If you call "occasionally creating a random piece of software that is technically playable, but not willing to share it with people because of it not feeling finished and being too lazy to make it feel finished" game development, then yeah, you might say I am a game developer.

I think something like 3d minesweeper could be one of those surprisingly simple (programming wise) things that could actually be a huge hit. I would not be surprised if you could make money off of this.

Funny thing. We participated in LD with almost same idea. Wrote minesweeper code, but decided to change slighly. Were surprised by the video

@@mememan4705 It's more "How have I not seen this done before" There is probably thousands of people that thought of it, a few thousands actually had any idea how to do it, a few hundred attempted to make something like it at one point but got bored or something and about a hundred actually made an actual game for it, and then you only see one of the hundred 3D minesweeper games. Obviously numbers would be way off but it's that general idea of smaller and smaller fractions. Also the fact that when minesweeper came out the technology for actually making a 3D version wouldn't easily accessible, but now a days it could easily be made with a game engine like Unity, Unreal or Godot.

And having blocks taking into account themselves really threw me off since I'm so used to the normal minesweeper mechanics

@@Jesusls Yeah, we've realized in the middle of development that mechanics are so different than we originally thought it would be, and wouldn't necessarily make sense. Seems like the only logical strategy for this one would be to look for white blocks and then use probability. Maybe someone in the future will revisit this idea and come up with something smarter.
