They told me that looking into the code, the item transfer exploit seems to only work if you have creative mode on the receiving server. A bit unfortunate, but that was the point of me making the video. As I mentioned I didn't know enough about the game to understand the mechanics behind the bug. Still a cool bug worth making a video about though :)

Hey, I'm the developer of LabyMod and I guess this is happening because of LabyMod's "Fast World Loading" optimization. It speeds up the loading screen when switching between worlds or respawning. It's kind of strange that there is such a lag when joining a server. Usually you have to add specific start-parameters in the launcher to achieve the same result.

Something I do notice about this is that it wouldn’t work so well on 2b2t (ironic) because of its queue system. Players are logged into a separate queue server to wait to be logged into 2b2t itself. This way, only players with priority queue would be able to potentially utilize the glitch, as priority queue bypasses the wait. Otherwise they’d just be connecting to the queue server.

Bro, memories just hit. As soon as you explained the bug, i remembered, it actually started happening to me so many years back, i had a shitty pc with a shitty connection and for some reason sometimes i would enter singleplayer worlds that had the chat of some of my online servers, eventually it fixed itself but i never thought anything about it

This is crazy and game breaking, congrats on bringing this obscure bug back to the spotlight, I'm sure any technical youtubers that hear of this will get cracking. And as you said, mojang had 8 years to fix this, don't blame yourself for learning more about it and trying to replicate it.

As a programmer, I don’t expect this bug to do anything that you can’t already do with modifying packets that your client sends (which is what most cheats in cheat clients are about) There simply is nothing special about this from the server’s perspective as it’s just a client sending random junk packets. The servers aren’t connected to each other, it’s just confusing the client and sending weird stuff

The thing that happens, as I think, is that the game didn't check if you are already in a server when joining another one. That basically causes the two servers to send world info to your client at the same time, so you constantly switch between the servers.

I love how the last few years has led to so much research about Minecraft and it's culture. I don't think I would've ever found the connection to the bug report on Mojang or the Xumavoid video labeled as a different bug

surprisingly this has happened to me sooo many times for years, so the fact that finally somebody has released a public video on the matter kinda sucks since now people r aware of its capabilities even though i was able to pull this off multiple times whenever i wanted to since i knew how to perform this bug

This glitch is also known as the Worm Hole witch was patched in 1.19.2 but normally replicated by using the essentials mod instade

This mod feels like something you’d read in a creepypasta. It’s so bizarre! Thinking about it, I think it happened to me once when I first tried logging into a parkour server and I fell under the map onto the regular survival map. It kinda freaked me out since I thought i broke something by joining using heavier shaders. I think my game crashed after that too? Idk it’s been like 6+ months since it happened

You can't bring items across servers, for the obvious reason that the items are server side. Many many years ago it was possible, due to items in the inventory being client-sided, but that was switched. The only reason why it worked for you is because you have creative mode on (I presume) and it doesn't really matter how you got the items.

I believe the unpredictability is because of the delay between connecting and cancelling. You may connect less or more, and as such, you get different effects. If someone wants to test it, please do so.

I've had this happen SO many times from as early as 2014. From the sign issue, to the chat of one server appearing on another. I thought it was just a combination of my poor internet and ancient office computer. It's so good to see someone make a video on it years later.

I've used this bug to do an all achievement speedrun in 1 frame a many years ago. For the glitch you just need to hover over a server, double tap enter, cancel, and quickly join a new world before you get connected to the first one.

I experienced something similar all the way back in 2013; the only similar occurance though was that the chat from some random multiplayer server was flooding into my singleplayer world. Quite disturbing ngl

The reason why you were able to "Transfer" items to from SMP to your server, is because you were in creative mode. They would have been ghost items, but since you were in creative it doesn't check for ghost items and lets you place anything your inventory has. Try to do this in survival, it will not work. Also, the glitch did not bypass your servers anti-xray, anti-xray only hides ores it cannot hide tunnels like you were seeing. This video absolutely blows the glitch out of proportion. It simply is just your client being confused and connected to two servers. Yes- you can use it as a cave finder I guess but there are easier ways to do that by glitching into blocks. You cannot transfer items over at all unless you already had creative on a server.

i had the "unable to locate sign" and falling through the world back in like 2015/2016. It was often followed with getting booted off the server, and it always happened on older devices. havent seen it since.

This happened to me way back in 1.14.4, 100% vanilla. Honestly very crazy to know that I didn't think anything of the bug back then, but apparently is hella dangerous lol

If you don't belive, this was a normal exploit in Circumference SMP (Private SMP that have 11 players from every country), I player from Japan named kenehi done it and tries explaining me too but I was unable to understand it. He told that this is also the exploit from which he had made illegal items whithout OP. The server was at season 2, I remember and he was the most stacked player as he got the full diamond under 3 min of the season 2 start. I don't know what he did and how but after watching this video, I have got some idea about that.

I used to use LabyMod on a daily basis years ago. I actually recall this bug happening to me before, specifically between Mineplex and Hypixel because my friends and I were young and stupid and kept switching between the two servers. Such a strange glitch, I'm honestly surprised no one has made a video on it until now. Either way thanks for unlocking a memory I forgot I had

I feel bad for server owners if this bug is found to have any bigger implications. Also though, I would love the chaos it would bring if it did too.

This is like a creepy pasta being stuck in 2 worlds that straight up crazy and sounds so scary

I like how I have to go through hell and high water, fiddling through all sorts of NBT editors, manually transferring over key values, restarting the server and world, going through all that headache, just to transfer from two worlds I own and operate, but then bugs like this exist which, outside of preventative server side software that may block it, allow you to transfer literally any item between servers or singleplayer worlds instantly while retaining all NBT data.

So you've figured out how to be in two worlds at once. Kind of.

The item transfer bug could be because you were in creative mode, and you can give yourself any item in creative mode even without commands. If it works in survival though, that would be gamebreaking. Also, you should really apply for YT rank on Hypixel.

I remember, once I was playing on an SMP. My game was modded, I used my own modpack wich included some quality of life and performance mods. I decided to leave and join Hypixel. I joined a regular round of Murder Mystery, but something like you described at the beginning happened: The time kept changing between day and night, there were constant sounds of noteblocks and the weirdest thing: I could read the chat from the other server. My friends never believed me, thank for making this video.

This happened to me about a year back on Lunar Client. I actually ended up getting watchdog banned on Hypixel from flying in creative mode. I managed to get unbanned because of my footage that I recorded that actually made it onto LegoMaestro's Hypixel Alert. It's great to finally see a video spreading awareness of this bug!

I used to experience the "cannot locate sign" glitch alot, then I would get kicked from the server, usually hypixel.

We messed around with this bug back in 2020, figured out how to replicate it, but weren’t able to find anything gamebreaking. There were multiple methods to do this, but every item brought over from the second server was “ghost”. We use this term to explain stuff that happens to the client, but don’t actually exist on the server. Everything done can be replicated by a simple hacked client however, at least to our experience.

I remember having a glitch like that but on bedrock, I would join the hive and at times (even ingame) I would be stuck in the air, with the camera bugging. Also at times you can also just fall through the floor and if you havent been sent under bedrock so you can respawn, you had to rejoin

The “Unable to locate sign at [coordinates]” thing used to happen to me all the time a couple of years ago when I would play hypixel housing a lot [maybe when the world was having a hard time loading?]. I wonder what it means outside of this exploit.

I’ve had this glitch happen to me a couple of times in vanilla back in the day. Didn’t know it was linked to something like this.

This also works on a Minecraft client called "Essential", but its easier because if another person uses the invite server option on the custom client and you accept that and join another server at the same time

This is really weird I used no mods, and this happened to me once, but it gets weirder when sometimes only a few parts of this would happen like the sign and daynight thing. such a big and crazy bug.

This happend to me which said that “the enemy has scored, protect your pit” and then when I broke any Color of bed, it would announce that that teams bed had been destroyed and the chat was pissed. I did this with skyblock and got a bunch of illegal items.

I'm sure Hausemaster would patch it quickly, but it'd be really funny if people could, for a short time, transfer tons of unobtainable and overpowered items to 2b2t. Would really like to see that in action. (i'mm aware that it seems to only work when you have Creative on the receiving end, but the person in the comment on the bug report stated that survival works, so its possible there's a way.) (Update: Since 2b2t uses Spigot, this likely wont work for it. Then again, you never knowww.)

a similar glitch i was able to do confined within one server is something i called the "vr llama". now this was a long time ago and has probably since been patched, and therefore my memories on how to replicate this are quite fuzzy, but i believe it had something to do with riding a llama within a very confined space, leaving, rejoining, and then shifting off the llama very quickly. if you did it right, on your side you would appear to be off of the llama, but to other observers you would still be riding it. but from your perspective, you could move around, but it was different from how you would regularly move around in minecraft. in this altered state, no one could see where you really were- only you on the llama. you also couldn't take damage, and for the most part, you couldn't interact with your environment (placing blocks, hitting mobs, etc.) i say for the most part because one exception i found was that if you were within the vicinity of the llama you were riding, you could place blocks, break blocks, and even hit players- and to observers, it would appear as if blocks were appearing and/or disappearing in thin air, and as if they were being hit by a ghost. it was truly a cool exploit that was sadly patched in later updates, but you can replicate the exact same effect if you run a repeating command block to teleport you to the same position over and over again- but it requires cheats. im sure you can still achieve this glitch somehow, and maybe it doesnt even have to be a llama- but to me its certain that the criterion required to meet such an exploit has now been made significantly more difficult.

This reminds me of the rumored bug back in alpha popularized by Deadsk1nmask’s “Strange House in Minecraft that I did NOT build” video where a multiplayer world data could be saved over a single player world. Obviously not the same thing, but I'm wondering if the conditions that cause these bugs could be somewhat similar.

Just watching the first minute- this looks insane! I can only imagine what’s possible by being at two places at once!

its a desync and race condition in the netcode, its easily seen in modded networks, where the hub is vanilla, but the servers are different packs, the inventory often desynced, and you could drop items only for them to vanish either to due not having creative, or the server thinking its a malformed packet and binning it. other things that happened alot where jetpacks and baubles allowing flight in the lobby and much more, but i found if you had viaversion and gesyermc in such a setup with waterfall and spigot/paper you could drop modded items, and see them as some vanilla items in a vanilla client that had nbt data attached.

This reminds me of a bug in classic versions where if you join a server in a survival test version, die, and then generate a new world, both the new world and the server world will be there, but the server world will be invisible and hitboxes won't work. You can however see other players. And most importantly, you can place and break blocks in the new world which will be placed and broken in the server world as well. However, the game really likes to crash when you do it.

The transportation of items worked because you were in gamemode on both servers. When you open your creative inventory, the client sends all items, which are in your inventory, to the server. This packet is of course ignored if you're in survival mode

My friend who lives in the middle of the woods and who always has reaper and tabs on google went onto his single player world and still saw the message you are AFK from hypixel on his screen. I didn't think much of this at the time and he just restarted his game but now that I think about it, he may have been experiencing this. This was on a newer version of the game too

It's not actually paper/spigot related, it's due to how minecraft creative mode works. When you pickup an item on server A, your client sends setslot packet (creative mode can create *any* item). Packet is received by server B (actual server you're connected to) and puts it in your inventory *if you are in creative*. If you are in survival, nothing special happens as items exist only visually.

I have actually experienced this bug myself a few years back, though I only ever experienced it once, and it was a connection between my two friends creative worlds, so even if I did know about the transporting items exploit, it wouldn't have mattered.

This happens to me too. When joining 2b2t, I was kicked from the queue and being frustrated, I left to play my hardcore world. Upon joining, I still had the chat and the notification of what position I was in

Something similar happened to me in Bedrock and not Java. I was also able to hit people while being invisible but they couldn't hit me even if they were facing me, so I wreaked a bunch havoc on my friend's LAN server, and they never let me join again.

After reading your ping comment, it's still interesting to read you can "transfert" item if you are in creative mode in the receiving server. This imply you could potentially give yourself illegals items that can perform commands or NBT signs to say, give yourself Op and so on. Imagine you join a random creative build server and you do the glitch and give yourself a sign that give yourself op. Would the NBT sign work or not, this is a good question.

I once had a bug that was similar and would occur every couple of versions, where when I go to play singleplayer it would take a long time to load and then it would say disconnected from the server and open a server list. Then when I would try to open that world again it would load and after 1 minute the fps would go from 100 to like 10 and it would start stuttering going from 10 to 60 fps in 1 sec every second

This has happened to me millions of times, unable to locate signs was literally a thing for me EVERY DAY. Glad someone did some research on it, always has interested me.

I would try and avoid calling these "see through chunks" xray, as xray at least in my book is being able to locate ores which what you've shown still doesn't do. What you are showcasing is basically freecam which can not be prevented through any anti cheats. You can see blocks which are exposed to air but you could do that with xray as well (if using a sophisticated version, not just like a resource pack). Also you can see things such as dungeons or caves as those are literally just air. Just something I wanted to add to at least clear up that confusion :)

something like this happened to me years ago when i was playing on hypixel. i don't remember the name of the mode but it was a batter royal where you were put in a random world to gear up and fight other teams before being sent to the arena towards the end of the match if you were still alive. I was going through a cave with my team and i came across a spot where the chunk didn't load, couldn't walk on any blocks in it and the blocks i placed were invisible. eventually i fell though the world and died in the void. by time i tped back to my team the chunk was reloaded and i could see some of the blocks i placed that wouldn't have been in the terrain. only thing with this one vs the one epic did was i was on vanilla and was already on the server for an extended period

Surprised this has become a video, this use to be an old myth that could happen back in 2010 where you would join a multiplayer server via the singleplayer selection but it was merely a play on acting back then.

This has happened to me before, but instead of it happening on singleplayer, it happened with two different mulyiplayer servers. The block hitboxes didnt carry over so the gameplay was fine but i could only use commands from the server i joined first, but this didnt stop BOTH the chats displaying at once, it even showed the ranks players had without any glitchiness. The tab list showed both as well in the same flickery fashion as the sky. I actually carried items over accidentally so they stayed in my invetory, but once updated they vanished, but this was probably because they used special enchants like sharpness 10

One of the reasons I like Java more then bedrock is actually because of the glitches which add technical complexity to play with. Anyone else agree?

I also had that happen to me a few times on a few servers. It's 7 years ago, but back then, I thought my PC had wrongfully copied the world data of that server into my singleplayer world(yes, it happened to me in a singleplayer world) including command blocks, the chat bar at the right, mobs, all the blocks... everything about it, except for the other players and their chat messages. I can't remember if the world then stayed like this, but I clearly remember this happening to me twice, and both times it happened around the time where all these 1.8x-versions were still new. I remember being angry about it since I potentially might just have lost my world.

Sometimes on the bedrock addition, I will join a server, then go onto my single player world and the servers UI will be on top of my screen, but it goes away pretty quick although I wasn’t able to see through blocks or any of the other glitches that this causes

12:49, if there were a bypass this would be gamebreaking as players would be able to spawn in any ghost items they wanted. The only possible way to convert ghost items to real items is to me in creative mode.

You’re right about the X-ray, I thought it was normal to see through blocks until my friend asked me about it, but when he tried on his account it never worked

Wow! In early 2019 I also got this bug, but it was singleplayer-local... I didnt thought smth about it, coz it was same seed, but time goes crazy

this video makes me sad in a weird way. If it was posted a few years back it certainly would've become some really neat creepypasta shared for years, nowadays it's just a fun fact that will last for like 2 weeks and then be forgotten again

This is easy to reproduce and has happened to me many times when I "cancel" (hint hint) the connection process and quickly switch to another server. It's a client-side bug, thus you can't transfer items unless the server you are playing on has you in Creative Mode. Oh and if you have ping that is too low it won't happen, as the "Connecting to server" stage will last just 10s of milliseconds. You server may hide unexposed ores but that chest was exposed by the non-solid block above it. Unless you use some kind of raytracing anti-xray papers normal anti-xray won't hide that.

I had this bug happen to me a few months ago playing on my private server (can't remember what version, some time around 1.17, using optifne). I joined Hypixel on accident, then cancelled and joined my server and tried to play for a bit. After joining I immediately noticed that I could still read Hypixel chat I asked my friend if he could see me and he said I wasn't connected to my server. My game crashed a few seconds after that and I never looked into the bug after that. Interesting to see other people have had it happen and all the potential uses for this.

This exact issue happened to me, I think I was recording at the time. I even managed to transfer items from hypixel to a much smaller server. Luckily I did not get banned, but it was very weird. I did not use any mods, but my connection was slower than usual.

I've experienced this bug many times before on the vanilla client, I've also had the item transfer thing happen to me accidentally (it just copied the inventory over, not sure how I had it happen) but I owned & had creative mode on the server it happened to me on, It's a very strange bug and seems to let you able to join 2 servers at one time, maybe even more but I've never had it be 3 or more before, It happens to me usually when I click on the wrong server, (and then i guess cancel the connection at a very specific time?) and then choose the correct one, sometimes I connect, then shortly after I connect to the second one

in one old Minecraft bedrock version its was a very common bug and creating a world you insta noclip down, not even flying helped

I had this bug back in 1.13 on a private server i was in with my friends. It was like my game was joining two worlds at the same time and i could reliably recreate this bug by joining a server and then quickly canceling the join and then go to a single player world and I basically got flyhax and noclip on the server

I was one of the few who found how to replicate this glitch on vanilla minecraft. It's so cool because you can fly or tp a few blocks on any server that you want.

Since you are just sending and receiving packets from the wrong servers it's essentially just a less controlled version of what hack clients can do (freecam, movement hacks) and to get items or large tps you just need creative / op on the respective server.

This has happened to me like once or twice lmao, the Sky flickering has happened way more often. Additonally i never used Labymod. It happened on Feather Client and i think once it wasnt 2 servers "connecting" but a server and my single player world

Interesting discovery, this just looks too OP to be true, and i can see how easily it can be exploited. For someone who had played minecraft since 2014 I would have never thought item transfering from server to server would even exist at all. This had made me subscribe since this is amazing.
