I'm so excited that this sort of thing is becoming more common place with the new complete builds of classic cars that try to keep to the original concepts but with modern refinement. I hope Mine's can keep doing exactly this for many more generations.
Mine's R34 is legendary and still holds up performance wise with some of the fastest modern supercars. I would have liked to hear more about Niikura-san's engine building philosophy and what makes his engines so responsive.
JDM Masters has a video where they also visited Mine's and they did get to talk about how they build their engines. TL;DR They build the bottom end for extremely high power levels (900+hp) but they tune the engine to produce about 500-600hp because that's the sweet spot of having enough power to make it exciting, but not so much that it's uncontrollable.
This is exactly why I love brands like HKS, Mines, TOM'S, GReddy, ARC etc... So much attention to detail in all of their products/builds and all of their stuff has a timeless style. Im more of an domestic car person myself but damn do I appreciate stuff like this
Being broke aint easy brother but put goals in your life chase your dreams never get disapointed of life because life its self is a teacher and we can learn how to make and save or manage money be blessed stay safe❤
I RARELY can say a car is built pretty much exactly how'd I want it. Holy baloney that interior, the wheel fitment, that pristine engine bay with the most Godzilla strutbar I've seen! If I could build a R33 to even a breath of this car's quality, few things would have me happier 😭 Thank you Mine's team, Nissan, Hagerty and Larry for bring this car to the world, I will cherish this video.
Ok so back in the late 90s I was around 17 and I used to have this car in the GT2 for play station 2. This is still one of those dream cars that has always been a vehicle that’s timeless to me. It will always be an icon.
I remember seeing the video of Tsuchiya-San and Orido-San driving the Mine’s R34 and the Big Fat Torque Monster Supra in junior high back in the early 2000’s. Seeing the RPM’s in the R34 shoot up was absolutely bonkers.
Most of us dream to own such cars as a Ferrari, Lamborghini or Mclaren but i think a lot of us would be over the moon to own a Mine's GTR. This R33 is amazing and would be a thrill to drive every single day
I want that R33 ! - Mine”s builds, are all about Balance-Response-& Durability. The attention to detail and the unmatched quality that Mine”s produces, is the prime example of perfection. To me, it does not get any better than this… I❤Mine”s.
Yep, they are famous for the engines but whoever did that dash and interior could make a killing if they sold them with a core discount! Not only the GT-R but a lot of JDM legends who weren't treated kindly by the sun and just everyday wear.
I need one badly, of all the cars in the world , I want that 33 so bad makes me forget about porch for a while. Thanks guys for bringing this episode, means a lot as a fan
i respect the overall goal that they have as a layman versus slam as much power in as you can. This is more refined. almost like a fine wine of the auto world. thank you for the tour
While many people love the R34 GTR, I personally love the R33 GTR. Its design looks sleek from the R34 especially from mid to rear end. So beautiful and muscular.
I am grateful and extremely blessed to own a Gtst r33, especially here in the United States. But man oh, man if one day I could afford one of these beautiful specimens. Just an absolutely beautiful vehicle and piece of art. We always say that the Japanese do things, right, take their time, and everything is perfection when it comes to vehicles like this. And that still stands true at Mines. Wow wow wow
I owned a modified R32 while on Okinawa greatest car/race car I ever owned....I drove it hard and it could take it, no major breakdowns while I owned it, these cars are so tough, now I have a Toyota Mark X 300G which is pretty nice on the Island.
What’s so amazing about how MINE’s tune there cars is that they are able to squeeze out so much power out of the engine but not sacrificing its on track performance, it can kill in a drag race but it can also turn too. Just excellent tuning.
Mines green is SICK! So understated yet special and rare to see incorporated on anything else. These guys are truly incredible in their dedication and execution.
the attention to detail is insane. they made the inside of the trunk LOOK like metal, when it's actually carbon. just for the stock imitation. almost maniacal.
Larry, you just recently popped on my radar via Hagerty and it's been hit after hit! You just seem to cover all the right things. I'm not really a JDM guy either! Keep em coming!
I’ve been following Larry since we was shooting for all of the tuner magazines. Well before he was working for hagerty. These guys have broght on some of the best hosts though. If I’m not mistaken, they even have Matt Farrah from the smoking tire working with them.
These last 2 videos have hit my soul in a place I did t know anyone could reach. That mines demo car also eddie d a part of my life. I never knew such a thing was possible… then there was Gran Tourismo……
MINE'S has the philosophy of Porsche. refined, well- balanced, enjoyable, responsive. Singer and BBL are producing the best restored cars in the planet.
I remember when dk and other pro Japanese racing drivers compared a mines r34 gtr and a amuse supra, the mines gtr caught the pros off guard by how brutal the acceleration and the power delivery of that car, they said that it was too much
Mine's is one of my favorite Japanese car companies for me I remember watching the DVD's that came in magazines in the late 90's early 2000's on their cars I dreamed of there parts same as Jun GT "Jun auto" Toda tomei top secret and hks! Thanks for this vlog it was epic
I love all GT-Rs. I believe they are what a car is supposed to be. Pure power and handling. GT-Rs are what a car is/should be. You could offer me a Ferrari or a GT-R I'll pick the GT-R hands down.
That's definitely my dream R33. I wish we could have seen a little more to add length to the video. I'm gonna age myself here a little, but I remember when the R33 GTR was the new hotness. I have fond memories of those days.
