I can see the XP engineers drinking heavily right now. Rivalry between Nokta and Minelab is creating some great machines at very reasonable prices. Without Nokta putting pressure on you probably wouldn't be seeing these changes so fast. Great test!
For me, I really appreciate and enjoy the nice fluty tones of Minelab detectors because I find it far less jarring and stressful sounding than the other two detectors.
Incredible how technology has been involved! Especially on that price scale! Well done to Nokta and Minelab! Thank you for a great video Iffy. Kind Regards from Maputo Mozambique Africa.
I’ve been swinging my Minelab Xterra Elite (Expedition Pack) for a little more than a week and it has blown me away with the capability it has for the price paid. Has everything I need and performs above par, and then some...
@@user-ny2qj6mu2r Which Equinox are you referring to, becuse there is a difference among them now. Otherwise, you’re wrong. Insiders have said the Elite has the Manticore processor and chipset, which seems to be the case just from the time from power up to search ready compared to the Nox600 I used side-by-side with it. It would also mean it would allow the software to process the signals faster, and that would have a bearing on key software features/settings.
Great test Mike, thank you! This is why I swing a different machine every time I go out. As much as I love my D2, I never considered it the be all, end all ............. I can see an Elite in my future to add into the mix. Thanks again Bud!
You won’t be disappointed! I went with the Xterra Elte Expedition Pack that includes both the V12X and V8X coils and ML85 wireless headphones. I purchased an extra lower shaft to mount the V8X on for quick coil swaps when needed. I plan on bringing it out to the woods soon, so I installed a new proper screen protector and bought a case coverfor the control head to keep it protected. It’s my go to detector right now!
Exciting times in the detecting world at the moment, plus noktas deal on the triple score with two coils is gonna be hard to beat!. It would be an interesting test to see how the manticore fairs against the two new kids on the block!. Another well presented video iffy!
Great test Mike, what a job Nokta and Minelab did on these budget machines. I don't believe you could get the Xp to come close to hitting those targets that these machines did at a 1/3 of the cost for the Xp😂😂😂
I have a Deus 11 and just received the X-Terra Elite and will check it out tomorrow on parks/tot lots. I bought it for a backup for my Deus 11. After watching your video, I may have it all wrong. The Deus 11 may be the backup. LOL
The Triple Score and the X-Terra Elite look equal with unmasking, I will decide after the go head to head in the depth test. I don’t need all the refinements the Legend or Equinox have, I want simplicity. Great video
Thank you for your test!! You’re one of the 3 people I trust with testing. I Do have a couple of questions. I noticed in a past video you showed the D2 improvement going from v71 to 1.0. What’s changed since then? The test? Also how does the manticore do in this test? Thanks😃
Hi Paul, yes the tests are getting more difficult. 1.0 was an improvement. 1.0 filters were causing allot of frustration for people so the next update reverted it back in most programs. Now the other companies are improving further.
Blimy mate , xp need to get in gear , especially with it supposedly being “best unmasker” , brutal performance from minelab and nokta, along with the price , great for us detectorists
Incredible , This is a good look at someone that knows how to use the machine can do. It’s funny because I see a lot buy them and go out one or two times and just put it in the closet .
This is to show what a newer processor will do.....the processor in the Xterra elite is the same as the Manticore. Not the 700/900 Equinox series....so in a way the Elite is a "mini" Manticore. I have the Xterra Elite and the had the Manticore they are both equal to depth on the beach. Testing the D2 against the Xterra Elite I haven't found a target yet the Elite will not pick up depth wise. Now the D2 will hit on gold open earrings better than the Elite. But its all about the processor and software that will win the game here. XP probably has something coming down the road that will be mind blowing. Probably just a head unit that is little bigger than the one we have now on the D2 with a color screen all you have to do is put in your current coil numbers and go hunting.....
The Manticore can hit them all bit you are raising the upper ferrous limits which is close to the iron range. Same as this test, i opened up the Score and Elite. So they will do it but could/will get some nail popping in the field.
I have 9 detectors and considering one more just to make it 10...XTerra and Triple score look about even on these tests..Price is better on the Score but i like the Minelabs audio better..
How does the Legend perform on lvl 5 similiar to the Triple Score? I do like the menu layout on the Triple Score better of course alot of the settings we have on the Legend were an after thought and added during updates which IMO make navigating not so great. I'm not 100% happy with the Legend but I just haven't found anything that much better yet. Curious to see how the VX9 performs I will be really blown away if it can pass lvl 4 out of the box without any updates. Coming from using the V3i I really like the VX spectrograph / 3 tier display. I hope it works as well as advertised.
I am sending my Elite back for repair. It doesn't discriminate iron at all and rings up true numbers at the 44/46 on a sweet tone. I do feel like I maybe rushed into the purchase and looked at the Nokta TS. Of the two machines, which one would you recommend?
I like them both. Elite has a huge coil selection and the Triple has currently more features and is cheaper. If you like ML audio or menu layout vs Nokta audio and layout. That would be the choice.
Concerning the Xp Deus 2, it seems in my tests and observations that the 13 inch coil does better in heavy iron. I can't figure out exactly why. I need to research this more.
Hey Mattie, yes the Triple is right with the Legend for depth in my soil. The Triple is $100 cheaper, a relic mode and has a couple more single selectable frequencies but if you already have a Equinox all of those coils work on the Elite and it has a 99 vdi scale where the Score has a 60. Depth and unmasking are neck and neck.
@@IffySignals i sold my equinox a couple years ago. right now i have no machine. which machine would you personally run if were able to purchase for around the 800 to 1000 ? Thanks for your reply
To me Nokta did better to me.Which machine do you perfer? Which one is deeper ? Which one work at beach better? Just asking your opinion. Thanks for demonstration and imformation.
To me the ML did better on a couple and the Nokta did better on a couple. This could have to do with the level of the max recovery set in each/test layout/iron filter. Not sure but both are awesome. I have not been to the beach with either and both are deep and neck and neck in my soil. I have a bunch of Nox coils so to me thats a plus, being able to use a large coil selection of Nox coils. The Nokta has the Multiple single frequencies and the relic mode. Also $100 ish cheaper. Its going to be user preference on those listed above but performance wise they are right with each other.
@@IffySignals I have a D2 and D2 lite so that would be nice. XP was very close to getting a solid ID number with V 1.0, but the falsing on colonial nails was too much. I fear it will have to wait for the XP Deus 3.
Very interesting test. As you know I have the Legend & love the machine. I’m thinking hard about selling my Legend & getting the Triple Score. My battery is shot on my Legend & I can only use it with the external battery pack. I’ve contacted Andy & he said I’ll need to contact Nokta & see if it’s still under warranty. It’s been 3 years at least. Does the Triple have the 6” or SC15 coil available? I know the Elite & Triple are neck & neck, but which one would you use if those were your only options? If the Legend is still under warranty then I’ll just have it fixed, but if not I may sell it plus all the coils separate & buy the Triple Score or possibly the Elite. I may buy the Vortex 😂😂😂😂
You had me laugh at the last sentence haha. I am really looking forward to testing it. I am not sure about coils. I think there is already a selection of coils for the Score. The Nokta has more features. Maybe updates coming for both we will have to wait and see. Both perform (depth, unmasking) right with each other. Cannot go wrong with either. Sometimes its easy for me to say which one i would pick but in this case its what menu/features/tones/price do you like better.
If your warranty is up on the Legend you can replace the battery yourself quite easily. Just buy one online, crack it open and plug the new battery with the exact same specs in. You'll be back up and running. All of these machines will have battery issues at some point.
If Nokta and ML can figure out how to solve the 7, 8, 9 falsing problem I wonder why XP has not? Curious what you think?? Great testing by the way. Thank you!
@@allarhermas1179 The XP Deus I with headhones and extra coil is $799. The Minelab Elite Expedition Pack is $599. The T.S. is $479. I think the Elite and T.S. are hard to beat for combined performance and value. Many are saying XP may soon be recleasing either a new model or model updates. Maybe worth waiting for? We’ll see...
Nice test👌🏼 I strictly use Xp products and they better get there machines fixed! I’ll be getting a triple score or X terra! Why not for $479 Not happy with Xp! They should have already had a update to fix this problem
@@IffySignals ...or miss masked coins like in your video. Or miss coins on edge. Or miss fringe coins. Or miss coins dragged down by other trash. Get the point Mike-jc?
@IffySignals yep. And apparently Brian from southern relics adventures talked to XP and it don't sound like anything will be coming from XP until next year. I'm bored lol! I might just put it away once my Vortex comes and I'll use that for a while and see how it does.
Thx for the feedback John. This is a best case scenario of unmasking and iron filter performance. If it cannot do it here (removing soil conditions) its not going to do it in the ground. Even our top companies use baseline tests exactly like this.
@@IffySignals As one who eventually plans to add an XP detector to my gear, I am disappointed to see existing Deus II owners giving you such brash pushback on a fair unmaksing test. Maybe their anger should be directed at XP, not Nokta, Minelab or people like yourself comaring the capabilities of the choices out there.
I wish the companies would be more innovative instead of imitating what the competition does. They do have innovative features but the major features are monkey see monkey do. How about being able to use completely different tones? Like orchestra mode. You get classical instrument sounds for tones. Or mettalica mode. Rock and roll tones. Bird mode sounds from birds. 😆 and damnit, they need to figure out a elemental detector. That can tell you elements and alloys, not guess. It must be possible.
