If you have lots of trenching to do, I recommend the Baretto 20RTK stand on track trencher. It's superb, did 100m, 100mm wide, 500m depth multiple trenches in less than three hours.
You can tell you are not a professional digger driver, you left the cab not having to pee. Additionally you should have a bloke leaning on a shovel while you work, watching his phone 😁
My 7 year old grandson would love doing this trench job. His other grandad has a whole fleet of earthmoving equipment ranging from mini diggers to bulldozers so he’s got plenty of knowledge and access to this type of equipment. By the way the man leaning on the shovel (referred to in one of the other comments) is called a banksman and should be looking for pipes/cables or other things that you’re not supposed to hit/disturb rather than his phone. I think they’re required by law (HSE regs I would imagine) on larger sites.
Plus 1 on the idea of joining a course for these types of equipment. Unfortunately, there's not much round my area (canterbury, Kent) for these kinda things. Well last time, i checked. Maybe that's changed now. For an aspiring diyer I think there should be more courses on general construction and motor mechanics available as evening classes, etc. Especially with the escalating costs of things these days.
I hired one with a driver years ago for a day as had no idea. Driver gave me some tuition at lunch and have been confident to hire self-drive since. I'm no expert though!
Do you have a sizable 3phase supply from another source? Supposed you are getting the high voltage overhead lines removed, could be used for solar, heat pumps and EV charging in the future. - from April onwards DNO's have to supply transformers / the high voltage works for free when upgrading supplies for EV chargers and heatpumps.
3 phase come in on underground supply independent from the overhead. That’s coming out mid April but would always leave an option to bring up another supply from the field if ever needed. 👍
I feel your pain with the hiring situation . . . there's always that bit more to be done after the end of the hire! One question whilst you're on drainage . . . as the cabin is on a concrete yard where does all the waste water go? - septic tank/private system or what ??
@@TheRestorationCouple he's right....the blade works with the bucket on the the concrete trench you were lifting the rear which you wouldn't have done if the blade was down on the same side as the bucket
Depends what your digging aswell. Hard ground I always have the blade behind me as it assist with weight pushing down to dig. Soft claggy soil have it at the front so you don't sink in and start dragging yourself towards the hole/trench. I've got takeuchi tb016 and it is by far the best 1.5t machine in that weight category. All the facilities companies use them around my way anyway. Blade is actually usable on the takeuchi. Only my experience though. Use mine most days. She is old but gold. Just keep driving it and you will soon speed up. When it becomes second nature, which it will, you will laugh at how long it used to take you to load a dumper. Cheers Barney
If you’re paying to hire a digger you’ll quickly find it far cheaper to either buy a secondhand one or buy a new on one finance and sell it at the end of the job. In general diggers don’t depreciate much if at all in value…
Fortunately we are sponsored by a hire company so no rush to buy. We did look at a few larger machines earlier on but higher priorities around the place than that at the moment. 👍
There's no point paying for training if you're doing work on your property. If your not confident hire a professional and if you've got a lot of work you'll get the feel for it after a couple days.
