I've seen a fad of people taking jabs at copper and amethyst, treating mojang like they're stupid for not adding five trillion crafting recipes for it. Firstly, it's a gross attitude to have, secondly, they can always add new crafting recipes and things to do with it. That's kind of the point of updates. Thirdly, copper, bamboo and cherry in particular have been phenomenal updates specifically for the modding community. Now I don't have seven types of copper every time I want to use ten mods and biome mods can either ignore the cherry Grove or revamp it instead of, again, having like three different cherry biomes. It has actually decreased bloat tremendously when playing with mods! Pretty much the only other thing I would want them to add like that is rope. They've done an amazing job at fulfilling the needs of their player base AND the modding community, which I don't see pretty much ever, especially in non-indie games.

Honestly... The Minecraft Community is spoiled. Genuinely. - The game itself only costs around $30, while the industry standard is $60 to $70 (sometimes even higher) and provides endless hours of enjoyment. - We get COMPLETELY FREE annual content updates with no strings attached, and no paywall. - Full customizability for the game, able to use data packs or mods to easily freshen up the experience (unlike many franchises, which keep a strangle-hold on their IP and threaten lawsuits against people who dare alter them). - The game is playable on most platforms. There is no console or "Apple Arcade" exclusives. You can play it on any computer, phone, or device. - The best april fools updates any game has ever had, once again for FREE. But when they make new updates, the community has the nerve to say its not good enough. When confronted with the mob vote, the community says "GIVE US ALL THREE!!!" Its like a bratty child getting offered a choice between three chocolate bars, and then getting upset when they can't have all of them. How is it unfair to say NO? It just reeks of entitlement.
@theConcernedWyvern
@theConcernedWyvern Месяц назад
Absolutely. It's horrible the way the community treats them and I'm not sure I even want to call it a community. I don't know if it's because Minecraft has so many kids in their player base or so many 30 year Olds with a nostalgia addiction, but people act like every new update is horrible. I don't like to use the word entitled but this is one of the few instances in which it fits perfectly. The only way I can see Mojang having the best of both worlds is some kind of configurability menu or file so people can have bug fixes and pick which features they want at the same time. I just hope they don't listen to the whiners and it doesn't scare them away from genuine, helpful feedback.

Are you kidding me? Microsoft is the biggest company in the entire world, of all TIME. They can spare to add 3 mobs and polish their updates, they’ve already ruined the bedrock modding scene and won’t add what the players actually ask for, just random blocks and mobs that they cancel and provide no value for adventure or any useful feature in the game There’s something called “fan service”, and none of these big companies have that. The point of entertaining your players Is to entertain your players??? There’s no such thing as “entitlement” in gaming, it’s not like the companies are your parents or are raising you, they give you a service and a reason to pay for their game, their service, and you pay for what you were shown. Microsoft hasn’t kept up with the promises and is doing the opposite of what the players want When they get criticism, 9 times out of ten they ignore it. Nothing on the devs, I feel bad for them because they work for Microsoft, it’s on the higher-up’s.

@@lordcaprisunthe2nd Microsoft has a decent influence on what Minecraft adds making sure it doesn’t stray away to much, meaning many ideas don’t make it and many Minecraft features can’t be too game changing as so Minecraft doesn’t stray away from what made it successful (basically the average company playing it safe move) But take this with a grain of salt as it’s mainly just educated guesses, but nonetheless, there is a lot of thought put in the features that are added in Minecraft, even the tuff block which you may think of as super easy to make (make a tuff looking brick texture on the blocks and you’re done) have thought put into them, they have a unique chiseled design that is supposed to fit in well with the trial chambers. Even in the least expected places, the Minecraft devs (mojang) have to make a concept, check for approval from mincrosoft, the [TAKE TIME] to add the feature. Please be considerate in how it takes time to develop features in a game (also the game costs below half the average video game price and you get yearly content that’s free no strings attached, stop being spoiled and play another game if you don’t like Minecraft) EDIT: but it is shitty gatekeeping that Microsoft destroyed the bedrock modding scene

The biggest problem I have with Minecraft is how people severely overlook the work it takes to develop for the biggest game of all time. The pressure alone is enough to drive anyone mad. I can only imagine how much worse it is when they have dorks calling them lazy. None of us will ever know the pressure of being a Mojang Developer. also on a separate comment, oh my GOD am i glad someone else really gets behind the newer soundtracks so much, the atmosphere in it is incredibly well-done and the Nether soundtrack is still one of my favorite ambient tracks to this day. (i do also think it's suspicious that Lena Raine _specifically_ gets the majority of the critique for her music being "not fitting to vanilla" when there are multiple composers on the soundtrack -- i'm just saying, i see a _lot_ more people complaining about her than about Aaron Cherof, and that's... i don't know. squints. odd.) anyway, Creator is for sure one of my favorite music discs, and any instance of Raine's music in the game is an _absolute_ treat. honestly, i'm hoping we get more Deep Dark tracks from her somewhere down the line, because Ancestry is _gorgeous_ and i want more.

What I love about Minecraft is that it is a game that never seems to truly be complete. Each update improves upon the last, making the game better and better over time. I definitely think the mob votes are interesting but I don’t know why they couldn’t implement all 3. It would be a lot cooler to have the vote be which mob to add first then stagger the other 2 out over the year between major updates. Let’s be honest with ourselves adding an armadillo, a penguin and a crab over the course of even a month would be extremely doable for a small team.

@MagmaForce_
@MagmaForce_ Месяц назад
In my opinion, the updates add a lot of things for nothing, it's either inconsistent with the rest of the game to make the thing in question more original (which just ends up failing) or incomplete like copper and amethyst (seriously the only recipe in which copper and amethyst makes sense are the lightning rod and the spyglass (but only for copper), talking of them, they don't have a true identity like iron is for machines or lapis is magical. They add so much half done stuff which doesn't even get elaborated further in the newer updates (like amethyst, the deep dark, cave biomes or archaeology) that I feel just bad seeing all this wasted potential, also, old ideas almost never get a rework or get expanded upon. They also have all these new 🌟standards 🌟that rarely makes sense and often contradicts the original game, like it's trying to hide its older, sillier, less restricted design approach, for example, I can understand why endangered species and pets do not drop anything, but goats ? It doesn't even make sense when sheeps, cows and pigs do drop something, heck, bunnies have 3 different drops, 1 being used for magic, but frogs have none ???? I know I can just play my beloved 1.16.5 (which isn't perfect by the way I see flaws but they are generally minor) and call it a day, but it just sucks to see all this wasted potential in the ideas and the time and effort for the developers. Talking about devs and programming, I'm learning java just to make my alternate reality mod on 1.16.5 like many people did for betas, there's also plenty of mod categories, when people are comparing modern Minecraft with its mods, it's not always about if the content could be added to the game (because of course a mod like GregTech wouldn't be added to the game), but, at lest for me, it's on the perspective, some modders seem to put more care, love and effort into making their mods than Mojang does into making updates, no matter the genre. I've also seen heavy tech mods having a better design for its resources and mechanics than Mojang can make, being more consistent with the rest of the game. Also, hot take but I personally think Minecraft on PC and on consoles and phones were better when they were separate versions, as it removes a lot of the freedom the devs would might have used (with keybinds for example), 4J understood that with legacy edition, and didn't try to do exactly like the PC version and decided to go on a different path with the mini-games. On another note, how exactly can having more options and freedom hurt creativity ? Why couldn't there be a block palette as complete as deepslate's for the other types of rock, yes even granite ? Why couldn't there be iron or gold decorative blocks like copper does ? Now let's talk about the spicy stuff : the music (note that I haven't listened to 1.21's soundtrack because I don't want to get spoiled), the new music feels very generic, it can be resumed to piano solos and empty space (I'm also not saying there can't be pauses and piano in music), there's no real Minecraft charm in it, I'm not saying that the music is bad, but that it's not appropriate for Minecraft, at least not with the older music. Listen to volume alpha and its instruments and chords, it feels varied, charming, it puts you at ease and gives you a feeling of comfort, listen to volume beta and its progression, everything has a reason to be in the song, I also like the versatility of the music, since it's separated in Creative, Survival, Main Menu, Ocean, Nether and the End, the modern Minecraft music is now also biome specific, which removes a lot of the charm and originality the old Minecraft soundtrack had, the only exception my disliking of the new soundtrack is the nether update's soundtrack, it really felt in place with the old nether soundtrack and with the game in general, I couldn't tell it wasn't C418 who did it. Finally, I'd like to argue about music discs but my opinion that new music discs doesn't feel the same (yes, Pigstep included) as the old music discs is mostly based on the feeling the discs give. To finish this, I'll say that I'm not saying that every haters are right, but that all the arguments mentioned in the video have valid reasons to be brought up, it's a shame you're stuck on a simple hater's point of view of the opinion which makes you think it's undeserved. There's some people that genuinely think that with actual arguments like me that just want the best for this game. Thank you for having read through all of this, sorry for my potentially bad English at times, it's late night and I'm not a native speaker, and I hope you understood my point of view. Anyways thank you for coming to my TedTalk

I really don't see the new features as half baked. Caves and cliffs is probably the best update ever released, making caving go from a complete chore to something fun. Ancient cities are one of the best structures in the entire game. Trial chambers aren't a huge part of the game, but they hold an insane amount of features for just a structure. Some items may be less useful, but that just seems like not seeing the forest for the trees. And on your argument of all stone having deepslate variants and etc, limitations make building fun, and gives each block variety. Copper gets more variations as it's mainly a building block, whereas iron and gold are valuable resources. Even old minecraft had "half baked" features. You talked about lapis being "magical", when the only "magical" aspect is that it's used in enchanting tables (and didn't even get that use for the longest time), and then you talk about amethyst, which certainly has that 'magical' identity. Gold was practically worthless until 1.16. And since you brought up copper, what about quartz? Quartz is similar to copper - mainly a building block. Yet it has FAR fewer variants than copper. If you're going to ask why deepslate has variants yet andesite doesn't (even though deepslate is a newer feature thus this is less of a complaint and more of a good thing???) you have to ask why we have coloured wool, and not coloured logs. Why we have a ton of wood recipes, but not dirt recipes. The same answer is why copper slabs exist, and not gold slabs. And hiding siller aspects? Frogs eat magma cubes to create froglights. Goats can be used for horns (which are just ridiculously fun to play with in multiplayer).

THANK YOU SO MUCH! I am so sick and tired of this attitude as someone who has played minecraft since, if I remember right, before 1.8. I love game design and I love Minecraft as a game. I've also been a big fan of various indie or small game scenes and let me tell you that Mojang is not lazy. I've seen broken promises, games frozen in early access, greedy devs, even been ripped off a couple times before I knew better. Mojang has done everything in their power to give the community an amazing game with fast updates and it is absolutely digusting to see people shredding into them like spoiled brats. There are certainly some things I want to see changed and mechanics I want to have added. I critique the game like I do any other, but you know what I don't do? Whine and cry about every tiny thing Mojang does. They have made a phenomenal game even better with each update and if people don't like it, Minecraft has the biggest, fastest updating modding scene on the planet. If people don't like the new updates, they can play on 1.8 or 1.12 which already have tons of backports of any features they could want and mods to do pretty much anything. Also, controversial opinion, I don't personally like C418's music. I love the stuff Lena Raine has made and her music got me to turn on ambient music for the first time ever in years of playing this game. Change isn't necessarily a bad thing and, if you really hate it, there's a mod to fix it. I don't play vanilla Minecraft (I call my mod packs "vanilla adjacent") because I also have things i feel are necessary which haven't been added, but i understand that mojang has more to contend with than my personal preferences. I do wish they added all the mobs from the mob vote personally, partly because I love the ideas but also because of the pure animosity around the whole thing. I honestly think one of the reasons mojang hasn't changed as much as they could is because the community cries at every tiny thing they do. Dont even get me started on caves and cliffs. I saw someone complaining that "all we got for caves and cliffs part two was a terrain update." Updating terrain and ESPECIALLY smoothing it between new and old chunks is a colossal difference! It is so frustrating to watch arguably one of the best game companies of all time be dragged through the mud by their own community because they have no idea how much time and effort this essentially free content takes. If people genuinely want minecraft to be the best it can, they need to quit crying. Final note: I'm not saying dont critique. Whining and critique are two very different things. As I said earlier, I love game design and critiquing games. Mojang is never going to be able to listen to that critique though, if it's drowned out by needless hate

But you might be asking, what toxicity are you talking about? You see, ever since the Wild Update came out in 2022, this community has been spreading some toxic fumes to the point where being in this community is legitimately insufferable at times. I don't think I have to bring up the examples. Because I'm tired of bringing it up, and everyone has said already. So why bring it up when everyone knows it. As a 2011 player myself, I think negative fans on social media in this community, is honestly making this game worse and worse. It's just a constant cycle of hell of drama, controversy and despair. Am I exaggerating here? No. Absolutely not. All the things I'm saying here is true. And I don't know why it's happening. I don't get it. Because back during the Golden era of Minecraft's popularity through 2011-2015, everyone at that time was happy. The updates weren't being mainstreamed, there wasn't much controversy or drama and everyone was happy playing Minecraft and seeing RU-vid videos from their favorite RU-vidr at the time. I don't get why it's the Golden Era that got peace and less controversy + drama. Maybe it's because of the new fans that Minecraft's sudden popularity came from. Maybe it's how mainstreamed Minecraft is these days. Or maybe it's something else. I don't know. And I think I will never know. But hey, other then what I said in this comment, this video is right. Happy Birthday Minecraft. Lets have another 15 years as a strong community as one. Thank you for listing, now I'm going to go and continue building my Nether Hub now.😊💚

If only there were ways to go back to specific versions in Bedrock, maybe Add-ons would be able to thrive. I love bedrock but playing marketplace maps that break as soon as we get a couple patch updates away its a bad look. Diving head first into modded Java this year has helped me to understand this. I still like to have the latest stuff, but now I get it. Unrelated: c418 is good and all, but Lena Raine's tracks are 🔥🔥.

Most fanboys don't realize how hard it is to make large scale games and movies. When it comes to a game like Minecraft that has gotten increasingly more complex, you need to work much harder to keep it running and it isn't easy. Yes people nowadays can learn how to make their own game and sell it for five or ten dollars but that's not the same as an entire team of 200 or so computer programmers in a hot studio working 24 hours a day to make a game sold to millions of players.

I personally have a lot of negative views on Mojang, and In my opinion prefer better minecraft mod packs (no not the modpack "better minecraft" but as a genre for example better adventures+ by Flowstate) are better than vanilla, I also prefer the works of C418, but I still love vanilla minecraft. Its still the same simple block game I fell in love with, and always will be. And I will continue to love Mojang and Notch for the beautiful game that all of us had fallen in love with.

You are confusing the mojang that made our memories with the mojang that turned them into a money printer. These are two very diffrent mojangs

that mojang is optional, for bedrock, for those who want to add mods without being a techy - yes you heard that right you could offload mods from websites for free, i did it myself

Mojang that made our memories is the same mojang today, it just got touched by microsoft at the time of the pandemic and everything went downhill for a while before mojang realized it needed to stay away from microsoft's greedy grabby hands

@MrBrineplays_ yup. Becouse I don't think that mojang is returning to its roots. They are doing the same thing they were 5 years ago. They can't "realise" that Microsoft is controlling them becouse that is what gives them money

@@AlUnesco. sure but at this point its just beating a dead horse. The general minecrsft community doesnt matter, you dont need to be involved in everything, you dont need to watch shit youtubers you dont need to play on shit servers. So why complain, when you can simply not interact with the things you dont like.

Why should people avoid multiplayer when they can try to make it better?
