Honestly I wouldn't hate this change if it weren't for the fact that transporting villagers is such a time consuming thing. I think making the ai for villagers better or making an item that could lead them easier would be nice

Agreed, even only if they make it so villagers follow you if you're holding an emerald, it would be better than what we have to transport them now

I agree, but also another reason I don’t like this change is that if you want to get a jungle or swamp villager (especially swamp villager considering they are the only consistent way of getting mending) you have to first find the biome, witch sometimes can be difficult, then you have to wait a loooooooong time to find a zombie villager to cure it, and the whole presses is incredibly tedious and annoying and completely on random chance.

@@paxdamaxgaming4920 100% agree, I can def see why they're trying to change the system since tbf, it is really op, but like you said having to find a zombie villager in a swamp or jungle would be torture on any mode besides hard. Another idea I thought of is if they added a biome compass or something similar, like how the eye of ender leads to a strong hold, or the compass points to your bed (world spawn?). Either way, I've seen a few people suggest making it more likely for a specific enchant to appear in one biome but worse in another, which I think would be the most common ground we could get if the trade update has to happen lol

The main issue is that, since swamp villages don't exist, you need to: 1. Find a swamp 2. Find a village 3. Bring two stupid npcs that refuse to follow you in any way to that swamp 4. Have them breed Since Minecraft is randomly generated, this can make it REALLY hard to find a specific biome or structure needed for processes like this. Completely locking a nearly necessary enchantment for long term playthroughs behind luck and hard to transport mobs is a really annoying thing to deal with

I think mojang also needs to remember not everyone enjoys exploration and rather get max tools so they can gather resources quicker to do large builds, group projects etc. This could make players who enjoy different aspects of the game have a worse experience.

The problem is that some want survival to be actually challenging while others only want a chill survival so they earn materials to build houses. I don’t understand why mojang doesn’t just create a new mode that is actually about just survival so everyone wins.

It's not hard playing 10 mins and getting mending just isn't a good thing for an enchant that good. With the changes it takes like 1hour. which is still rly easy

minecraft is a game you can play how you want so if you want it more challenging then limit yourself. Run a hardcore world and make it so you can only use iron armor or any other thing you can think of to make it difficult. The variety is there, taking some of that away does no good@@BuzzingMeat

The issue with the enchants for me comes from the “too expensive” mechanic. Boots are the best example. In order to get maxed out enchanted boots you need to put all the enchantments on in a very specific and certain order so the game lets you. Issue is that that requires you to have all the maxed out books in the first place. They CANNOT BE COMBINED INTO A MAX BOOK. When a book is combined to get a higher level version (for example efficiency 3 + efficiency 3 = efficiency 4) it UPS THE LEVEL COST making it so that there is now no physically possible way to get maxed out boots. I think same goes for leggings. Tools should be fine other than in some cases the sword or bow. Unless they change the “too expensive” mechanic to allow this, I don’t know if I’ll have much fun with this change.

I think this change is more of an inconvenience then a rebalance. Most players are now only going to build in swamp biomes now because of the change since you can get mending there and the other good trades are able to be obtained through an enchantment table. This change is meant to "encourage exploration" and to "balance the game" but all it does is make it more annoying, not hard, just tedious (Villagers already were tedious to begin with). This is also just forcing you to explore than encouraging it, just like the netherite upgrade. Things such as an ancient city, trail ruins and bastions before the 1.20 update are what me need for exploration. Forcing changes like that which impact quality of life then making the process actually balanced and exploration based isn't what Minecraft needs. Until Mojang realizes that, we will just keep having everything nerfed and made more tedious until we just decide to move onto another game. EDIT: For the players who say it's for lore, OPTIONAL lore shouldn't have to impact an already existing feature, that makes the game more pestering and tedious, easily could have made it so the books were more common in those biome villagers instead of it being fully exclusive

That's right, they only make it more annoying, soon I won't be able to break the speedrun record. What was it 7 min? I don't know anymore. Meanwhile Minecraft is just a sandbox game that you can finish within 1. hour with all the enchantments etc., why should I still play the survival mode? To build? I'll go into Creative and Build something. To play with friends? With whom it gets boring after some time and you think about how to modify the game either with mods, servers, gamemodes, roleplay, World Rules etc.. Many will disagree with me, but the base game is absolutely boring, when I started at the release of the game I was impressed because I can let my creativity run free but I have already done everything. And in the last 2 years I have played through the game up to 5 times with Full Netherite, all Enchanments, Elytra and Buildings. At the end the same thing everytime with thier Boring updates and all those easy accessible materials which you'll have in less then a Day. What I want to say is that the changes may make the game annoying for many, but, I play the survival mode to build a beautiful world and those who do not like it, can use mods or plugins (Unlucky for Bedrock) to change it for them as they like. Because just like with the hitdelay update, many will see the trading update as a good change in a few months or even years. PS: I will not respond back, because I do not feel like writing such a text again.

(And the sarcasm was a cute, childish touch, btw) Even with this villager change to "make the game longer" people will still beat it very quick, I am not trying arguing against it for the purpose of wanting the game to be quick, I want it to be enjoyable. The reason this change sucks isn't because it makes it too long for me, it's because it forces players to have to put much more effort into projects and makes after game play suck, I will confess that I speedrun villagers but I don't need them to beat the game. They are there for quality of life, not for necessity. Villagers aren't required to beat the game like you're saying. Villagers are for after you beat the game, to make big building projects easier (Yeah, not everyone needs creative mode to build something) If you need villagers trades and full prot 4 to beat the game then I am sorry for you. I use that stuff to make it easier to gather and build stuff after I beat the game, this makes playing the game after you beat it suck

to be honest I never really use enchanted books in my playthroughs they really aren’t that necessary, and if you can literally use mending to fly forever and have the same busted tools and armors for the entire game id say that shouldn’t be achievable second one of getting into a game that’s my take anyway im sure it’s different for different play styles

@@daniel8599 as you have stated, minecraft is a sandbox game, if you are not familiar with the genre, it's a genre of games in which the developers allow you to do what ever you want, build, explore, fight, anything, you can't really 'beat' a sandbox game, killing the ender dragon is considered beating it but if you play minecraft for just beating the game it might not be for you, if you are searching for meaning in a meaningless world, you'll just end up disappointed

I think to make everyone happy, make it so you can get any book from any villager but increase the chances of getting a certain book if you re roll on a villager in a certain biome. So make it that there’s like a 0.5% chance to get a villager with mending in a desert but a 30% chance to get one in a swamp. Would be a much better update if that happened

There's a good chance that u spawn plain biome that has a village and close to swamp then u could just breed a villager to have a villager swamp. Well on my opinion this is better cause this hack is way too op and increasingly makes it easier. This update is supposed to stop this kind of hacks from happening cause it's too op like literal too op. For me this is a good update to stop this overpowered villagers to literally just skipping the whole game for us cause their trade are way too op.

That’s not a bad idea actually. Make it harder but still easier for those who doesn’t like exploring. For me I just like to have fun in Minecraft so I don’t really exactly like this update but I can see why they did this change.

i think this update would be really good if they added the new villages. like treetop jungle villages, raised swamp villages. maybe make more structures in each village and instead of really just changing the wood type, make each village be unique to each biome. edit: i think another way mojang could increase the motivation to explore would be to add new rideable creatures and add more structures to the game instead of the same ones we have had for years

the problem with this is how the pillager's AI works, due to the blocking vegetation of jungles and the many ponds in swamps, the pillagers cant properly walk around them, I think this is one of the reasons why Mojang won't add the jungle and swamp villages because yes they can be cool but how the hell would a raid even work in such a biome (this "how the raid would even work" problem would get even worse if your idea of treetop jungle villages were implemented though this is just my opinion)

Pillager AI is the reason they won't add those But with the 1.18 terrain change Sparse Jungle might be the best location for Jungle Villages to spawn in because of wide landfield and not much vegetation that will interrupt with Pillager AI For the swamp one, I have no idea... Maybe add a version of swamp that the pillagers can easily work on

Although removing it from villagers does encourage exploration, I have rarely come across any special books as loot. Given the fact that it already takes hours to just find these structures in the first place with a small chances for these books to appear as loot, these enchantments are pretty much gone now, especially if your a new/intermediate player.

I think that the whole having villagers in different biomes is a great idea(although they need a swamp village and a jungle village) and the zombification edits are also great. But if they should keep the trident enchantments and have the books still be at the maximum level or REMOVE the exp cap on anvils. The reason is that this update is going to kill the interest of a lot of people; I'm 90% sure half of the community won't play without god armor(I know I wouldn't) because it's so tedious than to gather resources to build more extensive projects. And honestly, the devs shouldn't be forcing a playstyle of extreme difficulty on everyone. If someone wants to play that way, that's their choice. As it stands, survival megaprojects in future worlds are just gonna die out because no one will have the standard Efficiency 5 pickaxe and armor to be able to dig up deserts or mountains for their bases. This is what will kill Minecraft. I genuinely hope it does not come to that.

That's true, when he said its too easy I was like.... No it fucking isn't! Enchantments are just a means to a more relaxing experience not a way for us to explore. In hard difficulty its already extremely hard to explore because of the fact that if you die, you'll spawn at your original base. I'm for sure not playing Minecraft on this new update unless I am some tense seeking hardcore gamer. I use Minecraft to relax at the end of the day.

Ok, here's a take from someone (me) who absolutely hates this with a burning passion... I know some people think villagers are too op, but honestly, villagers being good was what balanced everything else being bad. For example, I've been playing minecraft for close to 10 years, and I've tried every method of getting enchanted books, and here's what I've found out. With fishing, it takes around 20-25+ hours to get fully enchanted gear(which equates to about 2-3 weeks of grinding every day). On the enchanting table, it's about 15-20 hours of grinding depending on luck and how good of an xp farm you have. But, with villagers, it's about 5-10 hours, which is STILL a lot, but much better. With this new update, it could take upwards of 20 hours to use villagers because it requires searching thousands of blocks, breeding, and transporting villagers thousands of blocks, grinding xp to combine the now mediocre books they sell, and possibly not even being able to enchant your armor after all that because of the horrible anvil mechanics that say it's "too expensive." Imo, minecraft is transitioning from a fun game of exploration and building to a game of endless grinding with minimal rewards. Minecraft was my favorite game throughout my entire childhood, and I've put well over 1000 hours into it. But with this update, I may never play the game again...

I personally am not the biggest fan, as i enjoy minecraft being something easy and relaxing, instead of tedious and annoying. it really feels like nowadays minecraft is trying to add updates to please the hardcore players who have gotten so good at the game that it feels easy, and forgetting/not really caring about the more chill players who aren't really looking for a challenge.

Agree. I’m one of those chill players. I’m a little sad about this update. I’m not really into grinding. Like actually I never gotten the Nethernite armor because I don’t see the point in getting it. Just seem too difficult. I like my diamond armor with mending. And some protection. That’s it.

Even for the hardcore players this is a terrible idea. This isn't fixing the issue at all, just making something tedious like the netherite upgrade. Its sad that Mojang's approach to fix a problem isn't actually fixing it, just making a small change to make it tedious and annoying and claim its fixed.

yeah but this update isn't a challenge, it's a minmax patch. The game isn't made harder, it's just trying to make things like mending feel more special. You used to have to actually work for resources, mining was, as the name might suggest, an integral part of the gameplay, but before this patch, you just sit in menus for an hour or two and get end-game level loot. And it's not like Villagers are completely sub-optimal now, weaponsmiths and armourers can still give you diamond gear really easily. If you want to play a game where you just look at interfaces and occasionally walk around, get factorio. If you want to play a game where you just sit and click buttons while relaxing noises play, get Stardew Valley.

@@mechacrane2262 This doesn't change anything. You can still get mending basically the same way, you just now have to wait a little longer and go to a swamp biome. Making it a challenge and actually fixing it would be removing mending all together from villager trades and making it only obtainable through structure loot.

I think having villigers trade different things based on what biome they're in is a good thing, I don't totally hate the fact that max level trades are removed, but I think they should trade for all the books they do now, and mojang definitely need to improve Villager AI because this change is going to be a nightmare without it. It primarily just makes everything 100x more tedious and boring.

Main issue is that people who want to actually get good enchants on stuff would then have to try their luck at enchantment tables like 90 times to just get a CHANCE of the enchants they want, If they fixxed the mechanic of anvils being "Too expensive" Everyone would be FINE, Theres several ways of fixing this, Disabling enchants together similar to how swords are with bane of anth, smite and sharpness, But they choose to keep a nearly 10 year old mechanic that noone perticularly likes having it ramp up and have several counters to it but its extremely niche like putting enchantments in a specific order

I personally think if they wanted people to stop trading for enchants they should just rework the enchantment table (which I assume is the intended main way for enchants) and anvils. If those were more reliable then people would rather deal with that rather than villagers (which are a pain to deal with even before these trading changes). Ofc they'll need to balance it out with more cost of resources or something but Im fine with that as long as its not tedious compared to the villager trading (before/after these changes)

Maybe they could make a magic book that lets you choose what enchantment you want in an enchanting table (to balance it they would make the enchantments you can get from the book random but make the book indestructible or something)

The whole library trades are annoying, because now if you want mending, you have to get a swamp villager, which is kinda hard. But it does make sense for the change. The wandering trader change though is a huge win. Now people actually will trade with him.

I think they are doing this for the Lore and explorstion. It makes sense how certain enchanted books are more needed in a biome. For instance, infinity in the desert since there are no trees for sticks (except dead bushes) and chickens for feathers. Depth strider in the swamp, frost walker in the snow, etc. Tho I can see how hard this maybe for people making megabases and the arduous task of building trading halls in every biome.

Yeh I like how they are splitting them up per villager and making them fit with the theme of the village. You don’t even need to create villager halls in every biome. If I remember correctly if you breed 2 different types of villagers together you have a chance of it inheriting the parents villager type or depending on biome it’s in. So it could be possible to just bring one of each type together and then breed them all together so you get a variety of villagers. You would probably get quite a lot more of the biome you are located in but probably make it workout so you get the ones you want

I would be a lot happier if the changes weren't biome specific and level limiting (for example efficiency 3 instead of efficiency 5 only in deserts). If they made books like mending, protection, sharpness and all the other more valuable ones exclusive to master villagers instead of biome specific villagers, the changes would be less OP and still liked by players.

They really need to add swamp and jungle villages, or even just a building that generates in those biomes with a villager inside. That way, players can actually find out that those villager types exist

I feel like this would cause a lot of complications in vanilla Skyblock though, as I currently play on a vanilla based server and obtaining enchanted books from villagers is essential to progression.

if they do implement this, then hopefully they'll finally add the Swamp and Jungle village, then maybe making it possible to find other villages via maps so you have an idea of how to obtain the books needed

You should be able to make villagers a companion by trading with them or curing them so there could be a button you click on for them to follow you. Makes transporting villagers a lot more easier and solves the swamp and jungle problem. It will still probably take a long time though.

Something I’ve learned that makes moving villagers a bit easier is that you can place down a workbench(the workbench that the villager uses if you’ve traded with it already) and it will link up with it and go up to it. Then you can destroy the workbench and place it another 10 blocks away. If the villager does not have a profession this will work with any workbench just make sure you don’t trade with it.

i’m seeing a lot of people in the comments agree with this change, but personally, i just think it’s frustrating and unnecessary. first they make netherite harder to get, and now they’re going to make enchantments harder to get too? they’ve barely changed enchanting for years, and now all of a sudden they want to make it harder? i’m personally really disappointed. even with the old system, it still took me a long time to get all the enchantments i wanted, because cycling the books with the lectern was purely random. sure, it might’ve been a little too simple, but the element of randomness still made it difficult at times. what the hell mojang

I feel like it's a good idea to make it so that you can't get overpowered super easily. But I think instead of exploring and literally making your own villages (which could take a very long time) They should just make it to where you can only get the good enchants like mending if you fully level up the villager to master.

I agree! I think the only necessary change they made here was making it so that the last trade at a master level has a chance of getting mending. It's still tedious, but it won't HAVE to change the way you play the game (building a base strictly in a jungle, transporting villagers thousands of blocks extra, etc.)

yes on you get better loot the more you level up each villager sure but no on giving the overpowered loot in their loot tables like mending. it will still make it too easy and u only need like 2hrs tops to get one villager to master to have a infinate amount to buy from them each time they refresh. it makes the whole point of it useless and still just as easy to do but with a bit longer time. if anything, it should endorse and force players to actually do something and go explore rather than exploit the game mechanics to skip progression and making it 0 risk high reward. games like fps shooters and games like minecraft need to always have the high risk high reward as a mechanic. if not, exploitation takes over and people begin to ruin the game make it unfair for others and make it boring and more toxic. its literally in the name as well. mine craft. u mine and you craft meaning you progress through exploring expanding and building to survive and progress than sit in 1 spot and get endless loot for free without any form of push to prevent this. the people who whine that it shouldnt be a thing are most definately the same people who exploit the game mechanics cry wolf and want everything their way and to make it easy. the main reason why MW II's DMZ mode nearly went downhill instantly was because they updated the game listening to the kids who cried wolf that they got killed too many times in an fps pvp pve oriented mode which is a core mechanic in the game people can freely use. it was removed after a few days because decent players outspoken the ppl who cried wolf and said that it shouldnt by any right restrict players who do well in their game by simply playing the game and being good at it and better than others.

At the end when he's talking about them changing the anvils, I think that would be a great thing to change. My friend and I started a survival server together recently and we got a villager with Mending and Unbreaking 1. I cured that villager which made it super easy to get Mending and Unbreaking 1 for 1 emerald each. The issue with that is, we had to combine 4 unbreaking books to make unbreaking 3. Because of this my friend had to re-enchant his sword 4 times from it being too expensive costing him hundreds of emeralds and exp. So, Mojang should really change the way the anvil works.

you know what's cool about this? there is a chance that a world can generate without a specific biome, or you need to go for a long long way from the spawn to find a specific biome. so... basicaly some people have a slight chance to not even getting a mending villager from their world...

I feel like it would be nice IF the jungle and swamp villagers spawned naturally. Imagine bringing 2 villagers (worst mob to transport in the game) ALL the way to a swamp and having them breed just for mending, THEN having to level it up all the way. Getting mending could take at least an hour with mediocre luck. Also,Dan, the savanna villager has curse of binding 🤦🏼‍♀️

I think a good way to make this less tedious is to keep the enchantments as they are, but whenever you trade for that book you would unlock a way to give that trade to any librarian. This way, you don't have the hassle of transporting villagers for the most part, and still encourages exploring. Also, for mending, this makes it harder than the other ones since you still have to transport them a bit but it will still be easier as you only take the villagers for 1 trip.

personally, I believe the change for villagers is terrible, as yes its purpose is meant for exploration but it means that u must get really lucky to be able to find a swamp nearby just for mending, I believe having librarians is a very essential part for progressing in the game but if ur gonna have to make me go all the way across the world to get my mending book and back because of this update is gonna be pretty difficult and just makes thing even more complicated.Having to get my mending book in the swamp and then find a snow biome to get silk touch is horrible.Its already pretty difficult to level up villagers but on top of that I have to them in different biomes too ? It's not likely for them to spawn next to each other let alone at least even close. Its a terrible change and I hope they take it back.

There kinda is. When you trade with a villager, they come closer to you. If you keep doing this, they'll follow you. They also go to their workstation, so you can put it where you want them to go. There's also minecarts and boats.

My main issue with this is that people would not be able to max out their armor unless they put an insane amount of time into the game by having to go to each biome and not only hope theres a village but if there’s not having to take villagers to those areas an that is a whole other issue

See I’m not even worried about that. The issue with the armor for me comes from the “too expensive” mechanic. Boots are the best example. In order to get maxed out enchanted boots you need to put all the enchantments on in a very specific and certain order so the game lets you. Issue is that that requires you to have all the maxed out books in the first place. They CANNOT BE COMBINED INTO A MAX BOOK. When a book is combined to get a higher level version (for example efficiency 3 + efficiency 3 = efficiency 4) it UPS THE LEVEL COST making it so that there is now no physically possible way to get maxed out boots. I think same goes for leggings. Tools should be fine other than in some cases the sword or bow. Unless they change the “too expensive” mechanic to allow this, I don’t know if I’ll have much fun with this change.

You can enchant books in an enchantment table and get almost any enchant you need (-mending). It just takes a lot of xp.

7:00 yeah that’s the one thing I don’t like about this update, the fact that there is a limit of how many enchantments you can do in the place before the update, you need to find cheeky ways to put all enchantments on your armor. I really hope they remove that in order to balance things out, in which this would be an alright change.

Oh this system actually seems kinda cool. I think it definitely is harder but adds to the exploration part of the game. If they buff fishing I'd be fine with this but other than that having to bounce between terrain and long locations to make a full training haul making trading halls near impossible unless Mojang allows us to alter biomes . That is a huge issue where trading halls are concerned because it takes time to trade up to being self sufficient and the trading route should be as rewarding as it is especially with prices changing. I would much rather have increased book prices to the point you need to cure them a bunch of times to lower it to 1-5 emeralds also making it a close call because the villager would then be insanely low health and healing it would lock in the value. But by splitting up where you can get items they are insanely nerfing and making the process insanely difficult as from now on you have to bring villagers to the biomes and make trading halls in each biome and with how pricey everything gets it is unnecessarily difficult but an interesting change . I just hope this isn't a sign of things to come forcing reliance on exploration making it difficult to have a stationary play style where you find an area and build

i think if they do this they also need to take out the whole “too expensive” thing for the anvil because its really difficult to enchant more books with the whole prot 3 unbreaking 2 and sharp 3 being the highest it can be, it can be aggravating for some gear like swords helmets and boots especially boots

On long term survival worlds, this isn’t too bad. You can still get good enchants from enchantment tables so you can beat the dragon and the way I would get the villager trading hall set up is to use chunkbase to locate the biomes/villages, set up a raid farm or trading farm to get lots of emeralds, and use nether travel to transport the villagers(on roof if on Java, under roof if on bedrock) you only need to breed up 1 villager in the biome to get the max trades and once you have a villager you can bring it back home

Honestly I think this was a horrible fix. It requires finding lots biomes that they come in, and that can be extremely challenging. Especially if you're in a seed where you only have like spruce forests for thousands of blocks. Plus, with some villagers, they can be specific to a biome in which villages don't even spawn, and if you want that enchantment you have to bring TWO yourself and breed them in order to get a baby of that biome. That can make it extremely difficult especially if there aren't other villages nearby, which means you have to transport them from your house. With the possibility of that distance being thousands of blocks away, even if you transported them with the nether it just makes it way too difficult. Honestly, if a village doesnt spawn in a biome naturally, why would Mojang implement this change while including villagers of those biomes? It makes absolutely zero sense, and makes this way too difficult. Honestly, a good fix for this would either be adding books to other villagers, like making a specific book possible to get from like two or three types of villagers, or keeping the books for all villagers just lowering the chances for some and increasing the chances for other types of villagers.

The wandering trader's log trade is kinda OP. Bear with me. 4 logs makes enough sticks to get 1 emerald from a fletcher. So getting 8 logs per emerald from a wandering trader allows you to double your emeralds without needing to chop trees.

6:50 if you combine books you can put half of the enchants on a book and half on the item and it’s really expensive but it lets you do it and you can also use this trick to get like six enchantments on a sword. You can also combine tools

I think many quickly forgot how much harder it was before the village update to get these books. This new change fits a middle ground between those days and the current setup now. It shouldn't be that easy to get "endgame" level enchantments at the start. That being said, I didn't know librarians worked that way, I am now going to exploit that in my world (before it changes).

Nerfing the villagers wouldn’t be a bad thing, but they didn’t implement it well. Rather than making the process more engaging, they just made it more grindy, and honestly, too much of a headache. I mean, it’s already a struggle to move a villager just 100 blocks, as you need to either build an entire rail system, or drag a villager slowly by boat. And if a hostile mob gets to them during that process, you have to start all over. Here’s what I would’ve done; For each type of book, there’s a specific trade item (much like the netherite upgrade template). Rather than exploring for the type of villager you need for that book, you explore to find the item that you need to trade for the book. These items would be non-renewable, but not too difficult to find in your average structures (Temples, Mansions, Outposts, etc.). Obviously, along with these items, you would need a plethora of Emeralds, providing a further challenge (if you’re a dumb dumb like me who can’t make a raid farm). To wrap up, even if my method wasn’t implemented, Mojang could still come up with a more creative solution that’s less of a bore and headache.

Completely disagree. *Villager trading* has always been too *OP* u could go to any village, set up base, trap the villager In a bed and roll *mending* or *fortune* ect. This new update makes players build more places in different areas rather than staying In one area all the time. Ur Idea seems fairly similar to Armor Trims

@@CerealIs2Gud My idea encourages exploration though. It’s the same basic idea, except you don’t have to the struggle of moving a villager 1000+ blocks. If leads were able to be placed on villagers, this would also be an ok-ish compromise. It would still be extremely difficult to find a village from all the different biomes, especially swamp. This makes getting good enchantments something you only do in late game, as that’s when you get elytra that enables easy, long distance travel. Personally, instead of trying to make early-mid game harder, I’d just add more to the end game. Make those “good enchantments” you get early-mid game not as good when you reach more end game features (The Warden did this very well, excluding the fact that you can find an Ancient City at any point).

Here's my take on this so far. [[Biome Specific Enchantments is fine because Master Librarians guarantee the book.]] Issue 1 - Swamp and Jungle biomes have no village, and I may not want to travel potentially thousands of blocks with a villager to start one, or build one. This makes it tedious to get those villagers. Issue 2 - The level of enchants for Master Librarians is not maxed anymore, so you would have to spend more levels on an anvil, which is limited to 40 levels. This needs to be fixed or the enchants need to be set to max for Masters. [[AI Seriously needs to be reworked for this to be viable.]] Villager AI is garbage, there's no doubt. They go to the furthest possible bed to them quite frequently, sometimes they wont take a job block in front of them, and many villagers in a new village wander off and die, leading to an abandoned village that you can't use to trade with. Building a wall may help but some people don't want to do that so quickly, but in order to save them, you HAVE to. AI needs to be fixed. [[Enchanting is not reliable at times]] By the logic of "villagers having any of the max level random enchants is too OP" this would make enchanting very "OP" because you can get level 4 enchants from it with Level 30. It's complete RNG and you have to do the same thing with villagers to get what you want; sit and reroll at a grindstone EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. YOU GET A BAD ENCHANT. Actually, I would even say it's MORE annoying than trying to get the enchantments from a villager, because if you drop under 30 levels then you have to leave to get more levels to keep rerolling. It's tedious. (and, for fishing, im not going to go into that, so let me just say, no. I don't care to do it, I find it boring. get over it.) [[Anvil Buff]] We need an anvil buff for this to work in any capacity, if none of the other features gets changed. Anvils having a 40 Level limit is insane in its own regard and the limit should never have been there in the first place, but this will make it nearly impossible to get good armor, if not completely impossible, from trading, in case you find enchanting to be too annoying. Also, they break pretty quickly, making it costly to use them (which would be amplified using lower level enchants multiple times over to get the MAX enchant.) Overall, I don't think this update is terrible (at the start I absolutely hated it) but they need to change the way Enchanting and Anvil Enchanting works, as well as fix Villager AI before this can work. You can't just tackle one problem because some guy complained about it without seeing the bigger picture of WHY it's used in that way in the first place. Some other side notes: you shouldn't have to encourage exploration by making people do more work. It's mojang's fault that we don't explore because their updates have been extremely lackluster. The end needs an update desperately and thats just one of the many things they could do to get people exploring. More structures in general for the overworld, end, and heck, even the nether, would be great. New biomes for the end would be amazing, maybe even more mobs to make it a little more diverse on that front. Do something with the big frame in the Ancient cities. They have so much potential they are sitting on for no reason.

Personally I would to disagree with Dan because keep in mind there’s really no right or wrong way to play Minecraft if some things make things easier some ppl will take that route here it feels like there forcing exploration on us when it should be natural. And also the more expensive the enchantments the more the anvil is gonna break which could be a nightmare since there not cheap

I get how they are making it more based on exploring and going to different places but this maybe one of the worst things to do. I makes it easier but it really messes with people who make bases in one area and now have to go and drag more villagers to get them. It just really messes with how good they were now and helped people out it’s just upsetting for them to be messed with this much making them in my opinion way worse going from like and s tier character to like a c or a b

well if it's gonna work how i'm assuming you could just take villagers to the swamp, breed them so you get swamp villagers, get as much as you need, then take them back to your base. At least that way you can still keep all your villagers in one place but also having different cities for villagers and stuff like that in the biomes seems fun.

Exactly. I wasn’t much a explorer person. I never even play Hardcore because I’m still learning even though I played it for years. Wish there’s a way they could do this but also still make it a little easier for those who doesn’t like this.

The whole point, arguably, is to make people work and stop making just bases in one area - to encourage exploration. Fast transportations exist too like water tunnels, elytra, the nether, etc. If people had time to build giant megabases, they have time to find a swamp and make a tunnel to it, then build a small little village where they can trade.

@5:00 - Right now, Wandering Trader is only useful for Peaceful mode players & Skyblock players since he can offer items that you usually cannot have access to easily in either modes.

True, I also agree with this. But I also think since some enchantments are going to be available in jungles and swamps. Then Mojang will most likely add villages to those biomes. But we'll see what else Mojang will add or change.

I actually really like this update, even of they made it much harder to get enchants for your gear. For one thing, it would make fully enchanted netherite armor much more valuable, which is pretty needed since every player nowadays has at least 3 sets of those. The villager thing being changed was also good, as it gives more of a reason to explore bastions and ancient cities than just to explore them.

they really should make difficulty effect more mechanics like villager trades. its really clear people just have differing opinions on how easy the game should be​, and youd think the difficulty would solve that but nah

I think this change is great, it encourages more exploration and adds more to do, and the enchants all fit in pretty well with the biomes they’re in. I think that with the “too expensive” thing though, it should maybe just be raised and there should be some method to easily keep track of it, that way you can plan which enchants you really want without wasting tons of levels, time, books, and effort to have a useless book you can’t enchant anything with

It would suck pretty bad in competitive survival servers. Since you need like 7 bases that can all be easily found and boom you lose half your trades the next morning when you wake up.
