Your pithy "you will get what you are given" attitude to your commentary is fantastic. Being able to listen to some random bloke talking about whatever he wants to is, in my eyes, what makes the Internet great.

ironically, this vid has as many views after a week as I usually get on day one, suggesting that actually, no, my audience will not bloody well like cornish scenery 😄the attitude will not be changing though...

Cornwall, and it wasn't raining! I lived in Cornwall (Troon) as a young child, would love to go back; maybe one day. Thank you. You've already made me homesick for Bristol, where I also used to live, and now Cornwall too :)

Great video, I really enjoyed the footage of such a beautiful part of the country and you squeezed a lot of history into 15 minutes. Thank you!

Fantastic! As a cornishman who spent his childhood clambering over these cliffs and hills exploring these ruins, who has now moved to Bristol for Uni and found your channel, I think this is a touching and sympathetic overview of the character and history of my homeland. Hope you enjoyed your trip, keep up the good work!

yeah loved the trip thanks, it feels almost unfaithful to the family's old home turf to say I liked Penwith just as much, but I think I liked Penwith just as much

Now, Mr PD, I think you have stumbled upon, even unearthed, a new vein of research and reportage. Having left the confines of your home Bristol area, you have placed your excellent focus onto such different ‘rubble’, diverse ‘elevations’ and excavations. I was entranced and entertained with your reflexions and observation. Thank you.

Thanks, PD, an excellent postcard from Cornwall - but we do have industrial estates down here? Now, if you can make it to Cornwall then I'm sure that you can get the bus out to Frampton Cotterell to tell us about the mad hatters of the Frome and the Frampton Magnum Plum or out to Yate (plenty of bleak architecture there for you) for the remains of the celestine industry. Wherever they're from, keep them coming!

Another good one PD 8¬) .... So glad you made it to Carn Euny, quite a magical and peaceful place to reflect on our nation's long history! Also very impressed as I guess you made it there by public transport (assumed following your previous comments about cars ). We revisited with our US family last year and apart from the remaining ex glazed farm? window still extant, they were intrigued that this might well be the way Britons were found living by the first copper seeking Romans to arrive.... The Fogou being their standout feature of course. Thanks for your work!
@PedestrianDiversions
@PedestrianDiversions 11 месяцев назад
actually cheated and went on this trip with car owner/drivers. I think public transport would be doable though, the "Tin Coaster" bus service seemed better than Bristol's offering

Tis indeed a Millennium Falcon err Beacon. The reason that it's looking cared for could well be that they were used for Charlie boy's Coronation. 13:45 To demote the landing point of all those transatlantic cables to an on-screen text caption is an anomaly. Without them, we wouldn't be able to enjoy this very video apart from anything else.

yes for sure, worthy of proper coverage but unfortunately I didnt do any filming on the day we went to porthcurno. I didnt really have a plan prior to the trip so just filmed bits and bobs and wrote around what i had

@@PedestrianDiversions You were on holiday after all, so why would you? I hope that you had a quick look round for your own benefit nonetheless.
@PedestrianDiversions
@PedestrianDiversions 11 месяцев назад
@@JP_TaVeryMuch yes exactly I was consciously trying to have a holiday and not just a filming trip. we had a very good look round the telegraph museum (highly recommended) and a rather briefer look around porthcurno cove itself, as that day was a bit inclement.

Great stuff as ever. On the ideas front, although I’m sure it’s been touched on elsewhere but how about something on subterranean Bristol and surrounds? Avon Gorge caves, Redcliffe caves and the natural wonder of Pen Park Hole for starters?
@PedestrianDiversions
@PedestrianDiversions 11 месяцев назад
redcliffe caves were on my list but I thought I should go in them first - even if not to film, just to see - and havent got round to it yet. this is the first I've heard of pen park hole. sounds exciting but logistically challenging haha

Don’t overlook the “underground” element of the Clifton Suspension Bridge abutment which until recently was thought to be solid but in fact is a cathedral like structure of a lattice of arched supports that would have been complicated to construction.

Crowdfund a drone. I am a Bristolian motorist, I offer you lifts and company to future sites if you’re prepared to go halves on fuel and put up with my yammering. It’s quite a nice car.

that's a very generous offer. but I don't really know what I'm doing with the channel at the moment to be honest, if anything
