Minecraft: EASY Creeper Farm - 1500+ Gunpowder Per Hour! [1.20] 

beats my method of waiting till night time and exploding half my area trying to kill creepers

TIP FOR PLAYERS!! if you build it in the air or over an ocean you get higher drop rates as the mob cap isnt taken up by other mobs. if you build it on land, light up as many caves and the area around you as muhc as possible so only creepers spawn

An update to my previous comment, the farm does still work however I noticed there was a few spiders spawning on various levels. Moved a couple cats, it wasnt a big issue. But in case anyones wondering why they might be getting spiders, The open trapdoors DO COUNT as solid blocks for the spiders to spawn on. That makes the 2 blocks to either side of the chute, and the chute itself, areas for the spiders to spawn. I just placed an additional carpet next to the middle trapdoor on both sides of each level. Been afk for a while and she seems to be working just fine now! Final edit: This fix also bumped up my yield per hour, not by much but by a good few stacks. I'd say im at about 20 stacks an hour now while afk.

Never needed to tame so many cats before, now they get to live their days working in the darkness

I use this design all the time.. add redstone lighting to make it an on/off farm and a hot air balloon is great for an afk spot!!

Just built this in 1.20.6 Java, and it works pretty well! I built this 6 layers high, and at first, I was only getting about 2 stacks an hour. I felt like something was wrong so i looked into my farm and it turned out a couple of the levels in the farm had torches from when i was building it, definitely was stunting the spawns! lol. after I got rid of them though, those 6 layers (12 cats) gave me about 14 stacks in its first hour. I wont say its gunna output 100,000 items an hour or anything, but for my learner single player world, I'm pretty happy with it! Simple, easy to build, and it works. Thanks

does using oak trap doors let light in? i used oak trap doors and even after i put slabs on top of the trap doors there was still somehow still light in the spawn room.

2:44 I will replace 2 bottom glass blocks with slabs so that i can hit the creepers manually as well which gives me xp😊

As you add more layers do you need to go up more on afk platform? Ive lit up caves and have about 7 to 7 layers done right and its rates are meh.

you could just use ladders instead of scaffolding for the people that cant find bamboo

If we increase the layer of the farm then is it necessary to increase the height of the afk farm ?

does the simulation distance affect it?

I've had a problem where sometimes spiders would still spawn... I'm guessing they do right between the carpets and the drop chute, as there is a 3*3 place with no carpets. I've simply placed an extra carpet near the drop chute on either side, otherwise great farm !

The only thing i will add is couldnt you face one of the hoppers into the other and only use one collection chest? Im not great with contraptions in minecraft, better at it irl 😂 great build i like the old school windows pc "your waiting..." hour glass look. Ima try this one though i usually dont mess with hostile mob farms i break them easy...

Only problem I have is light somehow still gets in, bedrock edition. Not sure the best fix

Could you just break the bottom glasses and place a slab so you can get Xp?

Speaking of cats, did you know they can scare off Phantoms besides Creepers?

Tip: Please only mention the NEEDED materials in the list that will make the farm work. (example: ladders, up to people how they want to enter/leave the farm). And for construction blocks such as polished andesite, or stripped spruce log, mention that people can use a block of their choice.

anyone else having troubles? I built three layers afk'd for an hour and zero gunpowder was in the chest

Spent the whole day on this farm cause I was gathering resources only to realize it doesn't work on Bedrock 💀😓

Works in Java 1.20.4 pretty well. I build 2 floor like in video and in 10 min 2&1/2 stake gunpowder was there

i tried to place water on a slab i got cooked and now i have depression.

Creepers aren’t falling down into the water in my farm. Idk what to do to fix it as I’ve built it exactly how shown on here. Also spiders seem to be able to spawn when I have defo done the carpets right so I’m hella confused

Can you build it underground?

Instead of scaffolding you can use water elevator with soul sand. It's much faster

issues is on a realm it wont work with others nearby and really doesnt produce all that much

For Java it’s definitely not 1500 an hour. MAYBE 200 an hour at the most

Why not use a nether portal to get them out faster thus increasing the spawnrate
