Thanks for the video. I'm gonna do the job tomorrow. Didn't know about the E14 Torx socket. Saved me a trip to the store mid-job.

Great video, just one comment. If you can spare money on upgrades you should invest in a proper tool to wind back the piston, they’re designed to be wound £15-25 for the tool and you don’t risk wrecking the piston!

At 2:45 maybe vice grips instead?

Can you use antiseize for the guide pins on the caliper?

An easier way to reset the piston is to put the old pad against the piston and use a C clamp to push it back in. The pad makes sure the piston goes in even.

just changed my pads using this video, no problems at all. thanks alot for the video. just want to ask, did you bleed your brakes after or did you not have too?
@LawrenceHorsfall
@LawrenceHorsfall 5 лет назад
No you don't have too. Only time you bleed the brakes is if you cracked into the brake lines
@jimboctration3354
@jimboctration3354 5 лет назад
@@LawrenceHorsfall I didn't. Just had the hoses changed to braided and the brake fluid done at mini. Thought I'd save some money on the pads. Made quite a few changes to the car this month so I think I'm done for the moment on upgrades

@@jimboctration3354 yeah I need to get some braided lines.

Hi thanks for this great video. I see you changed your wheels as well. How did you sort out the tyre pressure monitor system? I am trying to change my wheels as well, but not sure how to make the pressure monitor work with the new wheels. Did you just place the original sensor on the new wheels? Do they match with each other?
@LawrenceHorsfall
@LawrenceHorsfall 4 года назад
Yeah i put the original sensors in the new wheels and had no problems. The car auto matches them so I wouldn't worry about positioning

@@LawrenceHorsfall Ok I see. Thanks for the explanation. I guess your aftermarket wheel's centre bore doesn't fit the hub of Mini Cooper perfectly right? Did you use the spigot rings? If yes, have you run into any problem with the spigot rings? It is interesting that one of my local garages told me that they won't fit wheels that need spigot rings, because they has caused their customers some problems before.
@LawrenceHorsfall
@LawrenceHorsfall 4 года назад
@@shuokaipan4653 I used plastic spigot rings and all they are for is to ensure the wheel is located centrally then when you bolt the wheel on the spigot ring has no stress on it at all. the only downside to plastic rings is at track temps they can melt.

@@LawrenceHorsfall I need to ask you another thing. How did you loosen the anti-theft lug nut on the original wheel? I used the lug nut key and a breaker bar, but every time the key and the 21mm socket would just pop out when I pushed on the breaker bar. This is because the key can't fit on the lug nut tightly enough. So did you have this problem as well? I tried to untighten it using a power drill, but it still failed.

@@shuokaipan4653 I never had a problem with mine so I cant really advise you of what you can do. Sorry.

did you notice a big difference in braking with the new discs and pads? thinking of upgrading mine to tarox slotted f2000 and tarox brakes rather than the jcw big brake kit
@LawrenceHorsfall
@LawrenceHorsfall 5 лет назад
Yeah I noticed a massive difference. Cold they're a bit more unresponsive but when warm. They're amazing. Loads better value for money

@Adam Omylanowski I've just bought some braided hoses and thinking of buying the yellow ebc pads too and I'll see if that helps enough to mean no further improvement. Do the f56 pads fit in the calipers you have or are they different?
@jimboctration3354
@jimboctration3354 5 лет назад
@Adam Omylanowski just bought the yellow stuff pads. Got front and rear for £100 which I thought was ok. Do you think I'll need to change the sensors as they haven't flagged up on the dash yet. The old pads are ok I'm just changing through choice
