well Netflix officially cancelled the show. Any thoughts I know Netflix is a hypocrite they'll make shows like stranger things and Wednesday Teenage dramas and the other hand
He also voiced a character on either Madden or NBA 2k... I just remember playing and thinking to myself "why the hell does my coach sound like Ed Kemper in these cut scenes
6:03 In this scene the owner of this house was supposed to return from a party at night. So BTK was waiting for her return so that he can do his torture thing. But the female owner decided to do a night over at the party. So BTK kept waiting for a long time. This made him really angry and frustrated and guess he could do nothing because he can't leave a clue that he was there. That owner is still alive.
If Dennis Rader hadn't been so arrogant he could easily been the most prolific serial killer of all time. I wouldn't set foot in Kansas if they never caught him.
Mindhunter IS NOT cancelled, it is on hiatus while david fincher works on another project and while covid is rampant, it is expected to return with season 3 at the end of 2021 or beginning of 2022
Krista N seriously?! but they just released their actors from their contracts though so idk how the show is gonna work from the constant backtrack of we’ll make this or we’ll pause for now
Is it just me that I was having hard time watching Mindhunter bc the picture's so dark (even with max brightness). I hope it does comeback though, it's one of my fav shows.
My dad works for ADT, and has been for more more than 25 years. The scene where BTK is driving off in the van, I looked at my dad and said; "something you want to tell us dad?" 😩🤣
The thing that pisses me off about so many serial killers is that they could have gotten away with had they not taunted the police by sending letters and gloating and confessing? Who does that? I guess the killing isn't satisfactory enough they need to feel superior like they are smarter than everyone.
Sonny Valicenti (the actor on the video above) was SO PERFECT in this role. I don't know the real killer's behaviour, but this guy really scared the shit out of me, so I CRAVE for the season 3. It's so sad, so UNFAIR that Netflix can't do this show anymore, I'm mad and disappointed...
Such a shame COVID robbed us of more seasons of Mindhunter... it was one the best serial killer series ever made, likely because of David Fincher's involvement. That's one subject that Fincher is a master of.
@@chantalm9393 And i'm sure most of them stopped watching it after first 3 episodes. First 3 episodes were very slow. Only from 4th episode the whole series gets interesting.
Well in a way, that's better then knowing who he was because you were probably trying to figure out who such a boring, normal, seemingly average guy with a mundane life was, which in a way is why he was why he wasn't caught for so long.
Went back 3 or 4 times because I was positive the house he was hiding in was the same one where he earlier gave the homeowner an estimate. Would've been a neat twist -- but she has blinds in the kitchen, not curtains. Damn! 🤣
10:34 the musical piece BTK is listening to is Stabat Mater (Quando Corpus Morietur) by Pergolesi. The woman is singing about the pain of a mother (Mother Mary) losing her child (Jesus Christ). It's a perfect choice to symbolize BTK's satanically sadistic nature and how he even reveled in torturing women and killing their children.
