Out digging with the Minelab Vanquish 540 metal detector, help understanding the false signals and deep iron... Are you also getting false signals?? www.spinadiscmetaldetectors.com
Brilliant video mate I’ve been watching so many videos trying to understand my 540 and 440 and this one has helped me understand what’s going on with them, thanks!
I've just orederd the 540 today, it will be my first detector ever and I hope I find some great stuff, which the first great find will be a permission. I would have loved to have got into this hobby years ago as I'm 55 and only just starting out.
@@englandshistory I live right on a few fields belonging to a farmer at the bottom of Derby, I hope I can get permission. I also only have a mountain bike as my primary transport, so can't really go very far...
@@PeterMaddison2483 look on facebook for local club and im sure once you start to get to know people you be able to get car shares to perms and rallies.. jus help towards fuel etc…. I dont drive but i get out all over the uk… there is some amazing folk in the detecting community
I just got the Vanquish as a backup machine to my Nox Thanks so much for this tip. I took it out for the first time this morning and kept having the same sort of falsing.
Just wanna thank you from having to sell my 540! Learned more in 14 minutes than I have in 3 outings with it. The constant chirping and noise was driving me crazy (and I've been in this hobby since 1977). My previous motion detector was silent till you hit a target - the 540 was really beginning to get on my bits till I found your video a million thanks!! 👍
Minted video Si 🤩🙌😊💥 I’ve got the 540 vanquish and love it ….. That’s absolutely fantastic information and explanations…. Thanks 😊 so much for that Si x away to the beach today to see what goodies to be had 😊😊 x
This is a great vid. Just got a 540 and the falsing was driving me mad on wet grass first time out. Its all about getting used to the machine it's a good bit of kit when you get used to it.
some nice finds around the edge of the field there is a lot of stuff that has come from the centre of the field to they edge over the years with the farmer ploughing try it good finds
Great video as always said very informative and education also the advert was advertising the Minelab vanquish . . Stay clean and keep your distance buddy from people I know it's hard got this Corona virus is terrible hopefully it will blow over quickly who knows . . God bless to you family and friends :-) :-)
Hey Sid, if you notch the first two segments on the 540 (still negative numbers) you will get rid of that false ground reading when pumping the coil and still hear most iron. That way you can leave your sens higher. Nice hunt bud.
Notch out the first two segments of discrimination. It will get rid of the ground mineral noise but still hear the iron. Take a look at the vid I posted yesterday. 👍
i have a x-terra 705 (great machine) and now a vanquish 540, 3 times out and i find that bt rotating 90° and again 90°, you can identifying deep iron to good artefact near a iron object. 5soory for the text i'm french) When I detect on ground with mineralized zones, I can almost eliminate false signals by turning the vanquish off andon, which resets the ground balance. I'm still learning the machine
This detector does an automatic ground balance when you power the 540 on and that's how you get rid of that 'chatter' you seemed to have an issue with the sensitivity was also to high for the conditions...
Hi, just got this machine. Struggling to understand the chirps. It keeps beeping faintly reading c. 15, jumpy, throughout field. It's very stony ground. Should I dig these? Thanks
thanks for the advise I was just about to give up on my vanquish 540 I've been running a XP deus hf coil for a year it's the easiest lightest machine I've used so far this vanquish with the falseing is aggravating I'm tired of digging holes to find nothing I'll try turning down the sensitivity thank you
I recently got the vanquish and i was thinking it was giving me false hits and i have given up on a few holes because i cannot find the targets even with a pinpointer but i suspect now after a few finds that its picking up on absolutely tiny targets. Have gone over a couple of fields i have went over with a couple of other detecors and im digging out small stuff the others missed. Only problem i am having is the iron discrimination isn't as good as i hoped but that may be a learning curve.
@@epicchannel4724 I did give up on the Vanquish only because it lacked adjustability and I wanted a water machine I got the Equinox 800 and my daughter got the 600 the vanquish is a good machine and it was the best machine I have used for emi situations power lines etc.the nox is all it was advertised to be and more no regrets here and I kept my XP Deus also a top performer good luck
i really enjoy the v540 .. though i havent updated the iron bias firmware update yet .. i suppose that would make the experience all the better .. rain and a freshly plowed feild -- cant say i've had the chance at those two but i do keepi fidning stuff in the yard !!
i noticed when at the ocean side - turn on the pp on the beach and it gets louder as u get closer to water .. maybe they can incorporated some kind of balance option in a future firmware update to be able to account for that ..
Hi everyone ! Can you help me choose a detector please? What would you choose between an XP ORX / Vanquish 540 / Simplex? Thanks for the help, I really like your videos and your humor!
Glad I dropped on to your vidio I went out with the vanquish for the first time yesterday and must have had hundreds of dodgy signals like in your vid just tested it and dropped the sensitivity down like you said and it works a treat now, many thanks 👍
No worries mate 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 best way is to run full sens at the start of ever hunt and then drop to suit the ground conditions until stable 🤟🤟happy hunting bud
I hooked up the 540 to my mac, and a windows pc, and it was not detected, although it WAS switching itself on... any ideas? I obviously downloaded the update from the website ready and followed all instructions but it just wasn't detecting at all.. does it mean the update is already installed? (i sed the cable from the rechargeable batteries - the micro usb)!
This is because the cable you were using probably only supports charging. There are cables that do charge only and not data. You need one that can do both. The one that comes with the charger doesn't support data unfortunately. I had to go through 4 different cables until i found one. I know this comment is a year old but hope this helps.
Get a load of napkins from drive thro Sid they will do to clean ur shitter later on wen the mcmuffin meal wants to show its face again out of the other end lad,you will have to get in the hedge back Sid or behind a wall lad to lay a girt truncheon ont floor!!!!😂😂👍🏻🍟🍔🇬🇧🍃
I have one a 440 and it kicks ass you have to adjust the Vanquish for your surroundings, that's why it has Settings, I've always been a Garrett fan, but the 440 vs apex, not a chance, I found a 1919 penny this morning looking for a water line for the neighbor

Skynet 31 there is very little between them to be fair so cant make a bad choice... where would you mainly be searching??? Beaches, pasture, ploughed, quiet land or roman spots ect ect
@@englandshistory Thank you very much for your answer I will use it mainly in fields, pasture and forests, quiet land and roman spots, no beach. Thx !
